Are they? Look at the failure rate of the xbox 360 and PS3, I'd say it's much higher compared to current consoles. The one's designed quite good I'd say, especially the cooling.

I would love to see a full video about the turning off and back on issue. I’ve noticed in 2-3 videos over the last year where you say you’ll have to make a longer video in the future about this issue because it requires more diagnostics and would take time. Although you talk about it a few times here and there, which helps a little, I don’t think you’ve made one yet. And for some reason no other channel has covered this issue, that I can find.. Love your content either way, it’s so much appreciated 😌 Also, if you read this by chance and remember, do you have any videos up repairing circuit traces?

Any time I try to install a game from the store or update a game, it says “install stopped.” I’ve tried unplugging. I’ve done a factory reset. I’ve reformatted the external hard drive. It usually fixes it for a day or 2 and then it messes up again. Any thoughts? EDIT: it was the external hard drive. I replaced it and all is well again.

That troubleshooting is because you need to do a full on reset hold the Xbox home button for 10 seconds unplug it and turn it back on in 30 seconds once you plugged it back in

Finally someone who knows what he is talking about. There is so much rubbish on KZbin regarding what the issues are and how to fix them. Some guys give all these step by step guidelines on what to switch off when and when to switch it back on, that you feel like a time traveller who arrived in the Dark Ages. It was then I upgraded to the One X back in 2019. That one pissed me off in the during the time I had it because the retimer chip burned out on me 2x. When it gave out on me the 2nd time I said f it and upgraded to the Series X because Microsoft wanted to phase out the new game releases on the One. The time I did have with the One and One X were good but it sucks it took having to tear down just to upgrade to a ssd.

I had that problem. I did a power cycle on mine and it works fine now. This happened less than 1 month of buying mine. Look up how to power cycle it, Xbox Tech helped me with it. Also sometimes if you replace the circuit board that has the power button sensor on it that should fix it too

I cleaned all dust from the unit and fan areas. Im wanting to buy a new power supply but didn't want to burn cash for no reson. Is thee any tell-tail for a fialed hard drive? R, Sean Walters

I don't think I've ever seen a failed hard drive cause it to shut down. It's more likely a problem on the motherboard....maybe a problem on the power rail somewhere or even possibly the Southbridge chip.

It's the chip on top of the metal shroud when you take it apart iirc. One or 2 screws holding it in with an antenna going to it. You'll have to plug the antenna in to where it goes on the chip. It's been a while since i've taken one apart, but i'm pretty sure that's where it was at.

#HelpPlease I've had my Xbox one for 4 years and I haven't had a problem until now. My Xbox will turn off every 2 hours when playing and I think it might be the fan because I don't hear it so I'm just assuming that it not cooling down the system. I've read something online saying that the Xbox one has a safety feature for over heating that the console will turn off by itself once it reaches a certain temperature. Hey my Xbox one only takes disks in about half way and then gets stuck. After watching your video on the top five problems of Xbox one & Xbox one S, I realize that it is a mechanical malfunction in the disk drive. My question to you is how do I fix this problem? My dad told me his Xbox is turning off, I checked it and it says that the Xbox turns off because it doesn't have good ventilation but where it's placed, it has plenty of ventilation. He only uses it to to watch movies. I'll have to clean it to see if it's dusty.

My Xbox One S recently failed after what appears to be an automated update. My XBox One still works without a problem. However, my S failed like a month after the warranty expired. It gave me the long error number and I tried to do the manual update via the USB thumb drive. It goes through the update and gets to 100% so it looks like it completed, but during the verification stage it fails before it gets to 1%. Really frustrating. Would a bad hard drive have an issue like that? I would think it wouldn't even do the install if it was the hard drive. However, you mention the E101 E201 errors could be related to that. Yes, a bad hard drive could cause that type of problem. I recommend Andrew Pauls channel here on KZbin for help with that.

Shame Microsoft doesn't allow formatting of a hard drive with the OSU image loaded on a thumb drive and have to use the script and OSU file to format it. I see iFixIT also provides preformated drives, at what seems a reasonable price. Although, they only currently have 500GB drives. Thanks for the response!

@@Tronicsfix The Form Factor of the internal Drive is a 2.5" correct? Is there a way to verify the drive is actually bad? Perhaps I could run through the procedures in Andrew Paul's channel with the existing drive that is in it now? It never made any clicks or sounds that I have experienced with bad drives. Perhaps just the partition table got munged?

@@spsanders69 you can check the drive with crystal disk info on pc. it a 2.5 drive in the xbox. one thing you can also do is formating the drive and installing the xbox os on it

If it isn't it, I can still add the drive to the old XBOX One externally. Hopefully, same a barely over 1 year Xbox One S would go out and the 4 year old is still chugging along, and it is still constantly used by my son.

My Xbox dashboard is running slow, when I start up the system and I try to press the home button the menu comes up but it won’t let me move the cursor anywhere, also it freezes and the games won’t load while it does this. My original Xbox one is a load of junk, replaced it with an One S then a One X and never regretted. It's used as a glorified blu ray player but even that causes it to overheat and struggle, had to be set to energy saving so it can make it through the film before it overheats.

For me current issues with my Xbox one Slim is mainly due to dosk drive and maybe the lasers. It makes a mixture of Buzzing and clicking when ever it tried to read disks and i also found that it is actually damaging my disks slightly as it tries to read them.

i have a xbox one s and it powers on the off right away. but when i had it sitting in the metal shell with no screws in it. it worked fine. put it back together and power on and off again. i tested a known good power supply and new thermal paste. also cleaned the board with IPA 91%. seems as if the screws are pulling the mother board to the metal shell causing a short. what are your thoughts? i also thought about putting rubber/foam pads to keep the board away from the metal shell.

Josh Plourde Well when I connect to my Xbox LIVE, I can't start my games they give me 0x8000756 error( "Sorry your game took so long to open") or something similar to that error code.I never had this problem until the recent May update on my original Xbox ONE which is a concern. Although I can play my games offline no problem but somehow they just can't start when connected to the xbox live service.

Just found out Xbox has a troubleshoot feature if all else does not work. Hold the system and eject button for 15 seconds before Turning on the Xbox. Wait till the second power on noise and done. Only do it if your Xbox is like mine and wont turn on and you just get the help option and nothing works.
