I also tried the lift or angling the Xbox while inserting - DIDN’T WORK FOR ME But 1st time trying to hold it and allowing it to grab it it worked right away. I've became quite good at listening for the disc read sound, when it plays the disc it makes a dun dun, dun dunt. And the disc reads and plays. When it doesn't make all four sounds it won't read and makes a dun dun, dun dun dun-eerr. eject it hope i don't sound like a weirdo lmfao hope this helps some poeple.

I had this problem last night it wouldn't read the discs but i fixed it and now it reads fine i disassembled the xbox and it was very dusty inside so i cleaned it out and i opened the cd drive to check if there was dust but it was clean but the laser was dirty so i used a dry cotton bud to clean the laser lens then i put it all back together and it works like brand new the games boot up straight away now.

U can also try to change the power setting.. if u change it from quick start to power saving and reboot it after.. then it works.. some xbox has this issue .. but great vid thankz 😃

This worked for me. I tried a ton of times and it wasn't working but then I turned my system upside down and pressed a little on the bottom and tried it and I could tell right away from the sound that it worked. Instead of sounding like it was trying and failing and then trying again, it just started spinning with no stop. No idea why it worked like that. I tried it normal, on its side, on its back so gravity would help and then finally upside down while putting a little pressure on the bottom of the console and it worked. Thanks!

Crazy it definitely isn't a "auto fix" but you can tell, it's part of the issue. Mine still isn't working, but after doing this, I was able to get it to read a couple disks, just wouldn't completely work. Guess mine is too far gone or has multiple issues. I haven't used my disk reader in a long time, I remember it acting up a while back, but it would always eventually work, now it's just totally out of there.
