I was a Samsung user from s7 -s21 and bought a Sony Xperia 1 iii for a change last year. A lot to love about the Sony 4k screen, no selfie hole punch and amazing camera tech (which I rarely used to full potential)but the size of the phone began to make me want a smaller screen/phone again. Also the battery life of the Sony was not the best, around 3hrs SOT. All of the budget phones seem to be massive 6.6 -6.8" screens so started looking for a second s23. None at a reasonable price so got a new open box s24 256gb for £570. Love being back with Samsung. The software is the best android implementation and being able to use dex whilst travelling and the 6-7 hrs SOT means all day use and more. So killer feature for me is compact size flagship.

I've personally never found the battery to be an issue on the smaller models. You're charging it overnight anyway, right? You've gotta use the phones very heavily to not make it through a full day. Smart decision with the 80% cap - that'll come in handy in a couple of years time

I decided that Exynos S24 was not worth paying almost a quarter more so I went with S23 at 649 euros. It has a bigger battery than my previous S22 as well as a Snapdragon processor which make it a very worthy upgrade. Now I easily get through the day without charging my phone. Also, there is a better selfie camera, the animations are buttery smooth and I can also use the new AI features. I cannot see myself using the same phone for more than 3 years so the 7-year software support was not a key feature either. All in all, I am very happy with my choice 😊

Great insight regarding the battery life in each model and each use scenario. I have one question though if you dont mind. Is the S23 that you use for the comparison brand new or already used for maybe a couple months? If the later, I wonder if brand new S23 battery will caught up with S24 in heavy tasks since S23 is already more efficient in standby battery life and catching up in day to day use compared to S24 in your video. Using my Cream S23 since April 2023. Im so glad I bought the last great Samsung compact flagship. With the size increase, switch to Exynos and all useful AI features coming to the S23, not changing phones atleast until 2026. Hopefully, Exynos will have improved by then. Because even on my friends' Pixels, they are the absolute shits😂. I mean, imagine having network connectivity problems on flagship phones in 2024.To say nothing of the heating and slow charging.Ridiculous 😢

Question towards Samsung. Is it possible to supply a non reflective screen protector rather than a full screen? To enable for All Samsung devices.
@dylanemeraldgrey8 ай бұрын
It's less important than camera and overall performance, but won't most people use a case and screen protector, which essentially eliminates the considerations of phone color and feel during operation - and possibly the screen glare and full sun performance too?
@insidetechltd8 ай бұрын
Yes it does, but there isn't much of a difference compared to last year anyway for those things. You'll still feel a difference with the Plus vs S24 or Ultra vs S24 though. The S24 series improved brightness means you get better outdoor/sun performance, even if you use a screen protector. But the Ultra does not have the anti-glare advantage if you use a screen protector that isn't samsung's anti-reflective one (I showed this in the Ultra review)
@dylanemeraldgrey8 ай бұрын
@@insidetechltd Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize they provided their own screen protector. Well, my note 9 is almost impossible to see in the sun with or without a screen protector, so I'm hoping whatever I upgrade to next will be much better than the note 9... I'm also surprised at how bad it is with photos, so hoping Samsung has improved there as well...Anyway, thanks again for the reply and the videos. I get tired just thinking about all of the work that goes into making them. 😉 - Cheers
@insidetechltd8 ай бұрын
Their own protector is expensive and only film (not glass), so it has trade offs, but it does let you keep the anti-reflective advantage. The higher brightness still lets you see a lot better in the sun though vs older phones! Haha thank you, I certainly get tired making these 😅 But the nice comments make it worth it! 👊🏼

Now m stuck. I don't want the bigger Ultra model but I can't by my favourite formfactor The Plus cause of its stitty processor which isn't a good long-term investment 🙄😒 It's the Samsung Corporate shitty greed tactics to FORCE the plus customer to buy the Ultra. I'm getting both S23 and S24 at the same price here. I could get a 6k INR difference if purchased from some other websites. So virtually, not much of a steal deal in buying S23. I mainly keep my phone on LTE while working, use it for calls, stream OTT on Wifi and take pictures/videos (not a daily activity). Would you still recommend a S23?

I think I'm getting the S24 (upgrading from S10) because the camera is the most important feature for me, and although S23 certainly does better in some situations, overall I like more of the look of the pictures taken with S24. I prefer a natural look as I take a lot of scenery pictures in nature. My sister has the S23 and I really wasn't a fan of the sharpening effect. My S10 also has an Exynos and never had any issues with it, but it is a shame cause I saw that the snapdragon version of S24 takes even better pictures :/ Thanks for the very detailed and helpful comparison video!

I don't think importing is ever worth it. The type of person to really notice and care enough about the difference between snapdragon/exynos will be getting the newest, latest phones every year. If you're asking the question, I don't think it'll be worth it. Stick with the exynos one (which you'll get better support for too if bought locally)
