Xbox One Audio Headset Adapter FIX

In this video I talk about, and show, a fix for the Xbox One headset adapter. Recently the adapter stopped working properly, and no matter how many times I updated the controller it still wouldn't work. Here i explain how to fix this. Enjoy!

You are a life saver my man! Everything working fine before i left for work. I come back and the damn thing wouldnt work. Tried the update controller without the adapter on and reconnected it, then boom, works just fine. Mind you my controller was already up to date so i just pressed continue. Thanks man!

No Mic will work on my controller, I've tried the original Xbox Mic and it doesn't let me do anything and I've tried the adaptor with earphones that I've been using for a year and still doesn't let me do anything with it

I've never tested my mic as I don't talk with others too often while playing. But, I do know that this method at least fixes the sound coming from the headphones. Let me know if you figure something else out.

Yea i tried to update mine and even replaced my headphone and it still didnt work. imma try to get a new controller work and see if thats the issue

try doing the steps in the video with both controllers. I'd start with the one that works first, then try it on the one that doesn't. It might just need a software update.

I need help. I've been through two sets of headsets and they keep cutting in and out sometimes they don't work at all. I've checked all the settings everything seems ok. Am i missing something or would an adapter help. Any help would be appreciated

If you aren't using an adapter then I highly recommend that you get one. That might solve all of your issues.

Quick question my headset works fine on other adapters but when I plug it into my adapter for my controller it plays sound through 1 side of my head set and then randomly switches to both side of the headset , and I don’t know how to fix it so it plays on both sides and not randomly switiching

my adapter used to work fine on both of my controllers but i had one i used a lot but stopped because it wouldn't work so used my other one alot and now its not working they can play sound normally when not in a game but when playing games the sound lags bad only when actually playing the game though when in the game menu it sounds fine. (my theory is i might have worn out the controller audio part because on the one i used a lot i used to use the headset they give you

How did you get the Xbox to recognize the usb cord? I tried a phone micro usb and it didn’t work, so I bought the play and charge kit and same thing.

A couple of things. 1) if you perviously used the headset adapter with another controller and xbox system, then you may want to try updating with that same configuration. Mine initially didn't work, which is why I had to go back to my original xbox one, update, then connect to the new xbox one x. 2) Make sure your usb cord is a newer one that will support data transfer as well as charging. Not all cables are created equal. Hope this helps.

Did you own this adapter before you bought the new Xbox One S? If you used this adapter with the original Xbox One and a different controller, you may need to use that original setup when updating, at least that is what I needed to do.

Hmmm. This seems be a different problem than what I had. Your adapter could just be a bad one. Are you still having issues with this?

Hey everyone, I know this is a few years late, but from what I have read everywhere what worked for me has not been said yet when everything else did not work.After trying the resetting of the controller and Xbox, updating the controller, plugging the adapter in and out, and all those other things. What worked for me was plugging the headset I was trying to use into my controller, then letting it turn on the headset until sounds comes out. After it is on unplug the headset then plug in the adapter. The mute light should be off and it should work again until the controller is turned off. Once the controller turns off these steps have to repeated.

same here joust changed Xbox one for a Xbox S... i bought december Origin Xbox stereo headset with adapter. When i'm ussing the Xbox one gamepad works everythink normaly.. But when i Turn on my Xbox S with a oring Xbox S gamepad , plug the Adapter into gamepad with headsets. it DOESENT WORK. All updates up to the date. I bought special edition Sea of thiefs gamepad everything up to the date, headset Still doesent work. But if i Try to put my Headsets with adapter into old Xbox one gamepad sound works normaly... IT MAKES NONSENCE..... it working on old gamepad but it doesen't recognises on any new Gamepads... That's bullshit it makes me so frustrated...and again Everthing is up to the date... Anyone have same problem? not even Microsoft can help me...nonsence every part is original Xbox and it doesent work.....

Mine is wireless too., but all wireless controllers have an input for a micro usb. Find and micro usb cord (most phone cords will work) and try that. The input should be at the top of the controller. Let me know how it goes. :)
