It's been a month since XDefiant launched, wild how fast that's gone by already... Felt like that past year we were in anticipation of the game's launch that it just dragged on but so far, the first month I feel like has flown by. In a just under 2 weeks' time we'll be entering season 1 and taking a look at new content but in the mean time I wanted to take a look at XDefiant as a whole after 1 month, laying out what I think is the good, bad and everything in between in a first month review. Ded sec is super helpful when up againtst a team of phantoms in control for example ., emp grenades on restock and hi jack can really upset them holding choke points . You save the ultra for the later objectives when there are 2 or 3 phantoms using there ultra . Very underated as a disruption factionthats what they are literally there to do disrupt always good to have at least one player running ded sec.

for me personally I need a higher sens threshold, even with maxed out 100-100 and 2.00 acceleration multiplier I still feel like I can’t match the higher sensitivity’s from cod (I use KF precision rings btw)

For me my biggest issue is bulky movement and lack of mountable/climbable places. This was the same issue I had with the older COD games, where something that you should be able to climb on is not climbable

Stay on cod it is ok. This game was made for fans of classic arcade shooters. Mounting and the crazy climbing and tac sprint paired with doors on the maps are major reasons modern cod 6v6 multiplayer has such terrible pacing/flow. I won’t speak on WZ because I’ve never played it

8.5/10 just need more to grind for and can't wait for ranked. Currently lvl 55 and done with battle pass. One complaint is throwing me in losing matches and some more tweaks to hit reg would be nice.

Weapon xp and levels is solely tied to kills, there's no additional xp for obj play or anything else. I'd suggest playing whatever mode you can get the most kills in. Dom is good as the map is easier to read in terms of spawn points and control, it's easier to sort of post up on cover somewhere and expect enemies coming form the other end. However escort can be decent for kills if you're above average but bad if you're below average. Reason being the spawn delay and time to get to action, if you're good you can post up as said above and the enemies will always come from one direction. But if you're not great you'll get killed too often and spend all your in game time spawning and running!

I was doing terrible myself im on pc with mouse and kb. What changed for me is to really focus on aiming and making sure your reticle is pointed in the direction enemies are more likely to be when running around the maps. Also if your getting killed a lot ... slow down and just play im sections. Like just stay in one area and patrol it. I used to get killed a lot pushing to far into enemy spawn areas and getting shot in the back or sides.

dedsec hijack is my go to if the enemy team has at least 3 things that I can hack. being able to print landmines means you can place 2 at a time and as a sniper is awesome especially in escort you can literally just keep placing them on the path lmao. I couldn't think of a more annoying faction and I didn't even mention canceling ultimates

I’m really enjoying the game but I have to say I have to sweat like hell each match to maintain a positive K/D. Way more than I have to in COD. I hope I get better at the game but it gets a bit tedious to play.

Here’s my review: Maps: 8/10 (Mayday is a little one sided on domination and Emporium is not for me) Gunplay/Visuals: 9/10 I have a bias for smooth animations/gunplay in MW3 but xdefiant is really well designed. Recoil not hard to control, kills are satisfying. Graphics are solid and the game is optimized well. Game modes: 9/10 (fuck escort) Camos: 7/10 Need more camos! (Not the 300+ that MW3 has just a few solid ones) Communication between the devs and Mark are amazing! Other: need more things to do, net code is iffy, 1 year delay sucked, want pings, deadsec a little annoying (spiderbot), nothing super game breaking (the game is still super fun)

I disagree with the faction bit. I do agree that dedsec are kinda weak other than the stupid spiderbot, but the rest? Not so much. Phantoms seem to be the most powerful right now, but Cleaners are awesome with some of the guns, Libertads provide a lot of sustain and Echelon is good on close range maps

Because I will lay half a mag into someone and they'll turn around and kill me in 5 shots while I'm still hit them with rounds. I give the game a 6 out of 10 but it could be a 7 or 8 with some work.

It is kind of funny with the factions! Echelon is the faction I have played with the least by far. And Deadsec, is alomst double the time of any other faction. Yeah the "wallhack" are nice, but they have a very limited range, and are spaced out, even less than a second after your ping ran out, someone can be in your face that wasn't pinged! I quickly found that I got over reliant on them, and forgot to play smart because I assumed I would know where everyone was. It is to me the most overrated ability in the game (that doesn't mean it is bad, just that people make it out to be a lot better than it is). The invisibility.... it's nice enough. It was great for weapon unlock challenges to get point blank and hipfire kills. I find it more gimmick than usefull, though I guess it could be good for getting flanks on teams that otherwise lock you down pretty good. And because I myself is so bad at looking at minimap, and because this ability to not go on it exist, alongside a lot of attachments to keep players off, I don't find that passive to be as usefull as it might sound. For deadsec. I always been a heavy grenade user, and good at it. Its a utilty MANY overlook and forget, and only use rarely, where I like to use it heavy to give me that advantage, so not having to save on them as much, really is nice. The spiderbot is a lethal target seeking stun grenade. it gives me a lot of kills. it saves me when someone has flanked around us, it tells me what to way to run. it gives free kills, even when I don't follow it. And on top of that - and I know how many will think I am a pure scumbag, but just the mental thing of how mad it makes people, and how demoralizing it is. People get mad, and start making even more mistakes. If the other team use a lot of shields, or have many spider users, I might switch to the hack ability. It is kind of the most useless ability in the game, but having a spider turn around and jump on the guy following it for a free kill is even better than sending out your own spider. And the ultra! Well I love ruining peoples fun when they finally get goggles, and they are just shut down instantly. Or for more objective play where they get the bubble shield, and doing a hail mary sure they will win now, and I just cancel it so we can clear the spot and keep them away. Cleaners are good. for some weapons to end people, for firebomb, and even the drone. The ultra is kind of hit and miss, and hard to really do anything good with consistently. Phantoms are more tanky, the shields is great in a lot of objective gamemodes. ultra often good for a last push in objective modes, specially on the linear maps. Healers... Not bad either. both ability have good and bad things. the ultra is really good, but I sometime forget it doesn't make me invincible, and it is over very fast.

Yeah solo is rough because if you’re the best rated player in the game (#1) then the other team gets the #2 and 3 players, while your next best teammate is #4. So if you’re the #1 seed then you get the worse teammates.

I feel like there is an insane honey moon phase going on right now. Hit reg is a pretty huge deal in an FPS. I played around 5 matches & it felt like a really cheap COD. Bullets hitting the enemy does not have a great impact. Movement feels stiff. Having a COD like game that continues to grow past one year could be cool but this game still feels like it needs a lot of work. There are aspects that are hard to put your finger on that make a game super sticky & this game lacks them.

Good video games run on passion, things need to come together organically and with care. But every bit of successful media, it's soul is lost with every success. It's extremely sad so see, but with growth comes shareholders and a constant emotionless consuming need to set the bar higher. The success of a developer is seen as a an asset to sell rather than an asset to grow. I had hopes for Microsoft to be a financial powerhouse to explore potential, but more and more I'm seeing a power grab for less competition.

Im level 130 thats how much i love this game already ! I use to be a warzone sweat 😂 Im enjoying the xdef experience tonnes more than cod , no stress just fun games . Great gunplay , fluid movement and most importantly the transparency of the devs and the changes they make almost instantly! . O the firing range is levels above cods basic crap . Great place to fine tune your arsenal .
