Hey, so it’s never mentioned anywhere so I might as well say it. Matthew’s gauntlets, which eventually Noah inherits into his sword and gauntlet, has the essence of the Pnuema core crystal, while N’s sword has the essence of the Logos core crystal.
@Boulder7685 Жыл бұрын
I need more evidence to really buy into it that Noah inherited Pneuma actually. No way did Matthew leave his gauntlets behind at the City where Riku was, nor is there any way that Riku stayed with the City long enough to wait for Matthew’s descendants to return to the City to take the gauntlets with him before incorporating himself into the Kevesi army. Occam’s Razor says it’d be more likely that Riku based Noah’s unsheathing gauntlet on what he saw of Matthew’s gauntlets. Noah’s Sword of Origin is something he can summon before having merged with N and gaining the powers of Logos, and it would be hella weird if the Sword of Origin only required whatever made Lucky Seven special and Pneuma. Why wouldn’t it require the powers of all three cores from the Trinity Processor? It doesn’t make sense. That being said, I don’t think anyone would argue that Lucky Seven was specially forged in the image of the Monado, and the same blueprint as Origin, both being of Ontos (just look at the use of Kanji to represent its Arts when it’s unsheathed). It’s fine to point out that N’s Sword of the End is similar to Lucky Seven, if different, because Logos/Malos’ Monado was clearly fashioned after Ontos’ original, but I don’t see it sharing the same ties to Origin as Lucky Seven constantly showed itself to uniquely have, such as the flute-off scene at Colony Omega. Which is all to say, Lucky Seven’s strength comes from its ties to Origin and Ontos rather than Pneuma, who’s represented by the Ouroboros Forms and Interlinking and with Logos’ support managed to connect to Origin and form the mega Ouroboros used to take down Alpha. Down to hear if there is more evidence though because I don’t have a counter theory to where Pneuma’s core went.
@Justic_ Жыл бұрын
We don't really know if Noah really inherits that, so far that's just speculation due to Noah having a gauntlet and the green glow.
@faintduch6630 Жыл бұрын
@Boulder7685 that's... A large response for a short comment but, valid. Personally I'm not sure Pneuma's actual Core Crystal is even in the Fists of the end. With blades, it seems in certain cases that there is a copy of their core crystal created in their weapons, for example, Malos' monado having copy of his core within it and the Aegis Core crystal being completely intact on Pyra and Mythra's swords while their actual Core crystal is still split between them and Rex in Xenoblade 2. Maybe the true core crystal of Pneuma is holding origin with logos or whatever, but maybe the weapon's core crystal is what is within Mathew's gauntlets, and I think that would explain why Rex's swords, while still clearly being Pyra and Mythra's, lack the core crystal. I'm not an expert or anything on this but that's just what I think

@raphnoble808 Жыл бұрын
@Boulder7685 here’s my take, though admittedly, it lacks the amount of evidence you desire. Let’s assume Pneuma and Logos has the same ability that Ontos has: the ability to choose an avatar through which to act. I think Pneuma and Logos chose Matthew and N as their avatars. They do have more humanity in them than Ontos, so I think it is believable they wanted avatars, but didn’t want to strip them of their will like Alpha did, which is why they chose instead to manifest as their weapons as opposed to outright integrating with their body. Pneuma playing an active role in choosing her inheritor sidesteps a lot of the issues regarding her inheritance in the Vandham line. I have no evidence for this aside from Ontos appearing willy-nilly to randos on beaches and thinking Pneuma can prob do that too. Since she’s connected to Origin on the basis of having similar architecture (assuming all the cores were made equally), she can choose to reincarnate as well as choose her inheritor. Now, did Noah inherit Pneuma? I think so, but it requires buying a lot of MY previous suppositions. The only real hints we get is that it seems to resonate with N’s sword, which may have Logos in it, and it emits a green glow in some cutscenes - the one that comes to mind is the first interaction with Moebius where Vandham sees a green glow. There’s also the fact that it may have been able to override Y’s mind control, but the line between Pneuma’s powers and JRPG music bs is thin. WRT Noah’s Sword of Origin - it’s kinda hinted that it was never complete. You only get the final master art after fusing with N. It seems like it was always sufficient in taking down Moebius, but never fully powered - like Link’s master sword before finishing the sword trials. Does it need Ontos’ power as well? I would argue it never needed Ontos’ power because A was always fighting against Moebius in the behind the scenes. Besides, Z was created as Origin’s AI, which was a copy of Ontos’ architecture. In essence, the final battle in 3 becomes Logos and Pneuma vs a rogue Ontos… Just a theory…

@basedfrost882 Жыл бұрын
Incredibly lengthy, but VERY important details here. People seem to be misinterpreting the whole "Logos core in N's sword" thing heavily. It's not the actual Logos core. Let me explain: Logos / Malos' core completely disintegrates in Xenoblade 2. Go watch the cutscene. Hypothetically, even if it didn't, it still got blown up in the World Tree explosion. The events of Xenoblade 2 happen WAY before Origin ever existed. In Chapter 8 of Xenoblade 2 when Pneuma temporarily heals Jin, she refers to herself as the "master blade" and says, "The master blade possesses the data of all blade cores". This is the reason Malos needed to kidnap Pyra- so he could sift through her core crystal and restore his own core with the backup data saved. This DLC confirmed a VERY IMPORTANT DETAIL people seem to be missing. In Xenoblade 3, everyone in the world is given a Blade to use. How is this possible? Well, it's explained in Future Redeemed that everyone has the ability to unlock the Ouroboros power (see Future Redeemed chapter 2 when Nikol first asks about it), which means that everyone in the world is birthed with direct connections to the Pneuma cores, similar to how blades are all connected to the Master Blade. This direct connection allows people to more or less inherent Blade weapons. In order for people to awaken Ouroboros, they must be touched with the Ouroboros light. But how does this work? It's simple: Ouroboros is a simulation of the process of both Pyra and Mythra's cores fusing together to create Pneuma, the single self. But how does THAT make sense!? In Future Redeemed, when finishing off Alpha, N pulls out his Sword of The End, and says to Matthew "Release the power of Ouroboros!" and stabs his sword into the ground. The energy it emits is NOT purple. It's green. Immediately afterwards, one of the Pneuma cores reveals themselves to be inside Matthew's gauntlet. Matthew combines the power of his Pneuma core in his gauntlet and the power of N's sword into a single power. The release of this power is exactly the same as the Ouroboros stone, and causes the whole party to fuse into an Ouroboros. What does this mean for The Sword of The End though? The Sword of The End / Lucky Seven isn't just made up of memories of important people. It is also directly connected to Pyra and Mythra, which is why there are TWO of them. Remember how I said that everyone born into the world is given a Blade to use due to being directly connected with the Master Blade, Pneuma? Riku is instructed to wait until the right time to give someone who is worthy to wield the sword, which ends up being Noah (aka, the other half of N). Because Pyra and Mythra are connected to the swords, this is how their cores are summoned into the sheaths of N and Noah's Blades, and the reason N keeps one of the Pneuma cores + Sword of The End after his last death. Matthew's gauntlet is an OUTLIER because the Pneuma core is already inside of it, which explains Rex's initial surprise when he says "No way!" when Matthew's gauntlet glows that familiar green. This is because Pneuma, being the Master Blade and tied to everyone in Aionios since the Ouroboros power is latent in everyone, can choose which weapons to tie themselves to. You might be asking yourself, "but wait! Why did Pyra or Mythra choose to help N if they can directly tie themselves to anyone?" And it's simple: N and Noah are the same person. Riku is instructed to give Lucky Seven to "someone who is worthy", likely knowing ALL of this context about what the swords are capable of since it was forged by his Masterpon Melia. Riku specifically *waited and waited and waited HUNDREDS of years* for Noah to be born, of ALL the people who could've given the sword to. Why? BECAUSE RIKU MET N WHEN THEY FOUGHT IN ORIGIN. He KNEW it was time when Noah was born as a separate entity despite N still existing (which is one of the reasons he likely joined Keves undercover as a "common variety nopon"). When N and Noah fuse back together in Chapter 7 of Xenoblade 3's base game, the camera zooms in on Noah's eye, to show the perfect fusion of not just the two of them, but the re-fusion of the Pneuma cores as well into a single entity. The reason N's sheath glows purple instead of green, even before N became evil, is because either Pyra or Mythra is simulating the role of Logos in the Trinity Processor using the data they had of it on-file as the master blade(s). To further back this up, Rex says "If it was *them*, I don't think they'd even bat an eyelid at helping", to which the camera pans on N's sword and Matthew's gauntlet. Knowing who Malos was, he was influenced by his driver Amalthus to hate the world. But Malos eventually developed his OWN hatred for the fact that he was forced into it. This hatred was what made him want to destroy the world in the first place, and that hatred went beyond driver influence. So even if Malos DID come back with a new, good guy driver, it wouldn't immediately change Malos' point of view. I sincerely doubt that if Malos, who we all know is a self-absorbed dickhead, suddenly just came back without a proper explanation, would willingly let some random dude like N use his power. He would've absolutely shown himself just like Alpha did. We know for a fact that Pneuma has backup data of blade cores, but never ONCE does she use her power to make an entire core crystal out of thin air. She even struggled to help out with restoring a tiny piece of Jin's core, to which Mythra says her restoration wasn't perfect. SO... A, Shulk, and Rex, fill the role of the Avatar to make up for the missing power of the main/ original Ontos core, Alpha. One Pneuma core was with Matthew, and was resummoned into Noah's Blade once Riku gave Noah Lucky Seven. The OTHER Pneuma core has been with N this whole time, since N wields the other sword, and behaves as the Logos core to fill the Trinity Processor. In a metaphorical AND metaphysical sense, Aionios itself IS the Trinity Processor, and is a representation of the Holy Trinity is Christianity. Ontos (The Father), Logos (The Son), Pneuma (The Holy Spirit). It is all just... utterly genius.

Wow. What an amazing, in-depth explanation of some very important story points and mechanics of how things work in Aionios that of course were never made explicit throughout the game and this DLC! After carefully reading through your comment and thinking back on the game overall, I believe you are right on the mark with all this. At the very least, I definitely questioned whether or not Logos' actual core crystal was present in N's sword (as many of us theorized to be the case) because it seemed clear to me that in XC2 his core was utterly destroyed given the events at the end of that game. This explanation definitely clears up a lot for me regarding the story of XC3 in general, and definitely makes me appreciate the overall story and themes of the game so much more for the genius that I think it is. I have to say that Takahashi and the creative team at Monolith Soft truly put a lot of thought into crafting the story that marks the end of the Klaus trilogy-- so much to unpack beyond the surface level of the story! And it's amazing how the DLC indeed does a great job at tying up a lot of the loose ends of the main story, in addition while truly recontextualizing the main game's story in a much more meaningful way! Thanks so much for taking the time to organize your thoughts on these important points of the game's story and writing it all down here for the rest of us Xenoblade fans! It was definitely well worth the read.

You make a good explanation, though the part about Malos is flawed. He says something like this at the end of 2: “If only I’d met you sooner..” to Rex. Also, A says in this game that Logos took the negative information from the masses, and processed it to Ontos. Pneuma takes the positive information, and processes it to Ontos. He wouldn’t do something like Alpha if he came back. Alpha only did what he did because he wanted the City people to escape to a new world. Logos would hate the world, but under a heroic driver, such as Noah/N, he wouldn’t try to destroy the world. That was all Amalthus.

@@FirlowXD It's a clever and very intentional _nod_ to X, no doubt. But not outright canon. The dates mentioned on the radio don't line up with X. X's intro starts in 2054 and May 16 is not on a Wednesday during that year. Not to mention Earth is outright destroyed in X, while in the Klaus trilogy Earth is phased into other dimensions. Project Exodus is a reference to X, yes, but the name "Exodus" is common to many fictional stories. If Takahashi said that Project Exodus was part of Saga's backstory the whole time it could easily make sense. The more overt connections to Saga (Dmitri and the Vector logo) make that canonical connection far more plausible. Worth noting is that Xenosaga and Bandai Namco are explicitly called out in the credits of the game and the intellectual property notices in the Switch menu, so there is _explicitly_ a connection to Xenosaga with this ending. Unlike X's world, Xenosaga does not have any alien life, only humans (and I guess human-adjacent if you want to count Kos-Mos or T-elos as non-human).

The theory goes the Earth in Xenosaga became lost because it was separated and put in pocket dimensions which was all of Xenoblade. Xenosaga shows Earth at the end with Kos Mos floating towards it. Kos Mos finally comes home. The radio is laying the ground work to cleanly tie the stories together. Xenoblade X however can't fit in the narrative of Xenoblade and Xenosaga. It's very important that aliens don't exist in Xenosaga. So the X references are just references but Saga has massive implications for the future. Whatever Xenoblade 4 whether they continue calling it Xenoblade or not will be both Xenoblade 4 and Xenosaga 4. Also if you look at the intellectual property page Xenosaga and Namco Bandai are in the page.

What's funny is that the radio announcements tend to only say something to those who have also played the Xenosaga games, to everyone else it's rather just random radio announcements😂 Bandai Namco is also thanked in the credits and Bandai Namco and Xenosaga are also noted in the copyright description on the Nintendo website. So who knows, maybe after a long time there will be a port of the Xenosaga games😉 for fans of the Xeno games, the section is such a WTF moment

58:38 You and me both, man. I view Future Redeemed as the other half of Xenoblade 3. It felt so incredibly frustrating that a large chunk of the fanbase completely ousted people for even simply liking Xenoblade 1 or 2 more than 3. It really felt like everyone just decided "yep, 3 has a bunch of unexplained stuff in its base game, but it's automatically the best one!" for some reason. Xenoblade is a franchise known for intentionally going out of its way to explain all of the intricacies of how the worlds work and all their rules. There's reasons that Xenoblade's core identity lets it stand out from the rest in the jRPG genre - consistent hard-rock + orchestral mixed music, scaling gigantic titans with colonies of different cultures, and Takahashi's ability to write consistent and intricately explained lore dumps at the end of his stories that somehow manage to blow your mind everytime... and Xenoblade 3's base game ditched (almost) all of it in favor of unmemorable overworld themes (even if they are still compositionally excellent), large and empty wastelands (which do fit the story, but there is almost no major emphasis on level design compared to Xenoblade 2 or even X), and an excruciatingly large emphasis on leaving VERY important plot points overly ambiguous. The whole "oh, it's SYMBOLIC! Feelings and nuance! The SYMBOLISM means it doesn't need to make sense entirely, just go with it" is one of the most frustrating excuses I've seen come out of this fanbase (especially now, after Future Redeemed properly explained almost everything, proving that leaving things the way that base game XB3 did was *never* going to work no matter how much people in the fanbase tried to say otherwise). And if you so much as questioned ANY of these things in Xenoblade 3, people would dogpile you. You were called a "Xenoblade 1 elistist" for liking it more than 3, or you were called a weeb for liking Xenoblade 2 more. It's no secret that Xenoblade as a franchise has a rocky reputation, but it felt like a sizable chunk of XB3 fans were willing to ditch large parts of Xenoblade's core identity if it meant that the game could be seen in the general public eye as the game in the series that was the "hardest to hate" rather than the "easiest to love" and it's an approach to liking media that frustrates me to no end because of the toxic discussion it breeds (like what happened to you during your base game playthrough Roger.) Future Redeemed quite literally redeemed Xenoblade 3's plot for me. 3's base game was my least favorite between the trilogy (excluding gameplay) for all the reasons I just listed. But Future Redeemed gave us music like Aurora Shelf, which upon listening to the first 10 seconds of for the first time instantly made it better than the overworld themes of base XB3 for me- because it's composed in a way that's much closer to Xenoblade's core identity. It gaves us context of why N destroyed the city (something the base game never talks about beyond "N's regret and despair and anger and whatnot"). It gaves us context for the Ouroboros, what happened to Alvis and Pyra/Mythra, who Riku actually is, why certain characters didn't age, and that classic Xeno lore drop with the X and Xenosaga connections. Future Redeemed allowed the audience to actually see the bigger picture of the overarching story that 3 alone could not tell. Counting Future Redeemed into Xenoblade 3 in my ranking, it's now equal to Xenoblade 1 (with 2 being my favorite for a myriad of reasons that would take a dissertation-worth of info to explain lmao).

"yep, 3 has a bunch of unexplained stuff in its base game, but it's automatically the best one!" That isn't true. Most of us called it the best despite the lack of all the answers and we assumed most if not all would be answered in the DLC. It also helps that the storytelling in 3 is much closer to Gears where that game also doesn't explain everything or spell things out. They give you a lot of clues for you to figure out yourself. Like most of what was revealed in Future Redeemed was guessed or theorized for months before Future Redeemed The biggest questions were who was Riku and what happened to Alvis. I also disagree with the overworld being 'unmemorable overworld themes' because the music is more lowkey. Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2 put a lot of emphasizes on the world being great despite all its issues while that isn't in the case in 3. It's world is a hellhole and the music reflects that by having a solemn tone to it even when it's being bombast. "like a sizable chunk of XB3 fans were willing to ditch large parts of Xenoblade's core identity" Now this comes off as elitism since you're telling people what Xenoblade Chronicles' identity is. "game could be seen in the general public eye as the game in the series that was the "hardest to hate" rather than the "easiest to love" and it's an approach to liking media that frustrates me to no end because of the toxic discussion it breeds (like what happened to you during your base game playthrough Roger.)" No, a lot of us like that 3 told the story closer to Gears, at least Disc 1. In many wars, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is closer to a spiritual successor to Gears with N being Grahf, Noah is Fei, Mai is Elly, Z is Deus, The City is Shevat, and with Future Redeemed A being the closest thing to The Wave Existence. "with 2 being my favorite for a myriad of reasons that would take a dissertation-worth of info to explain" That may explain our different opinions since Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for me is easily the weakest. For me it goes 3, X, Torna, 1, and 2. I didn't care for the story Xenoblade Chronicles 2 told, the side-quests were a massive downgrade from X, exploration was a massive downgrade from X, and I didn't care for the RNG Blades despite loving the battle system

@@Ramona122003 "Most of us called it the best despite the lack of all the answers and we assumed most if not all would be answered in the DLC." Relying on the DLC of Xenoblade 3 to "get the full picture" when it was not promised that this is what they'd do prior to the game's release, NOR was it something done *at all* in Xenoblade 1 or 2 is the entire reason people (like Roger) had an issue with the base game in the first place. Having the expectation that Xenoblade 3 would explain everything *within its base game* is not asinine to think when literally both prior Xenoblade games in the trilogy did this. My argument is that people (again, a sizable chunk of Xenoblade 3 fans) got unrightfully angry at those of us who were dissatisfied for simply having an expectation founded upon the series' predecessors. It's not elitist to make an observation of what is considered, by all fronts, elements that are part of Xenoblade's core identity. It's an observation of the key aspects of each game that get relatively praised the most on average when talking about the franchise as a whole, and how all of these elements are synchronous with each other to give us what we as the audience know Xenoblade to be. While there are certain aspects of the franchise's identity that are subjective in terms of what people consider their favorite and most memorable parts of the franchise, there are also objective ones. None of what I have stated about Xenoblade's core identity is based on my own opinion and what I consider to be "the best", far from it. It's based on the foundation of what *every single previous entry* has within each of their foundations, to which, all of what I listed are consistent across the board except for Xenoblade 3. Xenoblade as a franchise is most-known for the aspects I listed as part of its core identity- it has nothing to do with my opinion or views. It is utterly ridiculous to call it elitist. "Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2 put a lot of emphasizes on the world being great despite all its issues while that isn't in the case in 3. It's world is a hellhole and the music reflects that by having a solemn tone to it even when it's being bombast." I am a musician, and I've been a musician for 12 years. I have listened to the Xenoblade 3 soundtrack countless times and analyzed every piece (hell, I even bought the Trinity Box soundtrack.) As I said in my initial comment, the overworld themes are are excellently composed and incredibly well-crafted. However, the music tracks of said overworld themes do not match the compositional style of previous entries. By compositional styles, I mean certain melodic movements (which doesn't refer to how "much" is going on in the song or how bombastic they are, but how the melodies themselves carry the music tracks and the instruments behind them). They match significantly less than the previous 2 entries do, which is why I said they do not fit within the pre-established identity of Xenoblade. Me saying "they aren't memorable" is indeed an opinion, but this opinion is founded upon the pre-established identity of what Xenoblade music was considered to be across the board. These type of melodic movements seen in previous games CAN exist in a game like Xenoblade 3 with its tone and setting without needing to be bombastic, but they simply don't. Again, this observation is not an opinion. It is the way in which these songs are composed. "No, a lot of us like that 3 told the story closer to Gears, at least Disc 1. In many wars, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is closer to a spiritual successor to Gears with N being Grahf, Noah is Fei, Mai is Elly, Z is Deus, The City is Shevat, and with Future Redeemed A being the closest thing to The Wave Existence." Future Redeemed proved that a sizable chunk of the fanbase has never touched Xenogears (or Saga.) Xenogears is a game that hasn't been ported since the PS3 era. Not as many people are in-the-know about it as hardcore Xeno fans are. I have no issues with Takahashi wanting to tell a story in the Gears style, but to do it as a way to end the Klaus Saga, a story in which something that neither Xenoblade 1 or 2 did to tell its own stories, was a very strange choice that rightfully left a lot of people frustrated. "That may explain our different opinions since Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for me is easily the weakest. For me it goes 3, X, Torna, 1, and 2. I didn't care for the story Xenoblade Chronicles 2 told, the side-quests were a massive downgrade from X, exploration was a massive downgrade from X, and I didn't care for the RNG Blades despite loving the battle system" And that's perfectly fine. You're entitled to have your own opinion. The thing to consider, however, is that a LOT of the Xenoblade fans that are still around today jumped on the Xenoblade ship with 2's release, and went back to play Xenoblade 1 afterwards. These two games share very similar concepts and design principles to each other. 2's entire foundation is built upon what the developers and creatives believed worked in Xenoblade 1, with the trouble of only having a 40-person development team to make it happen (and still succeeding well enough for 2 to still be the best selling Xenoblade game). The argument that I'm making is that these specific creative similarities are significantly diminished in Xenoblade 3, which is why many people have issues with base game Xenoblade 3 in the first place. And if you so much as point the lack of these similarities out, you get ousted by a lot of Xenoblade 3 fans (which legitimately *did* happen to Roger) for whatever reason. With all of this being said, I still considered Xenoblade 3 as one of my favorite games of all time with rest of the Xenoblade games, even WAY prior to Future Redeemed releasing.

@@EccentricSandal "Relying on the DLC of Xenoblade 3 to "get the full picture" when it was not promised that this" It kinda was when they showed the three swords for the DLC before the game even launched. Many people, including myself, suspected as much. "NOR was it something done at all in Xenoblade 1 or 2 is the entire reason people" Xenoblade Chronicles 1 was a self-contain game that was retcon to fit into a trilogy and a Wii game. They couldn't do DLC even if they wanted to. Torna was literally a chapter in the main game that was removed. and redone for DLC. Future Redeemed was clearly meant to be since the base game, especially if your read the Founders statues. "It's not elitist to make an observation of what is considered, by all fronts, elements that are part of Xenoblade's core identity." It's kinda is since you're trying. to dictate what the core of Xenoblade Chronicles is when it has always been fluid. Which is how X came after Xenoblade Chronicles 1. Or even how Xenoblade Chronicles came from the similar ideas from Gears and Saga. "I am a musician, and I've been a musician for 12 years." Good for you. I came from a family of musicians with my mom having Masters and taught music for over 30 years and she taught me and brother about music. So why are you trying to Appeal to Authority on me? "However, the music tracks of said overworld themes do not match the compositional style of previous entries." For the reasons I named. "Future Redeemed proved that a sizable chunk of the fanbase has never touched Xenogears (or Saga.)" So? "Xenogears is a game that hasn't been ported since the PS3 era." I haven't had the chance to play Xenogears either, but I know its story very well since KZbin is full of Let's Plays on it which only became more popular as Xenoblade Chronicles grew in popularity. Which is how I learned to love Blade more by seeing these different themes and how they come together. I also feel happy that Takahashi feels comfortable and sure enough to do the more vague storytelling from Gears, Sagas, and even X instead of spelling everything out like Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2. I love these games and when I first played Xenoblade Chronicles 1, I enjoyed it simplifying things because I thought Takahashi's storytelling was needlessly confusion. Although, some of that is because I didn't like their work on Chrono Cross. As I got more deeper into Xeno's lore, I learned to love and even prefer the storytelling done in Gears, although he thankfully tone it down for X and 3 since Gears goes a little too hard in leaving things vague. Long story short, places like KZbin gives people easy access to Gears. "Xenoblade 1 or 2 did to tell its own stories, was a very strange choice that rightfully left a lot of people frustrated." I don't think it is since Future Redeemed makes it very clear that is the direction he most likely to go with Xenoblade Chronicles going forward and he was already done something similar with X which is more Saga than Gears. It was just easy to writer-off X as an oddball since Xenoblade Chronicles 2 went back to something like Xenoblade Chronicles 2's style of story with more focus on humor since there is a lot of slapstick in that game that is unusual for Takahashi. In short, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 wasn't just to close the door to the Klaus Saga, but to also tell us what the future is Xenoblade Chronicles is and I think we're going to see more games in the tone and story style of Gears/Saga vs Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2. Even in Future Redeemed that answered a lot of question, it opened just as many new ones. One being how is Malos' Crystal Core still existing when it was destroyed in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Which wasn't the case with Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2 which were pretty open and shut story-wise. "'entire foundation is built upon what the developers and creatives believed worked in Xenoblade 1" Can't say I agree. While Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2 have similar story styles, the presentation is very different. The characters in 2 are more immature and childish, there's more humor, they're two blatant comical relief characters, Malos is a complete ham, there is very little urgency in the story until the last third, and 2 is heavy on the fan-service (you know what kind). I would go as far as to say that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the oddball out of all of Takahashi's work, which includes Gears and Saga. "And if you so much as point the lack of these similarities out, you get ousted by a lot of Xenoblade 3 fans (which legitimately did happen to Roger) for whatever reason." I honestly see more of this from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 fans who tried to make their game of choice better by pointing out the flaws in 2 and saying it's truer to Xenoblade Chronicles 1, yet it really isn't. And this is coming from someone who has played Xenoblade Chronicles 1 at least three times (two on the Wii and once on DE). Granted, some of this is because Xenoblade Chronicles 2 had been shat on by the internet since it first released and not for the reasons I have issue with it. "With all of this being said, I still considered Xenoblade 3 as one of my favorite games of all time with rest of the Xenoblade games, even WAY prior to Future Redeemed releasing." That good to know, wished I felt the same for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It's a good game, but I can named several JRPGs for this generation alone that prefer over it. That said, Torna was great.

@EccentricSandal dang dude, speaking the truest of true facts. literally that is how the discourse has been for me since i beat xenoblade 3. i thought it was fine at first but every day after and week after i realized how much i didn't like about it and how much of a disappointment it was. i never went back for the masha dlc cause i just didn't want to play anymore xeno3. for me, nothing in 3 matches anything of the quality in 1 or 2. story telling is better, villains are better, heck characters are better. i know that's probably a hot take but i find the casts of 1 and 2 just more memorable than anyone from 3. i went into the DLC with way low expectations and in the end, its far better than the base game. if Future Redeemed was Xenoblade 3, that would've been a million times better. granted the very setting for 3 "aionios" or rather "origin" is just bad imo so being stuck within that context would've still sucked big time but i liked everything about the dlc more than the base game. lastly, yea. putting answers to xeno3 questions in the dlc was a bad move. no matter what ppl think, no torna did not do that at all. i hope i never hear ppl defending criticism by just saying BUT THE THEMES ever again. anyway, all that to say, glad to see others had my experience.

Loved hearing your thoughts about the DLC! I'm like you; I was very underwhelmed with the last two chapters of base 3, and it's definitely my least favorite. Future Redeemed, however, rectified a lot of things for me, from explaining more about what happened to the casts from 1 and 2, the founders, N's history, how Origin worked, and more. The music and environments were also way better, and I love the new characters here, too! That lore dump at the end was INSANE; as an X fan, seeing those connections was an otherworldly experience. It's gonna be long, but I compiled my thoughts about the radio scene into a short essay if you wanted to hear some thoughts and theories: So, the radio scene (and the whole area around it) obviously has some BIG implications about possible connections between the mainline numbered Xenoblade games and X, Saga, and even Gears a bit. I guess I can start with the smaller mentions and ones that I think may be a bit more recontextual or loose. For Gears, there's really not much other than the Philadelphia-class mothership that was mentioned, which is what the Eldridge was (the ship that basically started it all in Gears). It may imply that Takahashi is recontextualizing the origin of the Eldridge as being from Earth, but there's not enough to go on to say that for sure at all. However, the radio also mentions the Milky Way, perhaps a cheeky reference to the Milky Way Federation that had the Eldridge commissioned, but again, that's loose at best. Next, we have Xenosaga. This is definitely a bit more involved and heavily referenced, from the Vector Industries logo on the radio to the namedrop of Dimitri Yuriev, however there's no mention of the Galaxy Federation or Yuriev Institute that he's a part of. Despite all this though, there's not much to tie Saga into Xenoblade OTHER than this from what I understand, as the Minos Authority that Dimitri's a part of here is a new organization not present in any game before this. The Japanese version calls the Saviorites the Salvators, which ARE present in Xenosaga, but this is changed in the localization to seemingly connect them to the ones from 2 instead and doesn't seem to relate to Dimitri at all in the radio broadcast. The Saviorites are not even so much an "organization" at this point in time as it is a bill that various human rights groups rally under, it seems, which is also different from Saga. I'll touch on this more in my section about X. Either way, there is one more thing I think might relate to Saga: the ending scene, with the new planet formed from Bionis and Alrest fusing and the light shining down toward it. I agree with some others and think this is in some way tying in that ending scene in Saga III with KOS-MOS floating down to the new planet. HOWEVER, here's where I might differ a bit: with all of the discrepancies in how they're using the Saga names and how Bandai is still the copyright holder of the Saga games, I think Takahashi might be recontextualizing Saga, changing it partially to fit in with the main games through more vague references like this. Bandai IS thanked in the credits, but also might not want to tie Saga into the series of a rival company directly, so perhaps they let Takahashi use a few terms and references from the series as long as he creates a new story scenario around them so as to not compete with the original Saga games (especially if they do eventually make those remasters). It's also totally possible that the rules they have of using their characters and terms changed between this game and 2; while giving credit wasn't necessary in 2, it might be now. This is of course a lot of speculation, but I feel makes the most sense due to the complex copyright stuff that Saga's dealing with. I'm not really convinced that Saga is gonna be the huge connection that people think it's gonna be, as a lot of terms and people here are in completely different contexts from their source game. I can definitely see Bandai letting some references slide though to make some loose connections in a different context to the originals, though. Finally, we have Xenoblade X, the one I'm most excited about. I'm the resident Xenoblade X enjoyer on here, so this might be insane copium, but I think a lot of the X references here make more sense than many realize. Like the references from Gears and Saga, some retconning would be needed, but this series is no stranger to that (looking at you, Ontos! You and your damn necklace!). So, the main references to X are Project Exodus, the ECP, and the Coalition Government all being namedroped. This HEAVILY implies that the things, events, and people of X come from Klaus' world and time period (pre-experiment activation and at the exact moment of it). The Coalition Government seems to be the unified world government of Earth, or at least something akin to the United Nations. This is in line with Elma's dialogue in X. Project Exodus was in charge of launching ships into orbit to search for other worlds. The ECP was an extension of this, ensuring humanity's survival and colonization of the worlds they find. In Xenoblade X, we know that Elma was a part of these organizations to help humanity escape Earth because she knew of the impending arrival of the Samaar Federation and the Ghosts. However, it's entirely possible (and potentially confirmed by the broadcast) that these projects and organizations had their roots in simple space travel, not just to escape the impending alien war. They were then modified to use the technology they developed as an emergency exit plan for the people of Earth. At this time, we know that different parts of the world used one of two methods to do this: digitizing consciousnesses like in the White Whale, or keeping actual bodies in stasis. The ECP board weighed these options, and Elma even mentions that some people like Doug and those who went with actual bodies were concerned with human rights and what even constitutes as "humanity" anymore. We ALSO know from people like Lao that it was mostly only the rich and/or connected that even got chosen to board the ships to begin with, another concerning human rights issue. Could these reasons be what spurred the people who rallied under the Saviorite bill into action? After seeing these well-off and connected people leave when the Samaar Federation and Ghosts arrived, it is very likely that the rallied Saviorites tried to use the chaos to capture the Beanstalk and use the Conduit themselves. One thing also bugs me in retrospect about X's intro and the alien war. WHY did they even end up on Earth's doorstep to begin with? If it was random, how did Elma even know it was coming so she could give humanity the Trion barrier and the Skells? My theory is that both alien factions were after the Conduit. They both sensed the wavelengths or whatever, both arrived at Earth, and then proceeded to fight in order to claim the Conduit for themselves. Then, when Klaus saw these alien factions along with the Saviorites from Earth all fighting over the Conduit, he proceeded to activate the experiment that led to the creation of Bionis and Alrest. As for the aliens and people in X, let's think again about what Klaus said in XC2. Klaus said that when he activated the Conduit, many people and things disappeared into distant dimensions. Obviously this refers to XC 1 and 2, but what if this also applies to X? Klaus activates the Conduit, and the aliens, along with the White Whale, disappear into another dimension: the one where Mira is waiting. The Ganglion even say in game that they arrived and are now trapped on Mira due to a strange light. The light from the experiment, perhaps? This would mean Xenoblade X STARTED in Klaus' time and universe, but then ended up in another universe entirely thanks to the Conduit. The only thing that really contradicts this that there's no orbital ring around Earth in the intro, and Earth disappears in a more literal explosion rather than the burst of light from the scene in 1 and 2. But again, this can easily be retconned by slapping an orbital ring on Earth and making the "explosion" more akin to said burst of light from that cutscene. They've retconned what Rhadamanthus looked like before, after all. With these three small changes (the Saviorites, the orbital ring, and the burst of light), it all adds up. I just feel like they ARE setting it up for something, especially X. They've also done the whole "flawed perspective" thing in the series before; XC2 recontextualized Zanza's and Alvis' entire characters, FR did the same for N, Torna with... well, Torna's collapse. Lin narrates the opening of X, and there can easily be things she doesn't know; she's an unreliable narrator. No connections are concrete of course. But I feel like it's kinda weird to completely hand-waive X when it's arguably easier to connect because they actually own the IP, when we can't say the same for Saga. Even the Saga references are in very different contexts compared to the games they came from. Still, glad to see your enjoyment for a potential X tie-in just like I am! There's so many unused concepts from X that they can make X2 and still have stuff to spare; the story never truly ends!!

Xenosaga spoilers regarding the possible direct connection to Xenoblade: While obviously unconfirmed, a going theory is that KOS MOS is the light at the end scene, in the Xenosaga games, the location of Earth was lost but at the end of Saga 3 - KOS MOS is drifting through space looking for it, with the ending scene showing her falling unconcious towards it, as it reapeared in a process best described as "somehow." So the working idea is that The Klaus experiement set the worlds of Xenoblade 1 and 2 into pocket diminsions, which is why it is "lost" in the saga games. Then XB3 and FR happens which seems to confirm that the worlds succesfully reunited in a not apocalyptic way (a world scale ouroboros effect, possibly derived from the connection and emotions of Noah and Mio, that's my headcanon anyway). Thus a united Earth reappears outside the seperate pocket dimensions just in time to catch a falling KOS MOS. So essentially, Xenoblade 4 could very well also be Xenosaga 4, if not in name then in spirit - Namco has very much been playing ball with Nintendo in letting them use Xenosaga assets after all.
@yum2735 Жыл бұрын
I'm really curious what's going on with the IPs behind the scenes. You can't just canonize one IP owned by one party in another IP owned by another party because at that point they basically become indistinguishable. Xenoblade is a fairly popular IP owned by Nintendo, so it's absolutely insane from Nintendo's perspective to fuse it with the dead Xenosaga IP owned by Bandai Namco into some kind of shared Xeno IP. But I feel like something along the lines of this is exactly what's happening. Either that or they already have a deal in place to acquire the Xenosaga IP.

The only flaw in this theory is that we DO see bionis and Alrest forming to COMPLETE PHYSICAL PLANETS right before colliding and creating Lost Jeruselam. Since they have arisen from waves and frequencies we can say "Aionios" was absolutely in a pocket dimension HOWEVER xc1 and Xc2 worlds cant be (as they were physical and viewable - not planck scale as pocket dimension needs to be) which is just another way of saying "XC1 and XC2 worlda were WITHIN the Xenosaga universe physically colliding and being attracted to each other due to antimatter. But Aionios WAS the pocket dimension created by Z to circumvent the collision in the planck scale (which is Lost Jeruselam). Thats why those waves at the end of FR recreatedl into 2 physical planets (saved in the Origin"s snapshot right before the creation of Aionios). This is a very important point people miss. XC1 and 2 worlds were in different ends of the universe but not in the form of a dimension shift in Xenosaga universe. Everything u experienced in Xenosaga trilogy has occured at the very tail end of Aionios (which has constituted to exist thousands of years) Time was also warped in its own dimension so it can technically be even more years in Xenosaga universe and we wouldnt know lol
@Arda-dq4rt Жыл бұрын
This also explains how Z "frozen" time so to speak. By creating a dimensional shift into a planck scale black hole'e surface of event horizon, the dimension of time no longer exists. z used the explosion of anti matter xc1 and xc2 the moment they collided, released very high levels of energy that it curved space time and as a result has the opportunity to create Aionios in a dimensional shift using Origin's data in a black hole
@Arda-dq4rt Жыл бұрын
Which is also how annihilatiom events occur like a bug due to warped time dimension in event horizon of a black hole. Normally Aionios cant be morphed like that due to antimatter collision. Suchba thing is only possible in a "patchwork reality" on an event horizon. Which is exactly what Z did to escape the full collision of the planets. Thankfully the world's data was backed up in origin that it recngealed back into bionis and alrest, properly collided and created Lost jeruselam

Although I will say i think that's a bit intentional. They wanted 3 to stand on its own two feet to improve Future Redeemed which is the True Conclusion™️. Btw if you didnt figure out the bit of symbolism...Ns sword is Malos core, and The Fist of End is Pnuema/Pyra/Mythra these 2 joining power essentially let them 'outvote' the 3rd processor, Alpha.

I personally adore all of XB3, and I was sad that you didn’t feel the same way, but I’m glad to see you loved this as much as I did. I feel bad about commenting anything about how you reacted to XB3, and good on you for not letting us affect your enjoyment of Future Redeemed. Keep it up with the great content!😄 Also, Future Awaits is already one of my favorite XB songs.

I agree Roger, as someone who also started from the very beginning of Xenoblade 1 on the Wii, the ending of base game 3 was very underwhelming and I was disappointed. While Future Redeemed did not answer every question, and in some cases even gave us more questions, it was incredible, and it fulfilled the feeling I definitely needed from base game 3 and REDEEMED Xeno 3 :) so excited to see where the series goes from here

Really glad this game improved your overall feelings on 3! I personally loved base game 3, but I definitely agree this DLC raised the quality of 3 even further. If there's anything I feel base 3 lacked it was a proper sense of finality. The base game is much more interested in telling its own story, which was fine since I loved the story, themes, and especially the characters. This DLC tho is sooooo good. Characters are great, plenty of fanservice, interesting story. Even the gameplay and exploration feel more refined. And when the dlc finally connects the Xenoblade story to Xenosaga, that gave me a feeling I haven't felt since I played Xenoblade 2. This dlc is truly PEAK xenoblade. Can't wait to see what comes next.

Spoilers! .... Honestly I used to feel empty when I was playing XC3 base game because I got totally no idea what had happend to the previous protagonists, I walked in a similar world they used to be but I find no trace of them except the statues in the city. But now I go back to the base game after I played Future Redeemed, I finally realized they were with us the whole time. It's hard to describe this feeling, but I think I like it.

Honestly, the people saying it 100% is KOS-MOS in the ending are super annoying. We don't know for sure what it is. People are also putting a little too much stock into Luxin's video as well. The entirety of the Blade trilogy taking place in pocket universes with dilated time relative to the main universe, which also somehow allows an extra Zohar to exist is not the "minor" retcon he brushes it aside as. I have played Saga, the timeline is just as incompatible with the Blade timeline as X is. Personally I feel like they're going to incorporate elements from both going forward, but both will remain strictly non-canon to the Blade continuity. I want more Saga as much as everybody else, but shoehorning it into the Blade timeline as it stands is not the way to do it. A retelling that doesn't massively contradict Blade is a far preferable alternative, plus it basically forces them to do remakes instead of retconning in a hasty lore dump in whatever the next new game will be.
@corywashington9580 Жыл бұрын
Exactly! I think whatever is explicitly said in xenoblade is cannon. Likely any callbacks to the larger xenoverse will have to be incorporated and told in a different way in this new universe. The "xenosaga is cannon" take I think is way overstated
@INSEIKYU01 Жыл бұрын
Personally I hope it's the Xohar and is the beginning of Xenogears but who knows.
@sentoworf Жыл бұрын
For real, people are somehow fine with one story needing a bunch of retcons while denying another one cause it would need a bunch of retcons just doesn't make sense to me at all. Just seems like wishful thinking for Xenosaga to make a comeback somehow over Xenoblade X.
@Justic_ Жыл бұрын
Loved the reaction, to all the bits of Xeno-lore being pulled together and all that. But I have to say, and I know this is pretty much probably just rolling out the discussion from the end of the base game, I'll be the first to say that the ending to 3 wasn't really a satisfying end to the culmination of 1 and 2... at least superficially, but to say that there was little to no writing to 3s final boss is just factually wrong. Was it not what people expected? Yeah. Was that "I hate it I hate it I hate it" ridiculous sounding? Yeah, it took away from the epicness and grandeur of the final boss by revealing him to be childish... a base instinct of humanity. But that doesn't mean there's no writing behind that. In the end, the way the base-game chose to end the Klaus-saga was not by leaning completely into the fanservice of 1 and 2, but to allow the games story and characters to stand by themselves with it mostly carrying the messages of its predecessors on and tying back to them in terms of lore. Could they have had Alvis/Ontos be the final boss of the base game? Sure, but his motivation would've had to be the same as Zs and ultimately that wouldn't have fit Alvis. Could they have somehow crammed out Zanza again to act as the final boss? Perhaps, but it would've just been for empty fanservice. So personally, I'm glad that they crammed most of the actual fanservice for 1 and 2 into the DLC, even if we falsely expected more of it for the base game. Because with the DLC, now the game actually feels like a proper conclusion to the Xenoblade-franchise up until now, not just for its characters, but also thematically. Edit: As for "there's no DLC-expansion that has done more for the base game"... ahem... Pokemon Sword and Shields DLC would be one that comes to mind. Did so much for that game, it's not even funny, and I didn't even dislike the base game that much. I'm pretty sure there's more out there as well that I just don't know or remember.

I think your criticism of base 3 is mighty misplaced though. Ultimately, base 3 wanted to not tell the conclusion of the "Klaus saga" - it wanted to move forward, work with different themes, different ideas, it wanted to turn the lens on _a world AFTER the "Klaus saga"._ It wanted to move forward and tell something new. And now we know why it felt confident doing that: Because the actual ending to the "Klaus saga" was in the works in the form of Future Redeemed. And they did it in that order because _having played base 3 first_ makes playing Future Redeemed more complete.

I love this DLC and your reaction. I completely agree when you said the base game deserved more and that the DLC made it better. It just did not redeemed Moebius for me. I wanted a second DLC focused on Z, X and Y and their relationship as the first Moebius. Like, I see Z not only as people's fears, but also as a conscience that turned himself against his "creators" because he hates what he himself is. That's why he hates the world and is amused by people's suffering. They made him that way, "now they will play by my rules". Z is the coin and X and Y are his two sides, Fear and Desire. Z controls Origin, the very world. X spreads Z's fear of the future and tries to discourage the group of their hopes. She talks like she's scared most of the time. Scared of their will to fight for the future. Moebius existence depends on it. Y on the other hand works on Flame Clocks. He wants to improve Z's power and control. He is a branch of Z's desire to completely control the world. After all, once Z has power, he fears to lose it and needs to ensure that nothing will oppose him. Seeing something like this, more development to Moebius, would have made me enjoy the base game much more.

People comparing Matthew to Fei (Xenogears protagonist) are exaggerating. Their character designs look similar, but their personalities are very different. They start out similar but once the story gets going Fei is much closer to Noah in personality, though more expressive kinda making him a sort of middle ground between Noah and Matthew. Xenogears hasn’t aged all that well (I say that as someone who considered it their favorite game ever until Xenoblade 3 came along), and it was also released an incomplete game to boot, but if you can handle old PS1 rpg jank give it a shot.
@pokegamer1216 Жыл бұрын
There is no connection to X, they only add references to it. Earth in X was destroyed to nothing and in Klaus's world it wasn't, ruined yes but the planet still exists when it doesn't in X. So both worlds are not the same. The only thing that may be happening is they may be retconning Xenosaga to make it canon but X is not canon. Someone already went in depth with X not being canon about how even the timelines don't align based on the date mentioned in the radio and the year X starts off in. Also with the colony ships not having the same number of people. So there is no X connection, unless they completely rewrite it which they wont. It's easier for them to retcon Saga than it is X

It seems, that you have to start playing Xenogears and Xenosaga.
@hbrant11 ай бұрын
Very late comment but I have to step in for a moment. Xenosaga is definitely the beginning of Xeno timeline because Earth was destroyed. Remaining humanity moved to space colonies. Then I think Xenogears came next and was the peak showdown of mechs. Then Xenoblade with monados, even Xenoblade X had mechs it was uncannon to the timeline. Matthew said "let's build our own world" so I guess next setting will be something different. I have seen theories from fans about they are going to retell the Xenosaga story. I don't think that is going to happen. We will get something new instead. Going back to the past is going back to how everything was destroyed. That is not what Takahashi wants or Nintendo wants. Let's follow the timeline of Xeno universe instead. Me personally didn't like Xenosaga's gameplay and level design that much. Dungeons were mundane especially in Episode II. What was good about Xenosaga was the story and the characters. It was unfortunately unbalanced with flawed gameplay and repetitive level design. I think that was a big reason the series failed to appeal to an audience back then and why Bandai Namco execs hesitate with a remaster collection according to their market analysis.
