Really excited for this game! I like the direction they're taking the story so far. As someone who wasn't really a fan of the second game, I'm glad they're trying to find a middle ground between the two. Lots of interesting lore stuff for sure, also it's insane that Monolith are making this game while presumably helping with Botw 2 at the same time. Those people are absolute legends

The one thing I wanted to go over in this analysis but just straight up forgot was the game's Australian age rating. The game scored slightly higher than the past three games in the series on sexual themes. Taking recent games in the Fire Emblem series as an example, I think this is most likely due to the game exploring characters' births more since many of our new party members seem to be children of past characters. I get the feeling that this game will try to incorporate a bunch of ideas from Xenosaga now that they've figured out an effective way to make a fun game to accompany their complicated stories, and that the Flame Clocks etc. have to do with the Xenoblade equivalent of that series' Imaginary Domain collapse. The mention of Ouroboros is probably not a coincidence, as the Ouroboros was the symbol of the UMN which was powered by the collective consciousness of humanity, both living and also those who had died.

As soon as i heard oroboros i was like "are we going back to the xenosaga days?", i want to see absolutely crazy characters like albedo. although ,i don't think monolith ever could under nintendo. The implications of oroboros being a thing could have some connection to xenosaga? I mean, the fog king was a clear reference to gnosis as well as also being a clue as to what happened in the time right after the split happened with klaus and everything got buried under the cloud sea. Monolith have been following fairly closely when it comes to "perfect works" so what im wondering is, is xenoblade 3 going to be chapter 5 or chapter 6? I have soooo many questions....

Thank you for the video, and it makes me so happy to see you cover Xenoblade! I just wanna share some of my thoughts: 17:39 I'm pretty sure that metal walkway is the Distant Fingertip from XC1 and not Mor Ardain. 21:18 the Japanese says 鉄巨神 tetsu-kyoshin, with "kyoshin" being the Japanese for Bionis (literally "giant god"). So technically it could be translated as "Iron Bionis," but I guess it's just a callback to Xenoblades' origin in the Bionis-Mechonis world, and "Iron Giants" would be a more fitting translation. Pretty funny that Bionis and Mechonis are synthesized by this one word. 21:48 I think it's more likely to be Varnax's Plunge in Gormott than Makna Falls, since the waterfall and the lake aren't nearly as big as that in Makna. It could also just be a new place. If I understand the lore correctly, XC1's world is a virtual one created by Alvis (Ontos) and XC2's world covers the remains of the actual Earth. So it wouldn't surprise me if new places emerged after the disappearance of the Cloud Sea. Alvis also stated at the end that this new world is "boundless," even though we only see a boundless sea at the end of both games. So I'm holding on to the hope that there are new locations beyond those we already know. 28:15 Eunie's wings turned so dark that I don't think it's the lighting. In fact, Eunie's design in general is very interesting. I believe she is the first ever High Entia that we see has a non-silver hair color. This could imply that the High Entia genes have run so thin that their physical traits have undergone significant changes. Teelan in XC1 is 42 and still looks like a child, but Eunie is 18 and looks just like Melia when she was 88. So the change in the color of her wings could mean something more significant, like how the High Entia transform into Telethia under high concentration of Ether. Maybe having wings at all is seen as something significant. Although I don't believe she's Melia's daughter, it's interesting to see what the relationship is like between the two. And I also hope nothing bad happens to Eunie. Surely nothing bad happens in Xenoblade. 31:11 that edit cracked me up so hard. It has also been pointed out that the Fog Beasts and the Fog King have similarities with Gnosis, the main antagonist from Xenosaga. It seems we are fighting something like an unconscious of the world that is established with the collapse of the previous organizing principles/mechanisms, which could really fit the idea of Ouroboros. I also hope they expand on the Ether as the main form of energy in the Xeno universe, as those particles would entail. Looks like Takahashi is going full Xeno with this game and I can't wait for the story. The Xeno universe is one of my favorite fantasy worlds and it's so great to see an expansion on it. Also, what if the real Vandham is the Dickson we met along the way?

SPOILERS, because some people here haven't played xenoblade 1 One thing everyone seems to forget is that the mechonis sword was cut in half in xenoblade 1. But in this trailer, the sword doesn't look broken. Even if it is a little broken in some ways, the part of the sword that we do see is longer than it was at the end of xenoblade 1. I don't know if this has any significance at all, just something that stood out to me.

I noticed that as well. I assumed that since the trailer only shows the side with the hilt, the cut would be clearly visible if we were to see the base of the sword. And the size is just an open continuity air for the sake of this game. It is peculiar, though.

My current situation: I have Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition and I only played 1 hour of it. I think I’m enjoying it and now one of my favorite KZbinrs uploads a 47 minute long analysis video. I loved all the analysis videos from BotW 2 and I loved all the ideas you had for it. Should I really finish this game that will definitely take me a long time before watching this video? Isn’t a full playthrough about 60 hours long?

In my opinion, keep playing! This video will be here waiting for you when you’re done. This series is one I highly recommend experiencing fresh and spoiler-free. It is a timesink, as you said, taking around 60 or more hours to complete but is well worth it!

also if u don’t wanna spend another 60 hours with Xenoblade 2 I recommend watching the cutscenes, but playing the game will be more immersive

I’m excited for this game especially because of the many questions raised from the story, so I’m ready to see how everything came to be. One big thing I’m worried about though is that this game will be similar to XC2 in gameplay. It’s a good game, but 2 has got to be the weakest of the three Xenos we have so far IMO. Coming from XCX, I had high expectations for the open world, exploration, gameplay depth, and overall freedom and all that was just completely downgraded in XC2. So I really hope Monolith took their time to polish this game and make it as deep as XCX was in terms of gameplay and exploration.

I've tried to play through both games before a few times but I always get bored halfway through as they're too long for my taste. Hopefully 3 will hold my attention until it's conclusion.
