Hey Ben - developer of the game here. Thanks for covering us, really enjoyed your X-Com Files series! PLEASE consider doing the tutorial off-camera, it’s only five minutes long and explains the new controls for force-fire and the move+shoot shot preview that can be super handy! I’ll have a look at the balance on that Abduction mission where you lost most of your team. I think you were pretty unlucky though - that’s a lot of enemies to spawn around the dropship and Psyons can be brutal if you don’t know how Mesmerise works (which you won’t until you kill them and get the autopsy report). Basically it won’t trigger if you hit them with the shot (or any shots in the burst), or they’re not facing towards you, or they’re suppressed. Anyway, thanks for playing and hope you enjoy the rest of the playthrough!

Woah this is unreasonably difficult and I don't know the buttons. Why is this happening to me, bug? That must have been a fluke so we will ignore it.

i don't remember if it was like this in xenonauts 1 but i love that you can see the stats of each potential hire. i mean it makes so much sense, you would likely get them to go through a boot camp or some sort of a test before hiring them for one of the most prestigious organizations on earth. heck, they probably are already professional soldiers who probably have seen live combat some time in their life, they probably have actual stats

Compare that to X-Com 2, where I would really like to vet recruits for combat intelligence instead of hiring all of them and firing the dummies, you know, like a job interview. It's an elite force, you think we might show some discernment in the application process.

However, the town of Baikonur was actually a good deal of distance away from the cosmodrome's location. That was to conceal the precise position of the classified installation.

Something of note when playing the demo, the little sectiods get MASSIVE aim boosts when even just one other sectiod is nearby. Had a shitty situation where I was using smokes to choke them out and then get close to tase them. Ended up losing half the squad because nobody could shoot through the smoke but the aliens and they were landing quite often. Keep in mind every tile of smoke drastically reduces accuracy. Unless this was a bug, just note they're incredibly deadly given you don't just shoot them.

I too think it's kind of weird that you can suppress your own guys. There's a certain logic but I feel like it should only apply if your shots are actually impacting right next to them. One would presume that a trained soldier would be able to keep their cool when friendlies have to fire over them.

You got REALLY lucky in that first mission RNG, Just watched a first look video of the game (That then led me 2 this) Guy lost 4 people out the door of the chopper. Then another 2 throughout the mission, enemy shots kept getting kills his shots kept missing.
