For me the song is about the pain of living through every day, being limited, trapped, and controlled by the constant and brutal indifference of time, and Knowing that it will one day come to a sudden and probably agonizing end in roughly 90 years. Resulting in what MIGHT be an afterlife, with next to no faith or hope in a higher power without sufficient proof. Meanwhile time continues on without me as I am left behind to be forgotten.
