XC70 Power Steering Pump Upgrade to XC90

yeah i did my rack from a 2006 s60 2 weeks ago ...its an all day job but if your doing it i recommend an IPD sway bar ...your there and its a royal pain that rack !!! Detroit axle on ebay about $300 for a new rack and id guess a shop 5-6 hrs of labor( X $130 an hour in my area ) to do it .. on your back on the pavement probably around 10-12 hrs with breaks !!!

if you want to increase or decrease the power of the power steering pump, simply adjust the screw under the sticker. by tightening the screw you can get up to 130 bar, unscrewing up to 100 bar. Greetings from Poland. I'm sorry but my English is poor.

That’s pretty interesting, Lukas’s. Thank you for sharing. What happens when you turn the screw to it’s limit? Does it stop turning or could it come right out?

@@Bigtime_mcalpine if you screw the screw all the way in, you will get the highest pressure of 130 bar. You must remember that these are not new parts and the pulley oring may leak or the steering gear. by unscrewing the screw you get lower pressure and you have to be careful because the screw can be unscrewed, this screw has an O-ring and if you screw it too much it will leak. My volvo s60 car I have set the pressure at 125 bar and it is wonderful. In my work I have it easier because we have a bench test for power steering pumps and there you can see smooth operation of pressure change by adjusting this screw.

Are you sure?. The function of the relief valve is literally as a safety valve to relieve excess fluid pressure and component overheating when the steering wheel is cranked hard to either extreme front wheel lock position. I don't think it has to raise the system pressure.

@@ErfanRa..EagleFlyTech Yes I am sure. The first generation volvo s60 and the second v70 have two 110 bar and 120 bar pumps. They are the same, only the screw is screwed in more, which changes the location of the valve. In this type of pump, the pressure is changed by means of a screw located under the sticker, other pumps, e.g. vw ag, it is enough to increase the number of washers under the valve or reduce it and in this way the pressure is regulated. We have been doing this in our company for 25 years :)

@@MrLuki02 hello. I also have. S60 with the 110bar steering pump. Can you be specific about how much more pressure you get by screwing the screw tighter? From its original position, if you screw it 90 degrees more, is it too much? Thank you

I only have a problem with the power steering wheel I’m trying to manoeuvre at low revs. If the revs are slightly higher it’s fine but being an auto that’s not possible.
