Xiaomi 12S Ultra VS Xiaomi 11 Ultra Camera: Not What I Think!

I have really mixed feelings about the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. On one side, that 1" Sony IMX989 and cooperation with Leica seem really promising. I like the Leica filter for food photos. But on the other side, it seems to deliver not that much, it even falls short for night photos. I’m not sure if it’s better than the Xiaomi 11 Ultra regarding the camera performance.

You're totally wrong this phone is a solid choice even thought it's released since few days unlike other flagships like iphone and samsung and p50 pro and vivo x80 pro they received a lot of updates that fixed and improved their camera while 12 s ultra is a new phone after a few updates it will destroy all of them

Great comparison. Looks like the 12s Ultra needs more software optimisation for the camera in some aspects like night photos but to me the video performance seems well improved (excluding selfie which was downgraded??? ). This shows that the software development+improvement currently isn't able to keep up with the hardware improvements for the phone cameras

It seems smartphone camera reach its peak unless they would improve the software to fully mimic the perfect same effect of large camera lenses because the camera hardware sensor on smartphone maybe can't improve anymore due to its physical limitations like pixel can take great photos with old and much weaker sensor but the software can improve the results,great comparison by the way.

Complete and fun comparison... congratulations!!! I found the Mi11u better in general, both in HDR and in the details and even in the colors except for the representation of the night sky, but the speed of the 12s is surprising and should make a lot of difference in photos with movement, but unfortunately this did not appear in the comparison. At times the Mi 12s Ultra reminded me of the Galaxy S22u, due to its tendency to add a certain magenta tone to the photos and exaggerate the contrast a little bit compared to previous generations. I say this because I have the S21 Ultra and in terms of camera, it was ahead of the S22 Ultra, according to comparisons between the two that I saw on various channels, as well as the photo samples on specialized sites... I would even like to express my anger with the result of the flagships launched so far in terms of camera, especially with Samsung, because as I said, I have an S21 Ultra, and I think it was the best in terms of photography last year, and after to see dozens of comparisons this year, I decided to stick to comparing it with the S22 Ultra itself, and such was my disappointment to be able to prove the DOWNGRADE (the CAPADA) that Samsung made in the S22 camera in several aspects, mainly in terms of details of the photos, side blurs and HDR, and because of that I took advantage of my channel to leave a comparison showing the INFERIORITY of the Ultra, S22 in relation to the S21, with strong EVIDENCE... I would very much like to know your opinion, my friend, and the from those who are most interested by stopping by and giving their opinion if they agree with what I show in the photos or if they have a different opinion. The reduction was general from the manufacturers in their flags, and with that Samsung also made me keep quiet waiting for the S23 Ultra. @@onuohafamily Not really... the sensors of the 2 zoom cameras are physically smaller... the lenses are more compressed because of the Spen and the slightly thinner thickness towards the top of the lens... other than that it's a software issue. .. which is more aggressive in contrast making the HDR compromised in several scenarios and the magenta tone of the face and sky in some scenarios, in short, several points that are not limited in the S21u are in the S22u, understand? the 12S Ultra seems to me much more consistent in white balance and highlights than its big brother that I own by the way. All the camera software part will be handled by Leica and it is necessarily reassuring for the future of this little gem. You will have to try the different Leica modes for night photos and see the difference. A fresh and pleasing review like your style. Cheer

Thanks for the comparison. In my opinion it could be the 12S (and also the 11ultra) is being held back by the camera software (not fully optimized to use the full capability of the hardware). Does xiaomi phone camera app have full manual mode and also RAW? (i have no experience with miui) I think using full manual control to lock exposure for example, might bring out the true capability of the sensors /i get it that normal joe and jane dont use full manual, but for above average/hobbyist shooter if the sensor can be utilized to its full capability in manual mode controls, that mean at least for ultra light travels, we can leave home our semi-pro cameras

I believe the 12S Ultra will be better than 11 Ultra due to new Camera censor & CPU. But regarding the color correctness, and color pallet, I think the 11 Ultra already do a great job. The picture quality different from color perspective is not very much different. Yes, it's noticeable when you compare the same picture side by side, but I feel it's not much different. And BTW, THANK YOU for doing this video.

Seems as expected. So mostly 12s Ultra is design cosmetic upgrade with better thermals and the gap between main cameras is very very small. Other tests claims that already to this one. At first glance I even wondered that 11u has entirely covered camera glass with hydrogel, but seems there is cutouts for that, ok then :) Coating actually seems non significant as was shown in marketing :)

The photos and videos samples show that this is not a 11u killer to begin with. There will be updates, but 12 pro never got much better. However, there are two things that you can't really see in this video. If you take photos of people close to the camera the one inch optical bokeh is amazing on the 12s and 11u will also lose in a shutter speed test.

seems like other than the infamous snapdragon 888, the 11 ultra seems to be the better phone overall, especially with the steep discount. i personally found those leica filters mostly good for marketing purposes. not the kind of change i hoped to see in xiaomi, but then that's one way to go premium with better profit margins i guess.

While this 12s ultra is an impressive camera system. For me, it won't beat the S22ultra in terms of color science. The consistency between all lenses has always been xiaomi weakness. I could never understand why they keep holding back on the front camera. S22ultra has the best front facing camera so far. And let's not forget updates, the consistency. If xiaomi wants to compete with the Samsung they need to improve on those aspects.

The camera is way better than the mi11 ultra , dynamic range , color profile and shutter speed , The uprade also are in haptic feedback , sound , battery and cpu . Also the display i think is more capable since u can choose also 90hz refresh rate , and lets talk about how hot the mi11 ultra get? unusable some time
