The reason for distortion even after speaker driver update is due to the sound imbalance of its board. Maybe using a mini 3W amplifier would fix this problem. And for the bass, a passive radiator could be placed below. It can give the booming effect when keeping it in the corner of a room.

I did exactly, except for the battery, i can’t seems to find a smaller size battery here, i go with the same mAh but big size and end up placing my battery outside the unit. , the 1.5” speaker sounds a little bit better than the original stock one which is causing a distortion sound during 70% of volume, the smaller speaker sounds less distorts and I eneded up playing my speaker for almost 17 hours straight. 😁 Compared to the originals battery which last for 2 hours only.

You are right. Its all about decent Amp and dsp processing. Ive put two Denon envaya mini drivers as well as passive radiator from that denon into a cheap chinese wooden speaker and sound is still crap. These denon drivers are good quality but with shitty Amp and no dsp they sound very bad.

If you're going to replace the amp, battery and speaker then you might as well just make a wooden box (or buy one), put these components into it and make a better speaker yourself. And whilst you're at it, you could even buy two speakers and a stereo amp to get stereo sound :)

After the upgrade it does sound more distorted but the cause of it is the Amplifier Board,The Speaker Enhanced the sound of the amplifier but the amplifier is a cheap and bad quality one. For the best audio quality try finding a better amplifier board because that one sure messed up the sound.

The big speaker was 4 ohms 3W, this was too weak The smaller speaker was 4 ohms 5W, which is more powerful. But it would have been better to get a larger speaker at 5W.

You should use a speaker with the same size, then stronger than 5W. But i think the distortion is due of that the speaker is blocked by the gride. You should put your speaker behind your plastic piece.

The $5 upgrade didn't actually do much to increase the quality of the sound output. The "new" speaker cone was too small. The only thing you have now is a crap speaker with a big battery, instead of a crap speaker with a small battery.

i also want to do something like that i have lots of speakers lying around 10 years old, with just 2 wires coming out and the speakers are of top quality lying around with no use, i have to just change the bluetooth module that is easily available for 100 rupees and one good power bank type battery to keep it running for playing for at least 10 hours...thats it so total cost i think should be around 500-1000 indian rupees around 10 dollars but it will be home made powerful speakers...

Not sure about the one he has in this video but I've got a similar one and it has solder points on the back of the board for right and left, it was only using the right one. I soldered a stereo socket to the points and plugged it into a HiFi system and it works fine.
