These girls are all JAPANESE. I just wanna put it out there because so many comments calling them Korean. They have nothing to do with YG, despite the rumor. They are under AVEX, which is a big Japanese music label that has been the center of J-pop industry, and produced artists like Ayumi Hamasaki. Another piece of info to understand J-pop: J-pop didn’t really needed to export abroad like K-pop cuz the domestic market was big enough to profit, meaning their music style has only followed domestic trends (which led to some creative music like Perfume and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu). The problem is big labels like Avex didn’t even allow their MVs to be played by other countries by limiting license etc.. BUT with XG they decided to finally open to the world.

The choreo is by Americans, lyrics by Alessia and hwaji, investment and company purely Japanese. Their management is Korean/Japanese but they trained in Korea so have a Korean team too. Wouldn’t call them jpop either rn. Just pop.

LDH entire roster. Kpop has specific characteristics but how is XG different from FAKY, HAPPINESS or even Flower? Also Kpop music is produced by Europeans and Americans. They’re sometimes remakes of western songs. There’s no Korean melodies. It’s all about image and song formation. Anyways… They debuted in February. They haven’t even had time to to promote tippy toes. They were able to get on Korean stages because their fans are kpop fans. They aren’t going for the Korean market. No wrong. 1. The company never said they were yg affiliate. Ppl online made an assumption since they were announced around the time yg announced their plan to release a gg. The girls were trained at yg, even ikon member Congratulated them. Hinata is ex yg trainee. Ppl assumed. Then yg clarified they were not involved. 2. The choreography for both of their songs is by the lab…an AMERICAN dance group. Music (both singles) is by multiple ppl, Korean, Japanese, American and European etc. 3. They were trained in Korea for a long time so their team management team is Korean. Even shot the MV in Korea I believe. But their genre is up for debate

@@kbkgene kpop is heavily influenced by US/western pop. Their choreography is by Americans. The music is by East and west collab. All in English. The guy managing them is Japanese/Korean but was a kpop idol in the past. They were trained in Korea and Japan. They have Korean influence due to their Korean team helping manage them. But same could be said about the Kpop groups who have Americans helping them with music, image, and choreography. Does that make them American pop artists? No. XG isn’t jpop either but they are kind of like FAKY, bananalemon or happiness imo (please check them out!). Don’t worry about their category, just enjoy the music.

They didn’t debut on mcountdown! They debuted in February. 🙄. Their choreography is by Americans. The producer is Japanese/Korean and has affiliation with Japanese business. He was a Kpop idol in the past. Kpop have western producers, directors, western image, even release English singles but still say it’s kpop. What’s the difference with saying they are kpop? XG isn’t jpop Either by fan opinion. It’s just pop.
