All the girls been killing these tracks but leave it to Coco to set it on Difficulty 1000 No-Death Speedrun mode and pick a Jay-Z beat. Not just a Jay beat but one of his most iconic beats on a track he absolutely murdered. I don't think I've ever heard anyone freestyle over this before. I'm sure it's been done but it's a beat that if you're gonna touch it you better know what you're getting into and you better go hard af. Coco was up to the task. Absolute fire.

I’m a huge fan of XG especially Cocona. I expect there are people who are suspicious of them as rappers as their background is not so much from the streets but somewhat manufactured as K-pop is in general. I’m not downing that avenue! I’ve seen how hard these kids work and I can’t fault them for what they do, especially if they are as amazing as XG is. That being said, I think the problem came in with the hair and the "blaccent" that they’d use at times. I’m not sure how I feel about the hair since I personally don’t think we can gatekeep hairstyles, yet I understand where some people are coming from with their perspectives. But the blaccent can be a bit off putting depending on how it’s used. All that said, I love Cocona and I liked this mixtape 🔥

I’m black and I’m not critical on the “blaccent” as others. When you grow up listening to certain artists and are influenced it will start to show in your bars a bit. Given that English is their 3rd language (besides Maya), they don’t have much reference to pull from so they will somewhat mimic the artists they love at times in cadence. They never pretend to be street or gangster in lyrics. They rap about their own experiences which is what you are supposed to do as an artist regardless of background. I’m sure as their English improves they will develop their own unique voices. Coco already has a deep voice in any language she speaks, Maya’s tone is pretty much the same, and Harvey’s is a soft tone in all languages
