The fact that he even gave up one of his life to save Jing for Xiao Yao's happiness... I know at the end of the drama he will be the one that will leave a long lasting impression in viewers hearts. His character is so different from a typical love interest, such a selfless love that truly is more impactful than living the rest of the life together.

My heart aches for Nine Headed Demon. Xiang Liu deliberately chooses to push her away. 😢 because he doesn’t want her to fall in love with him. Earlier Xiao Yao told him that she wants to roam the world with a partner to share happiness with and to live idle carefree life. Xiang Liu knows that he might die in a battlefield in an attempt to gain back ChengRong ‘s glorious past state. He knows chances of winning are slim yet he can’t help but pursue this path as he feels deeply indebted to his gone patron. He prioritises his duties over his own life and happiness. I can see he wants to be with Xiao Yao and be loved by her. But he can’t afford it. He attempts to leave her completely in order to avoid her totally falling for him. However he keeps coming back to her for different reasons. He simply can’t help it. Because he genuinely loves her and wants her to be happy and safe. Such a tragic character 💔😢 And their chemistry is off the charts 🌟

for me xiang liu is the one that meant to be lost forever. the one in her life that was meant to enter her life, her heart, but always meant to be lost. Kind of 'the one that got away' but it was always meant to be that way. xiang liu knows it from the beginning that he will never be the one who stays by her side, also knows that she will never choose him. but for xiang liu, she will always be his choice, no matter what happens. he wants her to survive knowing that one day he won't be there to save her and protect her, he wants her to be able to protect herself. xiang liu is one of the most complicated character yet he's so simple at the same time. i don't know how to describe the love i have for xiang liu! he's the demon, but sometimes he's the only who truly cares about her eventhough he always said this and that in front of her. jing's and xuan's character couldn't even compare to xiang liu's. and man, tan jianci did so well in bringing this character into life. i have to admit at first i doubt he could bring life to xiang liu. i love him but i can't really see him as the tricky xiang liu. but boy i was wrong. i got bored watching the first few episodes when there's no xiang liu 😂😂 as much as i love xiang liu, i think the tragic-ness of his character, is what makes me loves him so much. in this lifetime, in this world, they will never be together. i just hope that the xiang liu and xiao yao in another universe, another parallel world could have their chance. cause yes, i think the 'lost you forever' refers to their arch, you can see it as xiang liu losing his chance forever, therefore losing her forever. or as how xiao yao lost her one love forever, the one that she knows always meant to be lost forever but she still love regardless. ah is there anyway to cure this heartache before and after S2? i hope one day tan jianci and yang zi could have another project together so we could pretend its xiang liu and xiao yao being happy together in anlther universe!

I heard some information from the readers .There is a hidden line in the novel that Tushanjing is Erectile dysfunction,that is why TSJ said the reason he love XY ,he said to XY he can still feel he is a man make her shy, that a strange reason because he is not a man .Later he married fang fang Yi ying and let her kid succeed clan leader ,he know her kids not his but still married her because he can not have kid.Tu Shan hou is so cruel,how come he let TSJ go,because he is disable. XY told XL a fox and snake story in the novel, she meet a snake demon ,she know the snake demon want to eat her but even knowing the danger. She still provoked it all the time, the fox demon want to catch her,the snake block the evil fox and died.XY ' view of love never grow in the novel,she want some one accompany because childhood trauma,that not love ,in the end she would be independent not afraid lonely, on the contrary he was caught by fox again,that is tragedy. By the way, XY's love for jing is like a pond,XY's love for XL is like a fountain ,you have to stop it or it will overflow.

My theory. Really the term 'Lost You Forever' is between Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao. The phrase is in Jianci's OST for XL, where in one of the verses the words are replaced to 'lost you forever'. This leads me to believe XL is the real ML, it's just that they lose their chances of being together- the choices XL have been facing and will face again in S2. Losing him is what drives her into Jings arms good and proper. Where as us, the viewers, know very well that nobody is in that memory mirror but XL. He is the secret closest to hear heart.

@@jitaoliver8223 When you watch all the scenes between Jianci and Yang Zi, paying attention to the music lyrics during the episodes, I think it's one of the scenes around that time when he's saving her with his blood, or just after when she's left. I want to say it's in a scene when the seashell is in the scene.

The author herself said, that the ML is Cangxuan and the title of the first tome refers to him. However, the novel is divided into three parts. The second one is named "Love you forever" and. according to the author is dedicated to TSJ. And the last tome, which includes the epilogue in XL's POV is called "Miss you forever", because he is the one, that she always misses, no matter what he does and what he wants her to believe, that he does. But I totally agree with you on the fact, that if XL actually confessed and wouldn't be so stubborn with the whole Shengnong army thing, they would've ended up together. Also, when XY was already spending so much time together with FFB, not knowing that he was XL, but feeling it, it was her brother, that pushed her towards TSJ by asking her to meet him. So there were simply too many obstacles, that were on XY way and too many doubts on XL way.

You are not wrong tho. LYF is the sequel of XY's parents story. And yes, in the novel there are two POV's. CX and XY. The author Tong Hua was really clear in her diagram. XY is in love with XL but she doesn't know that he loves her too. And she will never know. And second part is XY marries Jing. Basically, CX losing XY and XY losing XL. The novel is divided in volumes. It's called sauvignon blanc which translates to a "wine" in English but Tong Hua referred it a Deep love. Even in the description of the book, and Tong hua's introduction, it is very clear who. The prequel was all about "love and promised for a lifetime" while sequel is Long-lost love.
