[EN Synopsis] Dong's opinions on Yoimiya's rerun It’s been almost an entire year since Yoimiya’s initial release, and although she faced many criticisms, she’s at a much better place now thanks to new teammates and improved in-game mechanics. First impressions of Yoimiya: - As a character designed for single targets, her multipliers are average at best (mhy is being conservative with this one) - She requires Bennett as one of the founding teammates. - Her constellations are all valuable, and so are refinements on the Thundering Pulse (TP), her BiS weapon. While C6R5 enjoyers will not be having complaints, the average player will not have the same experience. Despite her drawbacks, she performs surprisingly well with low investment and will only improve as players invest more into her. She is still one of the best ranged characters in the game, capable of tracking enemies diagnosed with ADHD. One fine example would be the Raiden Makoto weekly boss. While many top tier DPS teams can theoretically put down this boss monster before she enters phase 2, they would miss majority of their damage due to the puppet zooming across the domain. Another critical information players take into consideration before pulling Yoimiya would be Hu Tao. As Pyro carries, Hu Tao was always the favored one by the community at large due to higher damage potential. With the addition of Yun Jin, Yoimiya would see a 10% increase to her damage when compared with Bennett (with specific teams and weapons) and this frees up Bennett for another team. Yelan is also a crucial piece that seemed to help Yoimiya close the gap between herself and Hu Tao with her passive granting bonus damage. Granted Yelan can also fit in Hu Tao teams, she would need C2 for Hu Tao to vaporize consistently, which isn’t exactly primo-friendly and skyrockets the team cost. What most players end up doing is pairing Yelan with Xingqiu, without realizing that these two Hydro characters end up taking the spotlight as the central piece of the team composition. Slot in either Hu Tao or Yoimiya to be the on-field carry, and they will produce similar results in real battle scenarios. Truth to be told, the game’s DPS requirement is fairly stagnant in its current state, while the appearance of Yelan and her overpowred kit has blinded the players to think that the on-field DPS is doing more damage. Would this cause another raise in enemies’ health and general game difficulty in 3.0? only time will tell. If releases like Yelan would appear more in the future, on-field carries will have less burden on their shoulders and players could have more flexibility choosing their favorite characters. TLDR: Hu Tao or Yoimiya? If both remain at C0, Yoimiya is the easier one to raise and to use out of the two. The 4 Star weapon Rust is great and outperforms some 5 Star bows. If both at C1R1, Hu Tao takes the cake for higher DPS ceiling if the player is willing to learn her playstyle. Bits added from aiden: Hutao has an added element of survivability, due to her health suppressing playstyle, and some dendro reactions damage on field units. Whereas Yoimiya, who is a ranged user to begin, is able to stay out of range of those collateral damage. Also, HuTao being designed to be heavily reliant on Melt/Vape, will have a hard time dishing out damage when Dendro is released, as Dendro has been shown to "hoard" onto Hydro, and thus potentially turning HuTao's vape, into burning. Whereas Yoimiya's kit isn't exactly reliant on reactions, so she's somewhat ambivalent about these changes in meta. This, in time, will further amplify Yoimiya's superiority, as she can kite enemies to death. discord.gg/donggenshin discord.gg/genshinteahouse
