Xiaomi 13 Review | A worthy Samsung S23 alternative?

Reviewing the Xiaomi 13, one of the best compact(ish) phones in 2023 and hot Samsung Galaxy S23 rival. That camera tech isn't as hot at night as the Pro, but the Xiaomi 13 boasts the same excellent performance for gaming and feature-packed MiUI software. It's not as cheap as the OnePlus 11 or Realme GT3 but it's certainly a solid flagship which makes only a few small compromises.
I actually found the Xiaomi 13's camera to be better in low light than the Samsung S23, although it's still no Pro. Gamers will love that Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, plus the MiUI 14 gaming mode - ideal for Genshin Impact action. Battery life is also good, although the Pro and Galaxy S23 are slightly on top here.
That AMOLED screen may lack LTPO smarts, but movie fans should adore the crisp, sharp-contrast visuals. Those Xiaomi 13 stereo speakers pack a punch too, while there's buckets of storage.
So that's what I think of the Xiaomi 13 vs the Samsung S23 and Pro after a week of testing. Are you tempted?

@@amplifiedpoop it's the same here in Singapore but it comes with a xiaomi s1 mi watch at $1199.its about the same price with Samsungs S23, I've been using the xiaomi ui for 2yrs so far I don't miss Samsung. If you do a lot of photos I say go for it otherwise there are better phones coming in August.

I wish I experienced the same, My S20 FE 5G, while I was excited and enjoyed it a lot, only lasted 4 months before it needed two screen replacements with its infamous green lines then completely died when a water seeped in through the sim card tray. Now I am back to using my 4-year-old Xiaomi Mi 9T and the no notch all screen Screen display is still pristine. Skeptical in getting one of the new s23 series, might as well get an iPhone for reliability.

I like Xiamoi but I wish their phones had a Sd Card slot and Sim Card support in the United States. Had a Xiamoi Civi (Mi11 5g Ne international version) but it never worked with my A&AT sim card.

Bit of an unusual reason to not follow one of the most unbiased tech reviewers on this platform. Step by step, informative, humour included. I suspect other than posting these reviews he’s quite a busy guy having a family. No large creator has the time to respond to every comment bud. For the price it’s a worthy device. But as a pixel 7 pro owner, I’d say this. Depends on use case to be honest.

@@tommah78 tom the tech chap has just released his sort of review of the X6 pro. Chinese release only unfortunately for the foreseeable. Cameras look insane for photography stills but video is a miss. Design is interesting. And from what I've seen. He does reply to comments just not every one. Quite time consuming to film. Script. Edit and upload videos of the frequency he does, with a family and other work as well. One plus really surprised me with the 11 but as usual there'll likely be a pro. It's always a waiting game and we buy the best device for value and features only for another to be released shortly after. It's a dangerous game unless gifted them for review lol.

@@tommah78 further to device question, what is it that you're wanting from it? Top camera / fluid UI / software features added in updates or just a beast of a device from the get go. If that's the case I'd go s23 ultra but not everyone likes oneUI. If you want to balance between hardware and software that'll work for you pixel 7/7 pro all day long. If you want to purely optimise everything iPhone 14 series. Etc.

Xiaomi flagships use to be around the $4-500 mark when I bought my Mix 2 back in early 2018. Now they are as expensive as big brands of Apple and Samsung, I don't see the value in Xiaomi anymore. Now I have a Realme GT which has a 888 chip which was the flagship 2 years ago, and it only cost me $350.

everything have been hit by inflation even smarthphones. A Decent Midrange now costs $300+ dollars compared to 2-3 yrs ago. Also Xiaomi 13's base model is still about $200 cheaper compared to Samsung's and Apple's flagship base model so they're still cheaper. Even Realme flagship this year, Realme GT3, is priced at $650 for base model and note it only uses Snapdragon 8 Gen1.

I decided to go with companies that still includes one stop shop in the box. I am literally sick of "here's your precious cable" in the box while everything else you need to buy and have some more cardboard boxes around because that's environmental friendly. Sony went even further decided to give you just a phone with couple of papers which is absolutely ridiculous.
