Awesome...great video showing us how to fix these. They say, "Never throw anything away!" Even stuff that doesn't work right...attempt a fix/watch a KZbin video and at least try and fix before chucking it. Great stuff man...

+Chris DIYer Thanks, glad you liked the video. I couldn't figure out how to get into this unit until I found another video on KZbin with the trick. So yes, I think these sorts of repair videos are one of the best thing on YT, I've made use of a lot of them, so I like to give back to the community.

I have the same problem but not sure if it's the pins on the usb. I have a blackweb bwa 19wi 102. Any suggestions

See if you can peek inside the USB connector, may need a flashlight and a magnifying glass. Compare the one on the power bank with the problem to another USB connector and see if there's any visible difference.

@@The4Crawler did that after I wrote that. Looks the same. Also I plugged it into itself and it recognized it It did some strange light thing but I cant make it do it again It's a 10 dollar battery bank. Not about to take it apart. If there's a way to press the button a certain way or plug it to something then I'm game

How to disassemble it? I can't seem to slid it out despite removing all screws from front and back (total 8).
@The4Crawler
@The4Crawler 4 жыл бұрын
Mine came apart removing the bottom 4 screws. It may be that they've changed the design or perhaps they've glued the cells to the inside of the case. Maybe see if you can slide a thin blade carefully along the top and bottom of the case. Be careful not to damage the cells or make contact with any wiring.

How to check for bad cells? My powerbank doesn't charge both(in/out) ways and only 3 leds lightup when power button is pressed. I opened it up. Cell side voltage is 3.84V at the main leads. voltage is 1.2v when checked at the back of the USB out pin -@2 outside pins. And please guide me on how to open the cell connector joints. Can I use force to strip it off?
@The4Crawler
@The4Crawler 4 жыл бұрын
Only way I can think of is to open up the case and test the cell voltage(s) inside. If it's noticeably less than 4.2V, one or more of the cells might be failing and/or the charging circuit is faulty. If you can separate the cells and try checking each one by itself, you might find if there's one bad one.

@@The4Crawler Sir, I disconnected the cells and individually each cell read approx 3.8v and 3.7 - 3.8 amps. I haven't charged these because of the issue since almost 6 months. Problem started when I connected a usb led light stick. May be some short in the circuitry? There is no visible damage on the pcb.

Hello sir! I've got a problem with my xiaomi power bank 16000 mah it was charging with an original adapter for some hours and it was fully charged then I took it to charge my phone and I was surprised to find out it wouldn't charge it. I tested it with a multimiter and it's showing 0,47volts as soon as I start measuring + all 4 lights turn on then 3-4 seconds the lights go out and the voltage drops to 0,22volts.I dissasambled the power bank - didn't find any torn off cables of sort of ... and measured voltage of the batarries - they are 3.86volts now. I also tried to reset holding power button for 20 seconds - but it didn't help. Also I tried to charge the power bank with a usb from PC hoping that lower amps would help - but it didn't. Should I solder off the plus off the battery - ? Will it sort off reset the controller ? Any ideas? Thanks a lot!
@The4Crawler
@The4Crawler 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it might be worth unsoldering the battery and see if that can reset the controller circuitry. Might also check the battery voltage and see if that drops when you try to turn it on. If the voltage holds at 3.86v, then that says the cells are OK and it may be the USB output section is faulty.

+fliping720 Thanks, I think it took more time to shoot the video than it did to do the repair. First time I've ever looked inside one of these USB power banks, so made a few false steps along the way.

I have one that use lishen batteries and one that use Panasonic batteries. So I put the lishen one a side. It's good I think but I don't like it.

The easiest way would have been to use a very thin tweezer to correct the pin, i was attempting to do the same on the video, didnt have any spare usb port and then i came up with a better idea. I just bend the pin that was pushed in so that it has contact with the male usb, voila works like a charm and less work
@The4Crawler
@The4Crawler 7 жыл бұрын
Sounds like another repair option. I didn't have a pair of tweezers that would fit. I also figured the non-metallic screwdriver blade would not cause a potential short if the USB power turned on somehow.

Might want to take a look inside the USB output connector and see if the internal contacts are messed up like mine was. Symptom of that is if you can move the output power connector cable around inside the plug and sometimes get a charging connection.

Is that one of the USB connectors that came loose? If so, you'll have to open up the power bank and see if the solder joints broke, in which case it could be re-soldered. Or it may be the connector pins broke off, in which case you would need to source a replacement connector (i.e. one with the same pin connections) and then remove the broken pins from the circuit board and solder in the replacement. You'll need to evaluate if it is worth the time and effort to do that repair or just purchase a new power bank. If you go with a new unit, you could salvage the lithium cells out of the old one to use for other purposes. For example, you could get a low cost DIY power bank (one that comes w/o batteries) and then transfer the old cells to that new unit, assuming your old unit uses regular 18650 type cells.

I have the same power bank, but the problem is cannot be charge, can you make a video to repair that ?
@The4Crawler

A few things you might check. 1. See if the USB cable and what it's plugged into is capable of charging something. Try it on something else and see if it works there. I have some cables that work fine w/ one device and not with another. 2.Open up the case and check the cell voltage if you have a volt meter. It might be the cells have dropped below the battery protection/low voltage cutoff and the charging circuit won't turn on. If that's the case, you can often hook up some direct charger like an RC battery charger and give the cells a short charge to bring them up high enough to let the internal charger switch back on. I've not had any issues charging mine, so it would be hard to show how to fix a problem that's not present. If you can try those few things and report back at least the internal cell voltage, maybe I can show how to hook up the RC battery charger.

I couldn't make out any markings the way the batteries were configured. But if I get a chance to open up the case again, I think I might be able to peel back one of the bar code labels and see if there are any markings under that.

Xaiomi use LG and Panasonic battery cells, 18650 for the most models and Lipo packs for 2 or 3 different units. in this model (10000mah) they are using eather LG 1865F1L or LG ABF1L1865. as i said, some units i belive use panasonic and some might, i say again "might" use samsung but of that im not certain. concidering tesla motors use Panasonic cells in there cars altough alot more of them, i think it´s safe to say they make the best ones. xaiomi powerbanks are great becuse they have very high internal convertion effisency, above 90%. Ravpower is also a good manufacturer. mophie sucks :-D

hope it helped, xiaomi are realy tricky in how they use difrent brands in difrent models, easiest way to find out on a specific model is to just do a google image search like " xaiomi mi 10000mah battery" or instead of batter maybe "18650"

+SolarizeYourLife Yes, I imagine that same thing might happen to that style connector as well. I guess I need to take a look at the connectors when I get new devices to see if any of the contacts inside are a bit out of shape and prone to bending back like that.
