XWine1 and the Xbox exploit are so important for preservation. 20 years from now, you MIGHT be able to get these games legitimately from Microsoft, but that isn't even a guarantee. Archiving these titles should be looked at the same as preserving theatrical film releases of movies, or protecting books in archival storage. Historians shouldn't be left without reference, and companies cannot be trusted to preserve things on their own.

Any kind of hack to the Xbox One/Series is very important, otherwise the consoles will end in e-waste in the next decade(s). Great to see the dumping "working" and using the "images" on a PC. Of course any hack like RGH better for later years, just to get the control of the old hardware. "Emulation/translation" is great for testing, but the fun is only on real hardware (for myself). Til today I ask myself why the Xbox One never caught my heart. Maybe it's really because of the missing scene, which always starts when something is hacked. And no, it's not about copying games, I have a huge library of physical media (digital is not an option).

I hope for a mod, that allows the PS5 removable disc drive, to be "activated", without the need for Internet access. This would contribute to game console preservation. The same for Xbox, not being able to factory reset, and then activated without Internet access.

For me, the most interesting use for something like this would be for console exclusive japanese games. Vanillaware's entire HD library for example.

4:19 thats what actually is called emulator though because you're translating the game api of xbox one to windows which is either vulkan or direct x 12 api It is similar to shadps4 since both the cpu are x86 architecture just like a normal cpu from a pc

this is good because for some reason, microsoft never made something like a marcus fenix collection like how they made the master chief collection. they only gave us the gears 1 remake. maybe eventually, we'd get gears 2, 3 and judgement on pc too.

I believe there is a project for creating a translation layer for PS Vita on Nintendo Switch. The last I had heard, it had not gotten very far.

The thing I'm most excited to see with X wine is not an emulator 1 is not game preservation, but seeing extreme layers of because I can Linux running a Windows VM running Xwine running dolphin, running some game like Attack of the Toy bots

i remember seeing a video in like 2020 where someone was able to use an external bluray drive to play a blueray movie on the ps5 i wonder if bd-jb would work with that or if im just completely misremembering that

I remember when the PS5 initially came out people were talking about this or making claims similar, but I never saw evidence of it happening and it quickly dissipated. The closest evidence I've ever seen was someone showing it didn't work.

Jailbreaking Xbox Series makes no sense. You can use DevMode… Emulation makes the most sense, as well as creating a UWP for that emulator… some people just don’t get it…

Yea at this point it would probably make more sense for Microsoft to release a special bluray reader to allow us to run Xbox 1 and 1X titles on windows 10 and up. Physical sales for games would go through the roof thats for sure.... More than likely would also bring in a lot of subscribers....

Especially when we get to pop in platform locked Xbox one Games like CTR, and run them on PC with series x enhancements. Plus, with everyone realizing their (legit) digital content can be taken away at anytime, more and more are choosing to own physical media, instead of renting digitally.
