@peterbull39552 жыл бұрын
Also, not to be too much of a whiner, but Markus' 360 into a 50-50 is super impressive and they're just counting spins. So much more precise than landing boardslide or lip. And, Sven Thorgrens 50-50 transfer to lip (or board? I forget) is kind of wild too. It must be so easy to slip out trying to pull that transfer. I just don't get why commentators can't point out subtlties like these.

That rail butter is cute and smooth but it's not at the technical difficulty of any of the transfers or pullbacks or Red's boardslide through the elbow kink. Most of the riders in the field could probably stomp it first try. His other rails had messy exits and the slides weren't squared up. They've put a way bigger emphasis on jibbing than they used to so you can't just zeech into an early exit or scrub your landing and expect a 1620 to save you. I think it's tough for Craig to give an honest analysis of a weaker run like that without sounding like he's being too harsh (hung out with him a handful of times and he's genuinely the nicest guy, he just can't be mean).

Sick event. Couple of things i think would make it even better: 1. Get rid of the time thing and just give everyone 4 runs as they get that many anyway. 2. Show us the score. Makes it more exciting when you can see how close the riders are to each other on points. 3. Speed was a big issue and a reason why many runs got thrown away. Getting rid of one jump would allow riders to get more speed and airtime to do bigger tricks. It would also mean you dont have to throw away a run because of a small misstake.

Speed was definitely an issue today. I’ve noticed it typically always on this slope type course though. X games should consider stretching the course out a tad bit. It’s always unfortunate to see a perfectly solid run not be able to be finished due to just not having enough speed.

@Caden Michnal What, make it easier? Then they have to go bigger to impress the judges. Forgive I thought that was implied.
@CadenMichnal2 жыл бұрын
@@nebula1919191 the jumps were to close to where people were struggling to even make it to the landing. If you separate the jumps more we would have seen more people be able to complete a run rather than having to skip the jump due to issues with speed. If you think this means people would go too big that’s not an issue as they are professional athlete’s, they aren’t trying to cover shoot the landing they just want to make it to the landing. For argument sake, I was a professional for 2 years myself. I would rather over shoot a jump than too not make it, coming up short on a jump hurts far more than over shooting.

It's a little known knowledge tidbit, but a break in a bone can be an odd plus if it heals well in proper alignment and enough calcium is in the diet. The bone can in some cases come back even stronger than the original unbroken bone. It's only sprains and other injuries that damage the soft tissue like ligaments that can cause problems long term and reduce the ability of a person. Agreed that it's still impressive though. Psychologically, any injury like that tends to cause people to hold back afterwards.
