If you are having problems with the ssd, right click on the ssd in MY PC, click format, click from Exfat to NTFS, the format it, then run the program that he mentioned. I did this and it fixed it because it wasn't set to NTSF before I set it up with the Xbox media storage program he used.

First off thank you because of your simple detailed instructions I got emulation working for my series s my only downside is I’m stuck with the shitty retroarch interface instead of the clean interface after updating assets, controller profiles etc which is weird when it use to work back in the day when I followed your tutorials not sure why but other then that everything works flawlessly N64, SNES, GC etc..

After wasting hours figuring out why the Xbox Media Tool didn't work, I just got the code and it never check if the disk drive format worked, only if it hard crashed in a nuclear explosion. Essentially the tool run a wrong Format command that give an Exit code 1 which means "Incorrect parameters were supplied." but doesn't crash. The command line also wait for the user to press Y which he can't because it's in the background so it doesn't do anything. I didn't find anything that would bypass the user confirmation so I'm assuming this tool never worked since day 1. Of course I'm not an expert at this so maybe there's a way but it's clearly not working. So I'd strongly advise not using it except to create the folders, do the manual method instead for formatting. Then you can use the Xbox Media Tool to create the users and folders.

Technically, you don't need a computer unless you plan on adding the permissions to your usb. You can access the dev portal through your phone, download and add stuff internally if you're on android. Not sure about iPhones since they're trash

Hey man. I've been following your channel for years and you've helped me with so much Xbox and general emulation stuff. I've got a question though and I hope you can help. I don't know if this is the right place but here goes: I seem to be having issues with my Xbox dev mode side acting strange. Many of the apps I download immediately crash. The apps that so open freeze often. I want to reset the dev mode side to stock and start over. However I don't know how. Even the quick actions tab is missing from my home screen. Where I would normally leave without saving to reset everything, I cant. Do you have any idea how to restore the quick actions tab? you need sega CD bios for it run properly. make sure you tell retroarch where to find the bios to run the games.

@@andyharleychannel3817 double check the settings, retroarch will override certain cores without looking for bios files, i've been able to play a few ps1/dreamcast titles that way. There should be a guide telling you all the essential files you need to optimize cores/standalone emulators. Flycast, PCSX2, Duckstation, are all the UWPs I'd recommend using. Dolphin standalone is good but it asks to boot from USB.

Hi, first of all, thank you for your video, it was really helpful! I’ve been able to play my old games on my Xbox Series X. I followed all your steps and put all my games on an external HDD, and everything works fine. However, I can’t get thumbnails to show up for my games, no matter what I try. I’ve tried downloading them one by one, using the Playlist Thumbnails Updater, and I even enabled the “On Demand” option, but still no thumbnails. I checked the settings, and thumbnails are enabled, so that’s not the issue either. I have over 2000 games that run perfectly, so I find it hard to believe all of them are named incorrectly. I even renamed some games manually, but that didn’t work either. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong or have any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I tried the full retroarch for xbox series x and I've tried retroarch mesa, I accidentally tried updating the cores in both, and it erased the cores. I click update cores, it gives me a whole bunch of cores that are libetro all the way through. I can't seem to get my NES or older systems to work anymore. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled other versions of retroarch and I still can't seem to see any of the cores I need. I definitely did something wrong at some point. I'll reinstall the full retroarch for xbox series x again soon.

Hello it wont let me download the retroarch because i am trying to put those 2 files in my games and apps and i cant even download the retroarch

hey I don't know if you will be able to answer this but which emulator would you advise the most for Silent Hills games? Retroarch or XBSX2?

My dev mode won’t let me open apps anymore just kicks me back to the dev mode menu after the initial loading screen of which ever app

I just researched this myself and there is still no fix. I ended up downgrading to v1.17 to get shaders working.
