I agree with you regarding DUA making "inspired expressions" of hard to find or outrageously priced fragrances. I also like it when they take a niche fragrance that isn't hard to find but pump up the performance. Creed Silver Mountain Water springs to mind here. I love the Creed original but I can't justify the price for performance that can only be described as diabolical. Hence I bought the DUA version and I love it. Otherwise if I like the original, it's accessible and performs to an acceptable standard I tend to buy the original
@MrSmelly19776 жыл бұрын
Thanks Daniel. Great comment I also like the amped up versions of Silver Mountain Water and Millesime Imperial.
@Electronic4246 жыл бұрын
I don't get the 'diabolical' performance people talk about, and the price really isn't all that cheap for a clone. However I do love some of their inspired expressions and hate some others, it's a mixed bag.
@danielohio94626 жыл бұрын
No the price isn't that cheap but I think it's good value for money because of the far superior performance I get on my skin. The only Duas I buy are those that perform better than the originals or if the original is too hard to find at an acceptable price
@Electronic4246 жыл бұрын
Perhaps if I tried more of their line I'd find some long lasting ones, but I have a narrow taste currently. I try to steer clear of gourmand/super sweet fragrances they make me feel not so good. I also dislike some of the middle eastern perfumes with oud and other fecal and incense aromas. I live in a warm/cool climate in California so I mainly stick to freshies, with the occasional woody/tobacco, but I'm trying to like some boozy malty fragrances in line with Pure malt. Perhaps my tastes will change as I hit me mid 30s.

Yeah DUA is great. I have about 2 dozen frags I bought from them. I’d say I loved about 80% of all the ones I bought. And the few I don’t like, i was easily able to sell them on eBay. As they are popular with men. I hated DUA’s version of Baccarat Rouge 540 edp and extrait but lots of ppl loved them so they sold for more than I paid. Which was great.
@nisaks16 жыл бұрын
I have both. I like the Dua version but in my opinion there is no comparison. Xerjoff lasts forever when Dua faded in about 4 hours. The dry downs on my skin are completely different. Dua goes fruity and Xerjoff goes very classic and just beautiful.

New sub! Great description!! Received a sample of pikovaya Dama and actually really enjoy it. For me, leans feminine. Was wondering how DUA compared. Thanks for this vid. 415$ is a lot of cash.
@PaulPaid6 жыл бұрын
I purchased Pikovaya Dama because I tried Queen of spades and thought it was one of the best scents I've ever smelled (and I own about 150 frags, niche and designer). I ended up selling the Xerjoff because it smelled way different to me. I personally thought there was only about a 20% similarity. The Xerjoff was very vague and uncharacteristic for a fragrance costing about $500 on a good deal. The Dua was much sweeter, floral/citrus fruity and projected way better.

Btw, your pronunciation of pikovaya dama is pretty good. Did you go to Cambridge, perchance? So many kgb spies have graduated from there, it's like their finishing school :)

Loved the news in the beginning! Pushkin is a great author but unfortunately I still haven't read that novel. You know what I'll do? I will get a sample (even though I don't know from where) and read the book. Recently I am really into aldehydes but I am soo piicky with them. Maybe that will be the one for me. Love your review, Dan. You inspired me to try it out even more, than the notes:) Cheers!

Thanks Yana! I would love to see you review either of these. I haven't read the book either. If you listen to Tchaikovsky or Shostakovic while you smell this and read Pushkin it will be perfect.

Your openings are my #IntroGoals. I prefer the OG Piko (de gallo) ever so slightly over Queen of Spades, but I do really like the Dua and love the idea of being able to sport something this classy without having to break the bank. My Wife didn't like it, unfortunately... Or fortunately, since now it's all mine.

Not usually a fan of clone houses. The only clone I would recommend is Rasasi's La Yuqawam (Tuscan Leather), as it's an improvement IMO. Some people would also say Creed's clones of Mont Blanc's Individuel & Mugler's Cologne (Original Santal & Original Vetiver respectively), but I feel that Mont Blancs & Muglers are superior.

I bought a few Duas after seeing videos from paid influencers like MrSmelly. I feel tricked. To my nose they are nowhere near the same quality when smelling the original and Dua side-by-side. Reading up more on Dua I discovered they are one of those mall kiosk counters simply ordering their fragrances from a third party company - no perfumers or special techniques to copy these fragrances, just some packaging and a website. They have rebranded themselves and taken serious efforts to get noticed on youtube and facebook. It's working for them - Dua is everywhere on the fragrance forums. All I can say is try both side-by-side before you buy, otherwise you may feel like me - that you have thrown your money away. And to me they aren’t so cheap. Although, I do agree with most of the comments here that Pikovaya is priced at a fools level. To MrSmelly, love when you share your insights on “classic fougeres”, happy to see you have another revenue stream and was looking forward to trying your own creation. That said, reputation and trust, once in question, is difficult to rebuild. This schilling muddies up the water enough that I will pass on trying your fragrance. It’s just too difficult for me to know if what you are sharing is really coming from you or is being stated because you have a signed agreement with Dua.

See this is why I come here for truthful reviews. Coz everyone on DUA lies like crazy. Every review of every perfume is 5 stars and everyone just raves about them ALL. I think they don’t publish any reviews that are less than 5 stars. I left a 3 star for this one, but I wrote the truth. Too soapy, cheap smelling and too aldehydic. I don’t like soapy perfumes and this one is way too soapy. I remember this man i once dated smelling just like this when he came out the shower. Very strange. And what’s even stranger is that ppl are paying top dollar at Xerjoff for this nasty thing. But ppl with more money than sense would buy farts in a bottle and pay $450 and swear they love it. Coz THATS what MFK baccarat rouge 540 edp or extrait smells like to me. Farts in a bottle. Nasty nasty “perfume” . Thanks for the honest review. This is my honest review. 🤓

Dua Queen of Spades is among my worst blind buys ever. May have been my last blind buy. Smells a lot like a perfume my grandmother wore. Does not remind me of any soap I've experienced. Smells real powdery mixed with a hint of perfume. Not my cup of tea. I highly recommend anyone test before buying.

Thanks for this comparo. I have Queen of Spades, which is on sale. Great scent description, review; good to hear close to orig. Queen is def regal soapy fresh to me. Unisex "perfumy" as noted hence1 bottle worthy (so far.) Masham has new T Ford Fougeres, others out including a lux edition from Mr. Smelly's treasured Acqua Di Parma: Note di Colonia 2. Hopefully Masham sends you the ADP, which is extra groovy to my nose. Great to get the frag-com news updates.

Awe man DUA’s version is so much better. Xerjoff’s is just nasty, soapy, dirty, can’t explain it. I bought a bottle of the DUA for my hubby. He loves it. Then decant of Xerjoff Pica that I have is so bad, I heard a lot of bad reviews about it. I agree. There are very few Xerjoff perfumes I really like, I’d say out of all the ones I tried, I like 5 and really love 3. That’s it. But i didn’t like any of the Oud line . I hate Ouds. I don’t like soapy shaving foam barber shop smells either. That’s why this one is great for hubby. Not on me. Too bad, it’s soooo yummy on him.

Thanks for your comment and for the compliment Enrico. You can see from the comments that other viewers have bought and hugely enjoyed Dua Fragrances. I pride myself on being open to reviewing all kinds of fragrances - from drugstore cheapies to designers and niche houses - and clones. I realise some people don’t like Dua but I would be a worse reviewer if I didn't feature fragrances that I genuinely like just because they are polarising. I will continue to review any fragrances that I think are interesting to myself and my viewers.
