Xbox One Top 5 Problems

The Xbox One game console is a fairly reliable but just like the PS4 it does have it's problems. Here are the top 5 problems with the Xbox One:
1) Disc drive issues. This is by far the most common problem with this console. Both faulty lasers and mechanical problems with the drive are some of the most common items that cause problems.
2) Turning on then off/Not turning on at all. Many Xbox's had faulty power bricks, but some also have had faulty Southbridge chips and/or faulty components on the power rail that cause them to not turn on at all or turn on then back off.
3) HDMI ports. While not as big of a problem as with the PS4 consoles Xbox One's definitely have had some problems with bad HDMI ports. This has been an issue so far with the Xbox One S consoles as well.
4) Hard drives. Hard drive problems seem to be more common with the Xbox One than with the PS4. These problems are also not limited to the Xbox One but are also found on the Xbox One S.
5) Bug infestation. Many of these consoles get infested with cockroaches. It seems to be less common with Xbox's than with PS4's but it definitely still happens.

Creedo 1999 easy fix bro! Don’t buy a new xbox. You could replace the capacitor that is over cooked for about 5 dollars and a tutorial. Or replace the entire power brick. Don’t buy a new xbox!!!

I would love to see a full video about the turning off and back on issue. I’ve noticed in 2-3 videos over the last year where you say you’ll have to make a longer video in the future about this issue because it requires more diagnostics and would take time. Although you talk about it a few times here and there, which helps a little, I don’t think you’ve made one yet. And for some reason no other channel has covered this issue, that I can find.. Are they? Look at the failure rate of the xbox 360 and PS3, I'd say it's much higher compared to current consoles. The one's designed quite good I'd say, especially the cooling.

Any time I try to install a game from the store or update a game, it says “install stopped.” I’ve tried unplugging. I’ve done a factory reset. I’ve reformatted the external hard drive. It usually fixes it for a day or 2 and then it messes up again. Any thoughts? EDIT: it was the external hard drive. I replaced it and all is well again.

That troubleshooting is because you need to do a full on reset hold the Xbox home button for 10 seconds unplug it and turn it back on in 30 seconds once you plugged it back in

It was then I upgraded to the One X back in 2019. That one pissed me off in the during the time I had it because the retimer chip burned out on me 2x. When it gave out on me the 2nd time I said f it and upgraded to the Series X because Microsoft wanted to phase out the new game releases on the One. The time I did have with the One and One X were good but it sucks it took having to tear down just to upgrade to a ssd.

I had that problem. I did a power cycle on mine and it works fine now. This happened less than 1 month of buying mine. Look up how to power cycle it, Xbox Tech helped me with it. Also sometimes if you replace the circuit board that has the power button sensor on it that should fix it too

I don't think I've ever seen a failed hard drive cause it to shut down. It's more likely a problem on the motherboard....maybe a problem on the power rail somewhere or even possibly the Southbridge chip.

It's the chip on top of the metal shroud when you take it apart iirc. One or 2 screws holding it in with an antenna going to it. You'll have to plug the antenna in to where it goes on the chip. It's been a while since i've taken one apart, but i'm pretty sure that's where it was at.

Hope you can shed some light on my issue. Have a day one XBOX ONE will not turn on. Light on the PSU is orange when I connect it to console it turns the PSU light off. #HelpPlease I've had my Xbox one for 4 years and I haven't had a problem until now. My Xbox will turn off every 2 hours when playing and I think it might be the fan because I don't hear it so I'm just assuming that it not cooling down the system. I've read something online saying that the Xbox one has a safety feature for over heating that the console will turn off by itself once it reaches a certain temperature. For me current issues with my Xbox one Slim is mainly due to dosk drive and maybe the lasers. It makes a mixture of Buzzing and clicking when ever it tried to read disks and i also found that it is actually damaging my disks slightly as it tries to read them.

Mines barely makes the cut on sound and doesn't come on at all. Happened after we had an outage. Alls a go. Replugged the power and was able to eject a disc, came right on afterwards. She still has life :).

Do you have a link for the bands on the wheels. I bought some but I think it's to big. I'm missing the one on the back of the disk drive.

My Xbox one would work normally but after a bit it would make a weird noise and when I am playing the game would just freeze and nothing would respond the screen would freeze and the only thing that would work was to press the home buttons on the controller but everything else would freeze. Has any one else had this problem?? And can someone please help me because my Xbox will just freeze after a weird noise happens idk what could be the problem

Along the line of the disc drive. My original Xbox one will randomly play or not play DVDs, scratches or in perfect condition. Any ideas? Also it will play all games flawlessly...

My Xbox queue won't work, like games won't install, or update, and when I try to cancel them, they won't cancel.

Have a xbox one s, which doesnt turn on, have tested the PSU and the Mosfets on the 3 power phases lines and they are all giving correct readings, what should i test next?

Josh Plourde Well when I connect to my Xbox LIVE, I can't start my games they give me 0x8000756 error( "Sorry your game took so long to open") or something similar to that error code.I never had this problem until the recent May update on my original Xbox ONE which is a concern. Although I can play my games offline no problem but somehow they just can't start when connected to the xbox live service.

ran into a power issue with my One S, I thought it was bricked but turns out it was just the power cable not plugged in all the way. Did a quick test to make sure I wasn't seeing things then connected it back up and it's working fine now.

Iv a xbox one s and when i watch KZbin twitch Netflix the screen gets all pixalated and turns off and resets any ideas as to the problem thanks from UK

Yes I have a Xbox one original and a Xbox one s. On the one s I get an error 102 I’ve tried resetting and usb offline update but it’s still grey’d out when I plug in the usb. Even called Microsoft to double check everything for 2hours. So my question is can I take the hard drive from my original xbox one and replace it into my xbox one s?

Is dirt problems common on the Xbox One ? Because i think dust can enter above into the console. Is it something to worry about?

Hello, when you turn on the inside of the Xbox, some mechanism does not start, you can hear how it tries to turn on but goes out

My Xbox one turns on but doesn't display anything on the TV. Then after 30-60 seconds it turns off. Any ideas? It seems like when other people have the on off problem the console turns off almost instantly after tuning it on so this seems a little different. Thanks

My original Xbox one is a load of junk, replaced it with an One S then a One X and never regretted. It's used as a glorified blu ray player but even that causes it to overheat and struggle, had to be set to energy saving so it can make it through the film before it overheats.

I'm in need of some help diagnosing a display problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated! So here is what is happening: When I turn on my Xbox one the start up green screen with xbox shows up, but then goes black. I know its somewhat working because if I hold the xbox button on the remote the power off/restart screen shows up and functions, but if you hit B or back out the screen goes black again, but xbox button continues to work, but no other images than explained appear. Is there a chip difference in the motherboards between a regular XboxONE and a HALO5EditionXboxONE??? Repair shop i just took my H5 edition console too for an HDMI port problem is now saying they've found a chip missing on the motherboard??? Trying to make sure I'm not being screwed over.
