Great could I do similar to bottom of boat to give more protection when dragging on shore
@ErickMartinSucre2 жыл бұрын
That's the plan. Some models comes with some protection but some don't or don't have enough at certain spots. My ZK380 needed some in the front of the keel guard.

Wjat type of material is the boat made of?
@ErickMartinSucre5 ай бұрын
PVC rubber
@TyLes55 ай бұрын
Thanks...does the patch affect how the boat expands once inflated in that area?
@ErickMartinSucre5 ай бұрын
@TyLes5 It becomes part of the boat, so it stretches with it

I've used flex seal tape in an emergency. Lightly sand and clean first and it stays on surprisingly well.

@@ErickMartinSucre I keep some on boat just in case. I have launch wheels so luckily I don't have to drag across anything.
@ErickMartinSucre4 жыл бұрын
@@frankmills5284 Me too but the part there I was at had really slimmy wet sand an it was better to drag it. What I did not realize was that there must've been some sharp objects that scratched and punctured the boat. Not a deal breaker but it sucked. Thankfully it's all fixed now and I even reinforced those areas just in case. The Satrun SD models usually come with the extra protection but tnis is a BB290 that was marketted as a budget boat so it has a few drawbacks.

Better is Tear-aid tape.

How would a bike inmer tube repair kit work for a inflatable boat used in the ocean? Or is that a bad idea

If excess glue spills out how do you clean it up? I've heard some people use a Dremel tool and lightly sand it. Some people say to use a strong solvent like toluene? What is your opinion Mr. Erick, since you are my go to boat mentor lol
@ErickMartinSucre2 жыл бұрын
Kerosene works well. If you use isopropyl alcohol before the glue cures, it will get it out as well.
@SouthernSierra56 Жыл бұрын
No to the dremel. It causes wear
@chrisking84063 жыл бұрын
Hey Erick great job with channel I got a quick question are you using this vinyl cement on a pvc boat.

Yes, the HH-66 one. I use it when the boat needs patching up.

Did you lose air pressure when you were out on the water?
@ErickMartinSucre4 жыл бұрын
Nah, it got punctured when I was coming out of the water. I dragged it a bit through some wet patch of sand before I placed the wheels on and that's when I noticed the puncture. I placed those patches down for some extra peace of mind.

That glue seems to make pvc shrink.
@ErickMartinSucre Жыл бұрын
Is this something you've experienced?
@Monte91 Жыл бұрын
@@ErickMartinSucre Yes, multiple times now. I have a Seahawk 4 and glued 2 registration number strips of the exact same material (30 gauge PVC from another SH4), outlined with sharpie and and the shrinkage was very obvious. It also pulls paint/color off.
@ErickMartinSucre Жыл бұрын

The glue can be heat activated, which means you can take off the old patches with a heat gun. Just don't heat it when inflated.
@ErickMartinSucre4 жыл бұрын
Phenomenal tip indeed thank you!!
@SouthernSierra56 Жыл бұрын
I clean before sanding , but not after. Better bond. A 1" brush is better, more consistent brush strokes. Better to use a flat tool and push air out with long strkes as opposed to little stabs, then use a roller.
