@@alanchamberlain9902 Miyagi made the mistake of professing his love for his best friend's intended which dishonored him, destroying their friendship, and putting a death sentence over his head forcing him to abruptly leave Okinawa to come to the US. He made the mistake of not taking the love of his life with him. His father got very sick and he just barely made it back to Okinawa to say goodbye before he died. His past mistakes caused pain and suffering in the village because of the vengeance and anger of his former best friend. NOWHERE was Miyagi "protected" from anything. His vulnerability was shown in his decision making. Why would a Japanese *master* of the purest-form of Karate struggle against people that teach a flawed-version of the art that focuses on anger, aggression, and violence? Clearly you have ZERO understanding of how true martial-arts work. Not only that, this was Daniel's story. Not Miyagi's. Daniel was the one that had to struggle in fights because he is someone that just got started in Karate nearly as an adult fighting against people that had trained their entire lives. If anyone was "protected" around here it was Daniel. Not very realistic for someone as clumsy and awkward as Daniel to get so good at Karate so fast that he could hold his own in a real-fight against someone like Chozen who trained in the same style he did since he was a child, but it's a movie so who cares as long as it's entertaining? Miyagi was always calm in his fights while everyone else were either too aggressive or too cocky. It's easy to best people like that because they lack focus and that is the central theme in this entire series from movies to streaming series. Yoda only "struggled" against one person 6 Star Wars films he appeared in, and that was Palpatine who was the most powerful Sith in the entire run. Even that fight in ROTS he didn't really struggle. He took the best shots the powerful Emperor had and turned it right back at him. It was only one little slip-up that allowed Palpatine to escape.

Mr. Miyagi is right. At the 3:45 mark he tells Daniel to choose his own way when it comes to karate. In life, you need to find your own way of things. Even in Forrest Gump, his mom Sally Field tells Tom Hanks you have to figure out your own destiny. People need to find what is right for them in life in all scenarios.

Fraud teacher, with plot protection, most overrated character ever, can't stand Miyagi Do style. The writers in CK pander to it so much. Mr Miyagi the most overrated character of all time, as if a small guy like him in his 60s could take out 3 prime guys, including 2 students of Master Kim. It was the 80s do I get it. The writers in Cobra Kai, pander to Miyagi Do so much. Fans act like size matters with Kim Da Eun, but it's ok for Miyagi to beat so many top level young guys in their prime. Miyagi Do is the most overrated style of fighting I have ever seen. They should have called Cobra Kai, Miyagi Do because Cobra Kai are always made look weak and like the bad guys, when Miyagi Do aren't any better, awful writing in Cobra Kai.
