Caline sent this to me free of charge in exchange for my honest review. These are the new cosmetic versions, no USB port on top anymore, and the drastic voltage drop under heavy load has been corrected. I was able to point out the resistor value was wrong and they made the correction in production.
I really like seeing true isolation between the outputs and as well the incoming wall power. Inherently this type of circuit design (switch mode for isolation and linear voltage regulators for the output ports) limits the mA rating (500mA max) of each output, but overall the rated currents will run 99% of all the pedals on the market. High current pedals would need their own PSU, or a more capable multi pedal PSU like the Cioks, Strymon, Voodoo Labs, etc.
Great budget unit, and construction is very well built! Any questions comments, issues, drop me a comment. Calines contact info is below. I am also in touch with them weekly on various issues to help the community!

Thank you for watching! Yes at that point I was simply a consumer of Caline trying to get my problem solved. They were very helpful and listened to my feedback, to which their engineers looked at the circuit again and identified what components needed to change in order to fix the problem. Since then I've been helping them out where I can with their product line. It's a great power hobby and I enjoy helping out the community! We live in a world where you don't need to spend a lot of money to get good quality equipment.

Thanks for the video and you're seems a very competent electrical enginner. It's surprising that Caline uses normal linear regulator instead of switching dc converter. I'll buy the psu ASAP
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 9 ай бұрын
It's not really surprising because it's a proven technology and it's also very inexpensive. Once you start adding a switching DC converter there are a lot more design elements required to make that technology work properly for the given application. As a result the burden cost of the product increases. Thank you for watching and supporting the channel!

Hi there! Thank you for such an informative video, I have a couple of questions please.. Will this unit power Boss pedals correctly? I have (in order of placement) TU-2, CH-1, DS-1, PH-3, DD-6, and don't want to do anything to mess up my pedals. Also, in your opinion, is this the best order to place the pedals or would you have a better suggestion? Thanks in advance, and great channel..
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 9 ай бұрын
No problem at all with Boss pedals! I'd do TU-2, DS-1, CH-1, PH-3, and DD-6. Gain pedals first, then modulation pedals last. Tuner should always be first.

Hope this makes sense. Can 2 of these be linked together by running a cable between the 18v out of one into the 18v in on the other or should each have their own power cable from the wall source.
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 4 ай бұрын
Run each power brick with their own wall adapter is best. While what you suggest is theoretically possible it's severely limits the output current of the second brick if you do it that way

I do have a question with what I am ising now which is a cheap 10.00 daisy chain. I run mostly caline mod pedals through my effects loop and a caline Jaguar in front. I was noticing a crackling static sound from my distortion pedal. All pedals are fairly new. Would a daisy chain cause this? From what I am seeing on your vid, It seems possible?

Hi..i have the cp 207..i don't know what happened but most of the 9V ports is now reading half voltage or less..one totally no voltage output..few ports still reads 9V but unable to power 200-500 mAh pedals. Only the 12 and 18 volt ports are both good I believe..What could be the issue?
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 2 ай бұрын
I don't know without looking at the board but I am aware of an issue where the converter circuit from the incoming DC voltage that converts it to AC voltage, that oscillator circuit has had issues. It could be a simple MOSFET failing in that circuit that may need replacing. There are two of them. If one fails then you get a half wave and half the rectified voltage, which would explain your symptoms. You are not the only one to mention this type of failure, for that reason Caline and I Are beta testing a new updated circuit board design that actually improves this oscillator circuit and at the same time eliminates the linear voltage regulator outputs. There are still some issues to work through. I'm really pushing them to increase the amperage capacity, that also creates more complexity.

Do you have any experience with the CP-204? I couldn't find any reviews for it. Thanks.
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 2 ай бұрын
No I have not reviewed that particular model. I know that it is not a true isolation power supply rather a daisy chain type of topology. It has separate outputs where if you short one the rest will still operate. I haven't heard of anything negative of it though.

@@Bassguitarist1985 I'm a little worried that the pedals won't hum... But the small size appeals to me a lot.
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 2 ай бұрын
@@tomaszmichnik there's a chance that it may not hum at all. The bigger issue with power supplies that a lot of people don't know is the actual power supply circuitry within the pedal. If they are not properly filtered which a lot of early digital pedals are not for example, those perturbations and noise will feed back into the power supply lines and through the other pedals if they are daisy chained. With an isolated power supply it doesn't matter if the pedal has inadequate filtering it's on its own separate circuitry in the power supply and won't bleed to other pedals. Sure they are sharing the same ground plane through the quarter inch from your guitar through to the pedals to your amp but with one path to ground there's less likely to be any noise. Still isolated power supplies are the way to go for any potential noise issues being squashed
