@Ryan Rafter Hexerei translates to witchcraft, which is the act of perfoming, well, the things that witches do. :D Hexenmeister is a master of witchcraft, though when you say "Hexenmeister" it is masculine, so probably referring to a male witcher. Hexen is witches, so women who perform witchcraft and spells and all that. And Nekromantie (which is how it is spelled) means necromancy, summoning the dead using magic and all that. I was born the same year as this game came out, so I was obviously too young to play it at its peak of popularity, but my older brother would replay the game a lot when I was little and I loved watching. This was one of my favorite sequences to watch!

I was 6 years old when I got my nin 64 and this was one of the games I got. I was such a dumb kid playing this game I didn’t know what I was doing half the time. Like my first disastrous fight with queen gohma I thought the Deku nuts were actually hurting it but it was just stunned. After that fight I was at least smart enough to learn that all new items obtained in dungeons give you some kind of advantage against the boss. I was able to progress pretty smoothly up until water temple where I ended up quitting the game in frustration for a month.

I don't think it's so weird. Ocarina of Time has a sad ending, compounded by the somewhat lamenting tune of much of the credits. All those Disney Films and my first game (Super Mario 64) conditioned me to seeing the hero unite with the princess and then this game comes around and we have them say goodbye after such a momentous journey... kicked my insides to say the least.
