If you are having problems with the ssd, right click on the ssd in MY PC, click format, click from Exfat to NTFS, the format it, then run the program that he mentioned. I did this and it fixed it because it wasn't set to NTSF before I set it up with the Xbox media storage program he used.

After wasting hours figuring out why the Xbox Media Tool didn't work, I just got the code and it never check if the disk drive format worked, only if it hard crashed in a nuclear explosion. Essentially the tool run a wrong Format command that give an Exit code 1 which means "Incorrect parameters were supplied." but doesn't crash. The command line also wait for the user to press Y which he can't because it's in the background so it doesn't do anything. I didn't find anything that would bypass the user confirmation so I'm assuming this tool never worked since day 1. Of course I'm not an expert at this so maybe there's a way but it's clearly not working. So I'd strongly advise not using it except to create the folders, do the manual method instead for formatting. Then you can use the Xbox Media Tool to create the users and folders.

First off thank you because of your simple detailed instructions I got emulation working for my series s my only downside is I’m stuck with the shitty retroarch interface instead of the clean interface after updating assets, controller profiles etc which is weird when it use to work back in the day when I followed your tutorials not sure why but other then that everything works flawlessly N64, SNES, GC etc..

If you have already been using USB you just uninstall the old version, install the new version and redirect the directories to your USB drive

Hey man. I've been following your channel for years and you've helped me with so much Xbox and general emulation stuff. I've got a question though and I hope you can help. I don't know if this is the right place but here goes: I seem to be having issues with my Xbox dev mode side acting strange. Many of the apps I download immediately crash. The apps that so open freeze often. I want to reset the dev mode side to stock and start over. However I don't know how. Even the quick actions tab is missing from my home screen. Where I would normally leave without saving to reset everything, I cant. Do you have any idea how to restore the quick actions tab? More importantly, how can I reset the dev mode side without losing stuff on my retail side (aka no factory reset)? Thanks and keep up the amazing channel.

Hey, amazing video, but I have a quick question! I’ve been emulating with both retroarch and XBSX2 for a while now, but some games force me to format the memory card on startup. Now, obviously, since I don’t wanna format my Xbox series s hard drive for ps2, I came to ask you, how do I fix this? Is it something in the XBSX2 settings? (This basically only happens on XBSX2 because when I emulate ps2 I much prefer it over retroarch). Should just allow it to format? Or do I need to change something in the settings?

@ hey mate I fixed the problem so basically while you’re in a game just go to the menu of the emulator then settings and then memory card settings. There create an 8mb memory card and set it as default. Then whenever the game asks you to format, just click on “yes”, and the emulator will say “(memory card name).ps2 has been saved. Then it’ll be formatted and u can play any game

@ make sure to have your region formatting in the emulator settings on default, that way if you’re playing an American (NTSC-U) game it will automatically switch to that, same thing with European games.

Both of those downloads wanted me to install them directly on my computer. So I'm stuck at the moment. Any help for those of us who aren't totally literate with this kind of thing?

I have a question regarding Configuration files. Following your guide (thank you so much for) I have the Directory pointed to the E drive. Upon saving or reopening Retroarch, it is pulling from the Q drive. On your video as well it shows that when you save it, it is saving to the Q drive. Is that correct? If so, what is the point of pointing the directory if it is not saving it there? Thank you very much!

If it is switching back to q it is having trouble seeing your USB drive to keep the changes

Ah, but everything else works as expected. I don’t receive any errors on any functions, I just noticed it is saving/loading config from the Q drive - just like I see in your video. Am I missing something? Thank you for your reply :)

Been having a problem with this. Everything will work fine for a few hours, games will run etc. but all of a sudden I will turn on Xbox, and any app I’ve loaded on will simply say “Oops something went wrong” and refuse to open. Anyone having the same issue?

dang it I didn't pay attention that I needed a computer for this but I still managed to purchase developer now I gotta wait a few months to get a computer

Technically, you don't need a computer unless you plan on adding the permissions to your usb. You can access the dev portal through your phone, download and add stuff internally if you're on android. Not sure about iPhones since they're trash

Hi, rewatched the video again and im trying the angled version for the xbox one however when im loading the dependancies X64 im getting a failed 'Windows cannot install package because a higher version is installed' any advice, do any of your other videos cover this issue to find a fix? thanks so much

Hi, first of all, thank you for your video, it was really helpful! I’ve been able to play my old games on my Xbox Series X. I followed all your steps and put all my games on an external HDD, and everything works fine. However, I can’t get thumbnails to show up for my games, no matter what I try. I’ve tried downloading them one by one, using the Playlist Thumbnails Updater, and I even enabled the “On Demand” option, but still no thumbnails. I checked the settings, and thumbnails are enabled, so that’s not the issue either. I have over 2000 games that run perfectly, so I find it hard to believe all of them are named incorrectly. I even renamed some games manually, but that didn’t work either. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong or have any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry one more question... Would you recommend using the 1.19 version with possible broken slang shaders or the 1.18.15 version that is tested. Honestly not too familiar with slang shaders and how the performance will be affected. Thank you

Hey there Archades! Love the video and thanks for making it so user-friendly for noobs like me! I have a quick question, I'm trying to upgrade my external HDD to an SSD, do I just format the new drive with the media tool and copy everything over to it? Should it just plug and play?

Yup get it formatted to NTFS with the permissions then copy everything over to it and it will be good to go
