Thanks for the early review, Fred. XHDATA had been advertising the E100 on YT a few times and I was surprised to see the company suddenly entering the already saturated amateur radio transceiver world market. I wonder if they had contracted Baofeng to manufacture this since it does look like the new Baofeng transceiver. 🤔 Wish XHDATA came out with a much nicer looking font for the E100 though.

All these dark radio are very good value and mostly do the same thing. This E100 is very well made. Having the extra transmit power really helps with range. As for a prepper radio a small AM/FM battery radio is ideal. See this video for more. kzbin.info/www/bejne/poPLaYduhb1joK8

Hi you joking nobody's going to turn down more power just don't use full power near your head. USA cbers can buy ranger CBS that do 800 watts and uk hams just got a power increase to 1 kilowatt 1000 watts more power more range and you sound louder. Saying that I've worked Australia with 10 watts and Brazil with 5 watts bye

I think official SWL’s point is that this radio allows transmitting on non-Ham bands, including Airbands, etc.

Just an unrelated question, I am curious, what's that graphic equaliser for to the right of the E-100 unit when you do you conclusion as the end of the clip ? The ROTEL unit above looks like a stereo amplifier. Is that a component stereo system in the shack too ?

There is not much to choose between them. Each has it good and bad. However each new gen they are better built.

I Don think you can flash this radio with egzumer its a totally different radio to the quansheng I have 2 of them and can't find any firmware to flash it.

I use the F4HWN Firmware on the UV-K5. This devices have a few problems with harmonics. For FCC it's ok , but not for Europe. A larger problem for me is during charging over the USB C port,the charging controller produces a lot of distortions in the 70cm Band. Then signals under S9 are not readable.

Waste of time if you can't install new firmware. Essential since you can use IJV to do the calibration of correct power levels (measure the factory settings and you'll see what I mean), and setting the squelch levels that are AWFUL. Factory settings are all too high. Once you've done that, load EGZUMER over the top. All the settings and memories remain untouched, voila !
