I get how one can see what Simon’s doing as a power trip, but digging deeper there’s a lot of dynamics that isn’t as obvious at first. Again, this was a situation created to test leadership. Jurin passed, Maju on the other hand eliminated herself from her own group as the leader. Either to avoid making the tough decision or hoping to get drafted to a better team. The girls’ strongest trait is their bond and sisterhood. There’s a reason for that. Also there’s the future adversity they’ll face as a group that Simon is aware of. As a an all Japanese group training in Korea, you don’t have to look far to see all the hate and animosity the receive for things that are out of their control. Simon has very personal reasons to create a group to made to bridge gaps between Korea and Japan. He mentions in a recent IG post how his mother taught him about the uneasiness between both countries growing up. Having grown up with a Korean father and Japanese mother. And being a former idol, I believe there is no better person to lead these girls.

SIMON really made a gamble on this one. A dance on tight rope. The western world might not be that familiar with the existing animosity between the two nations - even if there are dime a dozen Japanese Idols in KPOP industry, those idols are still molded in the same fashion as 'K-Idols' and must perform, act and do as their Korean counterparts. But Simon and XGALX dream is different. They don't want the generic formula in creating a girl group. They did something unconventional. They did something special and out of the box. They did something most of KPOP and JPOP fans hasn't seen before. They broke boundaries. They broke the glass ceiling and prove all the naysayers and haters wrong. They gave us XG. ♥🔥 The flyest group out there. No typo.

Power trip? What? Are the girls not free to leave whenever they want and try in another company with another director if they feel their current director is being unfair? Power trip is what a prison guard does when he makes decisions and abuses prisoners knowing they can't leave prison, they are stuck there so the guards actually have power over them.

Thank you for this reaction. I'm seeing this again. And then seeing how XG killed their HITC performance yesterday made me cry a bit. 😢 The hardships, heartaches and pain these girls felt during those trainee days has paid off. They deserve the world and more. It goes to show the training regimen that SIMON put them through was worth it. Not only it made them the most battle ready girl group ever, but the sisterly bond they formed during those trainee days has made them so freaking in sync on stage and all of the performances they do. On stage : freaking monsters. Off stage : lovable and adorable dorks. 😂♥ *You might wanna check out XG'S Three Meals A Day 😂😅

Watching Maya at the end of the episode looking back over her shoulder, at the dance studio, as if hoping that Simon or another coach were to come out and say 'come back, we were wrong' was heart breaking.

btw, I think it was pretty hard for Simon to put those situations and stress on the girls also, he was an ex kidol he probably understand what's going on in the industry and he probably would want to fully prepare the girls for the hardship ahead... it's alot more tougher than we can imagine so he needed to simulate some of the things they will face earlier to train and prepare them... Since he was trying to create a team that can compete on global level...

I totally get why they do it! Doesn’t mean I agree with it. But I also don’t agree with how the kpop industry is in terms of the insane levels of stress they are placed under. So whilst I understand it’s necessary, it’s sucks that these are the measures they have to take!

@@melaniereacts yeh I get what you mean but that's the reality of the world, especially in competitive fields like sports, pretty much you win or go home... And I think Simon is already pretty much one the best managers out there he truly loves those girls like his daughters, I believe he treats them fairly and carefully as best as he can...you see how Simon sat with those girls in the 3rd team at the end and talked with/ counsel them.. XG is in good hand, and look at the results now, it feels pretty worth it..

I understand why you were upset about Maju since she was such a great dancer, but I totally agree with Simon. Besides results, he wanted them to work TOGETHER to grow and she abandoned her team in the first oportunity she had to save herself, so to give her another chance while other members were going back home will be unfair to them. I always like to put myself into Simon's shoes, to me he's more than a manager/producer/ceo he's like a pathernal figure that can be harsh when he needs to but also empathetic and this kind of reflects how these girls are today. For example here 29:45 when he says "How are you feeling, tell me honestly" makes me remember the behind the scenes of Shooting stars' recording when this exact same girls are there feeling confortable to express their ideas and feelings to him. If it were any other company they'll probably stay quiet and do as they are told so, but for them is a relationship built way back during the trainee days. One of the things that I thought it was most interesting in this episode (besides Jurin picking up the whole final team xD ) is when Simon asks Maya "Do you know where you're messing up?" and she says "no" and then after the member's scout where Maju didn't get picked and a new team is formed, you can see Chisa here 26:03 teaching Maya where she's messing up. Also, even for a brief moment when we see this team dancing here 27:55 we can notice how much better they're dancing with each other compared to when Maju was leading them. This episode's process says a lot about the members and it's so clear to me why Jurin was picked as the Leader and Chisa as the sub-leader. I remember when I've readed in Jurin's blog she talking about Chisa and she says "she completes me in the points I lack". These girls are really Xtraordinary.

I get it for sure. But the whole situation was for the girls to kick one of them out of their team. That’s not exactly teaching “team work” either. So I don’t see how Maju choosing to leave her group for another is much worse than choosing to kick someone out. I trust the process and I understand why it’s being done. But I am an extremely empathetic person so it’s just hard to watch 😂 even if I know it’s made them who they are today haha

Putting aside their dancing skills, one of them leaving is their amazing future rapper, and the other two are their future lead vocalists, I think those factors are what "saved" them later.

31:15 Unfortunately, this is the really of life. You don't get what you want if your are nice - you need to be hungry, you need to have grit, the passion, the willingness to do everything so you can achieve things. SIMON, by this time, is teaching this girls the harsh really of the path they have to travel to achieve their dreams.

Whilst I understand, I have been a elite athlete my whole life representing my country in 6 world championships. And not once along the journey did I have a mean coach. I know what they are preparing for is completely different however I don’t believe harsh’ness is the only way to get people to the top.

I see that you didn’t agree with the training, we totally understand. Im very soft myself and it was harsh. But that’s the reality in this business I guess. But look at them now. I just saw them this past weekend and they were flawless. The whole stadium was packed once they got on. The love they received from NYC was immense. Chancellor, one of their producers said they started to tear up after their performance. They have never felt that much energy and love. It’s the hardship they went through that made them who they are. The only direction now is up, all the way up to the top

it was so tough to watched and the fact that Maya, Chisa and Juria were at the bottom and had worked so hard to get on top sent goosebumps through out my body. The amount of dedication these girls had put just to become the best is inspiring. Mad respect to all XG members.

Hikaru was supposed to be debuting with them as well but now since she is in contract with Kep1er (gp 999 girl group) shes gonna join xg as the 8th member once the contract is done :) so yeaa jurin literally chose all of the xg's members

@@jurinaissance hi~I saw this news coming from Jurin and Simon that was supposed to be written in a interview magazine but now at the end of the documentary ep5 he said he selected 8 but they delete the video cuz some mistakes so I wonder if was that part cuz at the end XG is 7 but honestly till now I was always thinking that it was between Hikaru and Hinata to be chosen
