TO EVERYONE WHO STRUGGLES TO GET THE TOP BACK ON Connect the ribbon and attach the front as shown in the video, then put the top cover on from back to front. It will push the front forward as it clicks into place, then you push the front into its latching spots

I sorted it by disconnecting the front and the top putting on the front and then putting on the top, there are a few clips but it does make it a little easier

Need to take the front part away from the top it's treky but you can do it

You have to pull the darker tan thing on the ribbon front. When you do it unlocks and pulls out easily. When you install it back, make sure it’s pulled out and slide the inner piece inside and push the small tab back in. Then wrap the outer edge of it around the ring on the outside. Just be careful with it, make sure you’re not too rough and you’ll figure it out. Good luck guys.

To be honest I'm no pro at opening video game consoles but I try my best with youtube videos and this video is very clean and straight forward. I want to clean the fan and change the thermal paste. I think you have that video I'm going to look for it. Thank you so much for this. I was wondering, would you recommend buying the Ifix it pro tool kit or another for video game console repair. You can, with some practise, remove the outer casing without any tools. Pull the left cover from inside the USB cutout and ease the panel away. The tabs at the back are the most difficult but can be unclipped by applying inward pressure directly over the centre of the clip and it'll pop open.

I'm not sure if your going to read this or not but the screw 03 on the top left if completely stripped it a perfect circle inside and I don't know how to take it out can you possibly help me with that?

Might be able to use a flat head if there is still something to grab on to. Otherwise, if you have a Drenel tool or something similar, Harbor Freight has small $10 equivalent, you can score a flathead slot. Additionally you could use a needle nose Vise Grip to grab the screw head. Wish you luck.

There was missing information missing about how to reconnect the ribbon and the front panel. Due to this, there has been a very tedious, unpleasant reassembly struggle for me after cleaning my system. What is that ribbon you put in at 15.13? I got one of these old models that would not turn on at all. Opened it up to find it had already been opened. The wire from the wifi card was missing also the speaker, I also noticed that ribbon was not connected. I give it a good clean and it did not work. I thought well it is dead. Watched your video and seen the plate comes off which makes it 100% easier to re connect the ribbon. Put it all back together and thought I will try power it one more time and boom it worked. Is that ribbon a main part of the console then?

That ribbon is so sensitive and so easy to break honestly if you disconnect it with out damaging it everything else is super easy. First time I took my Xbox apart to clean I kinda damaged the ribbon and when I put it back together my Xbox wouldn’t turn on... long story short I managed to get it to work again after hours of messing with it, the only thing was that it’s so sensitive that occasionally if u bumped it to much with would turn on and off by it self. Ever since then I havent taken it apart again 😂😂

I was able to get the entire cover back on but now theres a gap near the power button where that corner of the top case reconnects to the bottom portion. Spent a hour trying to get the entire case back on correctly and could only get it to 99% work with the gap. Also sadly broke a plastic tab off one of the sides but didnt affect anything
