XBC fans say that a lot, and I tried the game as well, and I could not get into it. The gameplay simply isn't to my liking, and the game make a major design flaw that JRPG's often make, mandatory grind to progress the story. Having grind in a game is fine, but it should always be optional for the side content.
@turtersvongenbu
@turtersvongenbu 8 ай бұрын
@@arjanzweers6542 You really don't need to grind in Xenoblade. The game throws EXP at you. If you are losing a required fight, the problem is almost definitely not being too low level. It will likely be either a problem with your setup (equipment, arts, gems, active party) or your execution (arts combos, aggro management, chain attack structure).
@Varindran
@Varindran 8 ай бұрын
There is no grinding once you get Chain Attacks. beating/overkilling a enemy with a Chain Attack gives a tong of EXP.@@arjanzweers6542
@jacobmonks3722
@jacobmonks3722 7 ай бұрын
You don't really need to grind. Just pick up all the sidequests you can, and you will do a good chunk of them without even trying because they're just "get x number of y item" or "beat a enemy b times." You'll be doing that anyway, so it's just free experience. Hope this helps if you decide to pick the game back up.@arjanzweers6542

@@turtersvongenbu not gonna disagree that this person probably had a sub-optimal setup, but levels are far more important (especially early on like most other jrpgs) in xenoblade. i seriously dislike how the "danger levels" associated with the color on the enemy names work mechanically. i've done a low level run by using dolphin gecko codes to adjust exp values so i could do the quests and not become overpowered instantly, and when everything is balanced it feels so good. however, more casual players who are just walking past most enemies, upgrading less useful arts, not min-maxing gems, not optimal equipment will struggle far more with higher level enemies ESPECIALLY early on. it makes sense why they'd view it as a beginner grind-trap so to speak. i mean, it's still essentially their own fault for avoiding the game part of the video game. in epic battle fantasy 3-5 the developer balanced the games around the idea that the player is fighting everything on each screen at least once, not just the mandatory ones. but even then, the harder fights will scale to your level. you just miss out on weapon and skill upgrades. it's funny if someone complains about grind in those games because then you know they were just avoiding the gameplay that makes up the... game. it's a bit harder to blame in this situation though, because the game doesn't really tell you what to fight and it's way more story oriented. quests are so "sidey" that maybe you don't want to kill all the random wild animals and just want to see more story. it's not like shulk and friends are bringing up how they almost got gored by a giant ardun in gaur plains while doing some random side quest during the main cutscenes. lol sorry for a giant wall of text. xenoblade 1 is one of my favorite games, and the only xenoblade game i actually like playing. mostly just wanted to bring up the case for people who are more interested in the story and characters than the gameplay. i don't believe you can get the same feelings from a "game movie all cutscenes" youtube video than what you'll feel actually playing the game, and what i described above may make it harder for people to want to push on playing it.

Definitive edition is the exact same game with updated graphics and an extra epilogue section at the end of the game so you're good to play that one And in terms of no one sending the og ost I'm not sure as to why I usually prefer the og version with some exceptions like Mechanical Rhythm but I think it's less that people prefer the Definitive edition to a fault and more just sending the newer version of the music since that's the one most people would think of. Like how I'm pretty sure the first One Winged Angel request on the channel wasn't og it was Advent or Rebirth if I remember correctly.

The composer for this track, Manami Kiyota, handled about half of the game's soundtrack. Most of her compositions were cutscene and area music. Her contributions were greatly reduced in later entries, but she then went on to compose the final boss theme for Future Redeemed (the third game's DLC) essentually bringing the whole thing full circle.

I’m definitely looking forward to your Xenoblade playthrough, it’s a fantastic series. Without going into spoilers, this track and the area it played in were such a surprising shift from the rest of the game, which also reflects in the composer Manami Kiyota’s work. I don't find that the fanbase is all that split on the XC1 OST versions. I think for most people, the improved audio quality simply elevates what was already a stellar soundtrack, with maybe a small handful of exceptions (just 3 tracks, for my part). And by no means is the original worse for it! The soundtrack is a big part of what made Xenoblade memorable for people back then, after all and has always been consistently praised. It's just so well done. I'll say, though, it's been a while since I heard this track's original version. It sounds quite a bit more different than I remember. The DE version has really taken over in my mind on this one, evidently.

@@marche800 Eh, depends. I still like the old Zanza theme better. The new one's guitars feel a bit too declawed and the dope echo-sound parts that gave the original a lot of unique flair and spaciness got completely removed. 9:52 That sound you mentioned actually shows up in another Xenoblade song, one I believe you've heard as well! Incoming, the major boss battle theme from Xenoblade 2. You can hear it about 2 minutes and 8 seconds into that song, and it's one of my absolute favorite additions to that song as a callback to the first game's final boss to add another layer of intensity to an already intense boss theme. I'm still heartbroken that Definitive Edition's version of Zanza the Divine doesn't include the sound, since it retroactively takes away a musical callback.

Okay, in case no-one else has explained it yet, a quick overview of the Xenoblade games: The first game, Xenoblade Chronicles, was released for the Wii. It was followed by Xenoblade Chronicles X (the only game I haven't played) on the WiiU, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the Switch. Then, we got a remake of the first game for the Switch, with improved graphics, music tracks and menu, they also added an epilogue called "Future Connected", which had not been part of the original game. This was then followed by Xenoblade Chronicles 3. The first game blew me away, replacing Baten Kaitos as my new favourite game of all times. The Wii had crappy graphics, and they focused on other things than nice character models, but the environments looked stunning. When I saw them again in the DE, my jaw dropped several times at the sheer beauty of everything.

The reason you've never really heard that kind of Xenoblade tracks is that like in most Xeno games they are used for moments/battles/areas that are either meant to be religious, mystical or spiritual in some way. From what I can remember you only got fighting themes or the endings as requests for Xenoblade so far. But you have definitely heard this kind of tracks from Xenogears or Xenosaga before. They basically operate in the same way for the use of these kinds of tracks. What languages the vocals are in depends on the track. In every Xeno game when you have a vocal track it can be japanese, it can be english, it can be latin, or it can be gibberish arranged to sound like a real language. This one is gibberish as far as I'm aware.

You can hear each individual part much better where the DE soundtrack tends to muddle the muxing and makes huge changes to what voice is emphasized in some songs. At the very least, the DE completely butchered You Will Know Our Names for sure.
