Hi, thanks for posting your video. I've managed to do this on my wife's scooter today. It's a horrible job. From what I can see you never undid the two fixings that are concealed behind the plastic lock ring. One is an Allen key and the one on the back is like a metal sleeve that is knocked in. I just drilled that out. Then I heated the joint up to soften the glue and I smashed heck out it. After 2 or 3 minutes it came out. After filing down the burr on the inside of the pole I tried to put the new one in, that was almost as hard as getting the old one out I ended up using a farm jack and pressing it in. The long and short of it is that if the money to buy a new pole isn't a lot to you then just buy it. It is possible to do but not fun and almost impossible to do without scratching and scuffing the pole. Hope this helps someone 👍🏼 Thanks again for taking the time to post your video

Yes I agree, it's a very difficult job. I just did it today, the folding mechanism is a pain to remove, takes alot of heat and brutal hammering. Get a new pole if you want the convenience.

Currently going through this, I’m glad there’s someone out here who’s posted an actual full version of this process instead of 5 minute video without showing them struggling to take these puzzle pieces apart!

I did the same as you. bought the folding mechanism, dismantled the broken one and tried unsuccessfully to remove the pole in order to re-use it with the new folding mechanism. Unfortunately I can't return the folding mechanism since I bought it two months ago. I found out from your video about the glue. luckily didn't wasted too much physical energy :-)) . I've ordered a new pole with the folding mechanism. However I'll try to use a hot air gun to burn that glue, but I guess that the aluminum will became frail same way as steel after you burn it red hot.

I was hoping this video would be my savior but it looks like you did the same thing I did lol. I order the new tube and stem an hour before finding this

It does have glue. We did exactly what you did, adding the heating gun like you suggested and it worked. Thank you!

How long did it take to heat it up before it came off

I’ve tried the heat gun for several minutes then tried to hammer it off and it won’t budge. How long did you heat it up for?

These scooters cost a fortune to keep on the road.Three punctures then bought solids..hard to swap. Then fitted new motor... Now folding pole and can't get it off like yourself Going to try vice and heat gun route Not easy to keep servicing
