I played this version of Faraway Promise at the GA Tech piano sale earlier this week on several pianos to get a feel for the different sounds they all have, because I think this song really allows an instrument to give you a feel for its capacity to carry emotion, and several people asked me what I was playing because it was beautiful and they wanted to know the name so they could find it. I love this song, and I hope people continue to love and learn this song for many years to come. Xenogears FTW :)

@Piface2099 Yeah, this has a more warm, mellow sound. A grand-style piano would do this very nicely. Of course, the strings would have a major affect in any piano. Most keyboards that I have seen can't pull off a good grand piano sound unless its specifically made to be an electric piano.

Jesus Christ, I'm a piano beginner at this point, really freaking good at playing some of the things I've hammered out on my own just messing around. I discovered kind of the 20 second mark on my own and could play a little bit of it, but nevermind, way more complicated than I thought. Just kind of stuck with two keys at a time on the left hand, so many songs I like demand 3 key strokes, and I just can't wrap my brain around some of it naturally. I keep hoping if I just keep trying it will come more naturally.

Im a beginner to the keys but have played guitar for a very long time. Is the left hand (blue) even possible to play at some points? seems like quite a stretch. or a lot of hand movement.
@squeakysneakers66858 жыл бұрын
No, this is actually a pretty straightforward piece with the left or bass hand. In piano it's different and easier actually to cover more distance playing arpeggios, because you can walk or cross finger over finger playing up and down so that you dont dead-end yourself. You can play continuously this way. It takes getting used to. Default by playing as many notes as you can with your five finger 1st, then on the 6th or more notes, you can either jump your fingers(pinky past thumb for left hand going up or vice versa) but for crossovers you dont really ever want to cross your thumbs and pinkies. Hope that helps and wasnt too confusing. Just watch people play and see what they do.
@JohnnyDarko018 жыл бұрын
I think I get what you mean I'll have to check out some examples or people teaching this technique out online. you say its mainly used for arpeggios? or like walking down scales? Luckily this terminology is already familiar from years of guitar. Music is mostly all the same, each instrument just seems to have its own mechanics and this is one I'll have to learn if I want to get good on piano.

When, what, withwhom and where did you promise..? Maybe we won't know.When you answer you know it, I suppose your mind must be controled by this game, at least what l want to say is that people have faces are same, are anywhere. You loved more when it has passed eight thousand years since it was ten thousand years ago than when it has passed one thousand years, do you say? Run to the end of the world.withwhom? Be hesitate. Ahahahaha....
