Xbox Wireless Headset Full Review: Worth it!

*I realized I said "somewhat over the ear headphones and not quite of an “in-ear” headphones" at 5:20. My video edit for that didn’t post right and that's an editing mistake-there should’ve been a huge “on ear” text correction there for every time I said "in ear" as I keep saying "in ear" for some automated reason. It should've been "on ear". *I've been seeing comments saying there's "voice noise cancellation" feature. There's no "voice noise cancellation" feature. That's misleading. It's an Auto-mute and voice _isolation_ feature, not cancellation. I featured and explained that at 8:53 **The one about Sound Latency:* I didn't mention this in my video since there's a VERY, very small percentage of people out there that can tell, but for those few of us who can detect it (like me) here is my quick note and opinion about it. TL;DR, it's not a huge delay at all and will not affect your gameplay unless you are mega paranoid about everything needing to be 1ms latency especially for a 100 bucks WIRELESS device. Anyway, based on my experience, there's only about roughly 50ms - 60ms sound delay when connected to my Xbox natively -- similar to the Xbox controller (non-bluetooth). It's _extremely_ minimal and very hard to demonstrate on video that people might think I might be going crazy trying to prove a 50ms delay. My rule of thumb is anything that is less than 300ms sound delay (especially first person shooter) is very good. For iOS/Android connectivity (via bluetooth), I'd say there's maybe 35ms - 50ms as well for sound latency. For PC though, it’s about 200ms to maybe even 300ms cuz of bluetooth connectivity, but most folks will be using this headset and its features for their xbox, and the milliseconds delay is so minimal especially to the untrained ears. There’s definitely a huge difference when compared to the Raizen Kaira Pro Wireless headset and others that cost more than the Xbox Wireless Headset though, so I try not to expect too much for this $100 headset. Nonetheless, it’s still feature packed and really good when paired with Xbox natively. Microsoft also releases updates and provides improvements for the Xbox Wireless Headset, so what doesn't work properly right now may get better with the next update. Lastly, thanks for all the subs! I know I'm only at 460 subscribers after doing this KZbin thing for 2.5 years now, but that's a lot for me!

I have them and what I love the most about them other then they also sound great to me! I'm not looking for 300 headsets that have built in batteries that will die and be worthless rather spend 100 bucks every 3 to 5 yrs then waste that kind money on a headset. Xbox killed it with these

In terms of the build I loved it. So easy for xbox owners to set up an use. But returned them bc I just didn't like the sound quality. If they improve the sound it would definitely be a win. Ordered the steel series so excited for them to come

I'm interested to know more about the Dolby Atmos part - based on your experiences using this headset, is it true that MS gives you use of the feature (included in the purchase price of this headset) for a limited period and thereafter charges $15 once off to use the service for life - have I got that part right? Thanks for watching, highly appreciate it and glad it helped! The Dolby Atmos is currently still on free trial when you purchase the Xbox headphones-they’re good until September 30, 2021. After the trial, you can purhase and pay a $15 USD one time payment and it’s unlocked for life as it’s tied to your email account that you use to purchase it, meaning-it’s unlocked for your Xbox and Windows 10 PC. As far as global offering for the trial, I’m in the US, but I would assume so as Dolby Atmos is just a software/audio enhancement program that is readily available/can be installed for many devices worldwide such as Xbox and Windows 10 PC. However, the Xbox Wireless Headset itself is only available in 30 markets worlwide, so it’s more of whether the headset itself is available at your country or not, rather than the Dolby Atmos :) For me, I purchased the Dolby Atmos loooong time ago, so I don’t get to try out the free trial, but my gf is currently on the trial right now for her account and she’s likin’ it :)

I know this is more oriented towards Xbox owners but no one seems to be checking how good it works when connected over Bluetooth or the Xbox Wireless Adapter on PC. I play mainly on PC but have a Series X and want to use it there as well. It would be nice to know the pros and cons of using it over Bluetooth VS the proprietary Xbox Wireless adapter on PC.

What I love best about the headset is you can Bluetooth and listen to music and take calls from your phone while it's Bluetoothed to the console! That's so awesome! And you can adjust your music and game volume so everything sounds perfect!

tnx for watching! No difference in sound quality with the wired version. However, the sound latency from time to time that plagues the wireless will be eliminated by using the wired version (especially when playing Halo infinite)

I love the headset but I hate the plush earpads. My ears were so sweaty and uncomfortable after like 30 min. I replaced it with breathable ones. I like my Astro a50's more. My ears never get sweaty.

9.5 out of 10 for me. Overall mic sound quality is what's preventing it from getting a perfect 10. It sounds a little hallow for my liking, but everything else is great.

Thanks for watching!! Honestly, i wouldn’t spend more than $120 from resellers for this Xbox headset, so if you got $150 - $180 to spare, I’d recommend to just get the Steelseries Arctis 7x. Very versatile as well and its got a better voice chat tone and slightly better mic monitoring control feature compared to the Xbox wireless headset.

Great question-I have beats solo 3 and Bose QC35-I guess they’re somewhat comparable with Beats Studio 3 Wireless. They’re great headphones for for music, but gaming wise, I feel like they’re all missing some much needed sounds (in my opinion of course). Also, this Xbox Wireless Headset is far superior when it comes to controls and sound customizability when paired with your xbox one and series x or S (or even PC…which I should probably do a video on). But yes, it’s definitely worth for gaming.

Great point here, and I didn't mention this. I wear glasses when I play too, but only for short periods as I usually wear contacts. Honestly these are okay, same thing for Corsair. If you're gonna be playing for say 4 - 5 hours, I'd say get the Turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2. They're wireless and 100% glasses friendly.

I was actually surprised too when I first got it and tested it that it works on a Macbook because of the same reason as the Steel Series' issue with connecting with Macbooks, and I thought it's just specifically made for Xbox, Windows OS and iPhone/Android. Anyway for Steel Series there's like extra steps that you gotta do unlike with this Xbox headphone. Yes you can, and when you change the phone volume, it doesn’t change the game volume, only the phone volume and the dial on the headset only controls the game audio, not phone

honestly, nah. Go for the Steelseries 7x if your budget allows it. It’s better built/looks, more neutral sound profile fresh outta the box, and just overall better mic performance, and battery life. Also, can be used on Playstation too.

Great question, at the time this video was made, it was great, but a few weeks later to now, the mic monitoring has gotten really, really weak for some reason after a few updates. I'm not sure if Microsoft is experimenting with something but I can only sometimes hear myself. Microsoft is aware of the issue though apparently and they're 'working' on a fix, but who knows when that will be. Overall, my friends can still hear me..it's just annoying that I can't hear myself though :/

For me, i just lower the volume of my soundbar when I play a game-i get really thrown off when playing i hear two of the same sound since it sounds like an echo, and maybe it’s just me, but the game latency gets affected a bit in my experience, probably cuz of how my mind and motor functions are being thrown from the sound

I have exactly the same issue. Mic is very poor, sounds like you´re talking in a can with bad reception. Hopefully there will be a firmware update, but I´m not sure.

Yup, you can use a USB-C cable to receive audio and power from a connected device. You may need to purchase a longer USB-C cable though, cuz one included with the headset for charging purposes is only 14 inches (1.1 feet) long.
