hi , can the projector go to 300 inch ?

Alex, What is your opinion of the contrast for this projector. Every other reviewer seems disappointed that the contrast results in a sub par range , somewhere around 300:1. 2500:1 is professional cinema quality . Other reviewers have noted that an acceptable ratio for these "lifestyle projectors should be at least 1000:1. I was ready to buy until I heard how disappointed they were. There is supposed to be a firmware upgrade that was released on Sept 23,2023 that addresses this issue. I am hoping that I hear that it improves the contrast to more acceptable levels. These are some of the drawbacks of LED projectors. (even thought this is hybrid LED with laser) I'd be curious to hear what you have to say about the contrast results, before and after the upgrade. I have had mine for about a month now. I don't see any issue's with contrast. The picture is amazing even in brightly lit rooms. I painted my wall in a grey and it's great. The Dolby vision is not something I enjoy and I would compare it to watching a movie on your phone when suddenly you hit the 5% battery life and your picture dims. I just don't like dark movies and that's kinda what Dolby Vision is made for. It's not for everyone. I leave it disabled for now. My blacks look perfect without it but not so much with it.

@@D_H_F odd... I have to turn mine down so it's not so bright it hurts my eyes. But that is with Dolby vision off. I manually adjusted mine to my taste and turned on the environment adaption and it does great in sunny bright or complete lights out.

My XGIMI Ultra is awesome and super bright. Maybe you got a defective unit? Mine blows my BenQ out of the water.

@@Emery19 I heard a few reviewers comment on the low contrast numbers on the XGiMI Horizon. What's your opinion on contrast. Id also like to know what you think about the 3D mode which got some high marks from reviews.

I've had mine for less than a month now and I love it. The contrast is fine, the picture is bright and the fan is super quiet.

I haven’t used any other projector that was better than this one. Maybe whoever said that has more experience with many other more expensive projectors 🤷‍♂️

Hi, did you test gaming? Also does the projector produce alot of heat from the vent after watching for more than 30mins?

I didn't try gaming on it... It does produce some heat but nothing crazy

No. I run mine as a main living room tv and I have it upside down near the ceiling built into the wall. I left room for it to vent out to the room behind it. There is a mode that is called performance but I have no idea why it would be needed. It makes a lot of noise and produces heat. I don't even care what it does... nobody is going to use it.

What about if you cast from the Netflix app on your phone will it output at 4k at that point?

The easiest way to watch netflix in 4k is to use a chromecast device or amazon fire stick connected to the projector. Casting from the phone won't be in 4k

As far as the sound goes...it's fine but anyone that can afford this projector can afford a soundbar with sub and surround speakers at a minimum. Its definitely a must for a permanent setup with any projector. You are cheating yourself if you don't expand your sound. This projector can receive and transmit Bluetooth.

I don't understand the contrast issue that everyone is talking about. I sometimes wonder if any of those complaining actually OWN the projector. I have it and have owned it in less than a month and I don't see any contrast issues. This thing is super bright too, much brighter than my previous projector Epson 5050ub. The only drawback that I see with the Ultra is the black level that is not comparable to the Epson and the even better blacks of JVC.

@@francismedina4547 Exactly when we talk about contrast, we refer to how dark the black can be. I've heard that this one is super bright but blacks are not that good compare to others, but again, this one has other advantages... to each is own
