The common people do not appreciate the finer subtleties of good leadership, particularly in significant public goods such as geopolitical leadership, defence and trade and are preoccupied with their lives. These public goods impact lives directly even in the provision of job opportunities that arise from employment creation sustained through economic growth facilitated by trade but people are unaware as they are skewed to the macro level. Greater trade tensions will translate into fewer jobs and less profits and opportunities in the economy. A lot of work goes into the provision of these public goods as dedicated ministries are organised on the portfolios of interest helmed by leaders in ensuring the political direction in the implementation of national imperatives. Overall, I think a number of political watchers will agree that despite the current trade difficulties and foreign policy tensions, China's time has come and its on an ascendant rise with newfound strengths in technology and innovation and enjoys continued confidence in its market economy underpinned by social stability safeguarded through a strong military.

xi spent a lot of time in the countryside of China when he was a youth (1970s). He has a deep understanding of the poverty in the rural and remore area of china. He was the CCP secretary of Fujian Province later. He stayed in urban area for a long time as well. He knows the uneven development between the rural and urban district of China. That's why his focuses on the development of countryside more than cities.

As a Han person who went to primary school in China, we go to school with our textbooks teaching us the wonderful cultures of the 56 ethnicities that form the Chinese population. Most han people view ourselves as boring and look up to the other ethnicities for their colorful clothing, ability to sing and dance, and the mysterious folklores behind their culture. When we meet a minority ethnic person in China, we are filled with curiosity and wanting to be friends and learn more. Yes the ethnic minorities in China are minorities, but they are nothing like minorities in the U.S., there is no DISCRIMINATION, there's only envy! Yes sometimes they are poorer, because they do often live in more rural places, but that is actually something I only learnt of after I great up. All I knew when I was young is that they have more interesting culture than the han's hahah. Because there are much less of them, we feel the need to protect these culture, because it would be a big loss to myself, to China if it is lost. So when we still had one child-policy, actually ethnic minorities can have more than 1, some 3-4 depending on how scarce their ethnicity is left with ( this is also true for some more rural places as they need people in the family to help with farming). Ethnic minorities enjoy lower bars for getting into better universities (分数线), a bar is set for every city differently for if they want to get into Beijing Shanghai schools.

@@Jenijenny2023 Fascinating. I wish they make Cambodia, Hong Kong, Japan, Laos, Mongolia, Nepal, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam into the next Xinjiang this way, that would not only save them from being prone to extremist beliefs (namely western ones) and it would save them from poverty.

Xi had worked as a peasant for 6 years before he attended an university. He is still visiting remote country sites as much as he can. He requests his government do the same to get first hand understanding of situation.
