This video was super helpful, and citra is running smooth on my xbox. I wonder if there is a way we can make the top screen bigger, and relocate the bottom screen to like the right side. EDIT: nvm i found out how. It’s in the core settings in the quick menu.

I was skipping the Decryption method on your other video. 😄 My emulator was also all messed up but I followed your guide and was able to turn the shaders off like you did, pretty easy and quick though after a few moments, I opened the Quick Menu and it was "jacked up" again. So for now, it's a temporary solution. 🤟

Regarding the 4K resolution bug, this has been a problem since Feb 2024 Xbox OS update. Previous system updates prior to Feb did not show this issue. The Series S is no longer able to run Retroarch games at 4K Output (sometimes it will run the game’s audio, but visually you’ll just get a black screen). 4K output does however still work on the Series X, just a shame that the Series S is no longer the emulator machine it used to be.

While playing Pokemon Sapphire I found that putting it in “Fullscreen Windowed” and turning off VSync helped in a small but noticeable way with the crazy stuttering I was facing! This may improve games by removing little stutters !

Not sure if they updated the build by the time I got the video and set mine up. Update Core info is no longer there and my games are listed by their numerical value not the Titles? They do play so all is good but have to guess which is which. I could probably rename the actual file, however other 3DS emulators show actual title.

Can you *****PLEASE**** tell or show how to set up a mouse and a xbox controller at the same time? Becaue in pokemon the super training is nearly impossible to aim with the right stick... i have a mouse set up on xbox and in the xbox menu(also devmodemenu) the mouse is visible and the function is as it should be. Are you only able to use the normal top/bottom overlay? For example on my PC I usually have the top screen much bigger while the bottom screen is small and off in the corner. Is there an option to change that or is it currently just the default layout?

I fixed my error in relation to a black start up screen I commented about with any game. If you used a USB stick for any other version of a Citra emulator and routed your directories to said USB, the previous citra core files will automatically load when changing directory settings, and thus confusing the system. My explanation may not be correct but when I wiped my Citra files in my retroarch folder then redownloaded core infos, it worked and Majoras Mask booted up on the new 3ds option. I will be testing the New 3ds options to try to see which games get the cpu boost.

could you explain this process a little further? I appear to have the same problem, I made a copy of my existing retroarch folder (but renamed it) then wiped all the files from the sub folders. But I still have the black screen. Then I saw this comment about wiping citra core files and redownloading, upon doing so the "update core info" inside online update was not available.

@JaredTucker1998 So inside your USB, you should have your files formatted, mine go USB Games Retroarch Last 3 boot items Inside Retroarch you should have minimum Assets Cheats Config Coreinfo Logs Overlays Playlists Saves Shaders States (Default "system" folder this should always be here if you formatted it with usb tool.) Thumbnails Delete all options for "Citra" under these folders in "Retroarch" on your USB and reinstall Retroarch and follow the guide again. I don't usually promote uninstalling and stuff like that because it can be a bad habit but I couldn't get it to work except for a fresh install. So recap, 1st delete Retroarch Citra 2nd on your usb, look in Retroarch folder and delete each "Citra" folder 3rd follow the guide from the first time booting up Retroarch Citra and it should work. Note, if you are running Ultra Sun and Moon or any game "made for New 3Ds", the game crashes on launch so it's not a boot issue just a limitation for now.

Hey my guy, I’m not asking where to get roms from. I’m asking what specific format do they need to be in? I have a bunch of .cia files for an old Modded 3ds. It handles Open GL better. It doesn't work with anything Vulkan backends I have tried. The citra core is modified from the one available in the online updater.

Hey i got a 2 terabyte seagate xbox hard drive could i use it for emulation or no i just got a series x and i cant use it for extended storage anymore

You can still use it to play original xbox, 360 and xbox one games. You can also store x/s optimised games there, you're just not able to play them straight off the hard drive. You can of course use it for emulation instead, but you can't use it for both emulation and regular xbox/360/one/series games as it has to be formatted for the latter. You'd have to have two separate harddrives. I wish you could partition the harddrive to use both! I also have a 2tb Seagate for storing all my xbox games and ideally would use it for both, but I just use a flash drive for my emulation at the moment but it gets quite hot and I'm worried it will fail at some point so I'm saving up for another harddrive now :)

@@Yuudai-Kajiwara definitely, super fun on the big screen. And I make the top screen take the majority of the screen while the bottom screen is small and off in a corner. Super fun to see the 3D battles and stuff like that. And if you want to use any cheats, just put your save inside PokeHex editor and change anything you want from pokemon in your party, held items, pokemon in storage boxes, shiny or not, rare candies, movesets, stats everything

UPDATE, I FIXED IT. YOU NEED TO RUN THE FILE THAT FIXES THE ISSUE FIRST, THEN PLAY TOMODACHI LIFE

@@Onomiichi were you able to type actual names? all i get is just defaulting to Citra

@Sukopie unfortunately as of now all games that require you to type in the box will automatically default to citra :( If you have a PC and a 3DS emulator, you can locate your tomodachi life save file, add it to your PC 3DS emulator, and edit the mii names in game on your PC then send you save file back to the USB/external hard drive

@Sukopie same here lol. Not to get you confused but it's nothing to do with save file editing. It's just playing your Xbox save file on PC to edit your Mii names

In the thumbnail folder of your retroarch folder put another folder and name it named_boxart and THEN within that folder put the images that you want. Make sure the image name is the EXACT same as the game file you want it for. Also, make sure the image is in PNG format other wise it wont recognize the image.

Nevermind figured it out, found a list of tested games that do/dont work and both Luigi’s mansion games don’t work on current Citra RetroArch.
