I still can't get over just how steady the footage is on drones, including this one. I'd never know there was any wind if it weren't for the noise and your comments. Btw, keep the commentary going. It's much better than cheesy music or wind noise! Great reviews my friend, watched this start to finish and I particularly enjoy your reviews in the long format. You don't just skip by alot of the details that most reviewers miss. Especially, the more rare Chinese phones not often found in Canada that interest me in particular. Keep up the great work!

Yes it's steady, not perfect there was some wobble, but really good considering how high it was, the light wind and the 4 rotors moving etc. In the end I decided that commentary of what I was doing and feedback of what it was like was better, this is the way I would have liked it myself if watching a review like this. I'll see if I can get the hang of it and later edit up a highlights clip showing off the area where I live.

You should see 2-3 years ago what people had to do to get that quality of footage, like mounting huge cameras in huge gimbals in huge multirotors that costed a fortune. Right now any of this quads outperform these big platforms. About the wobble, Chris I have flown in very strong winds and the shaking is almost imperceptible I was a little surprised watching how yours shaked. it should be more like: 21:30 , instead of 18:50 Good video man !

lets be honest....its a awesome drone for that price.....€425 dont even get you a dji spark witch is only 1080p with 15min flytime so, good choice Chris...tumbs up but i have also couple of questions... * is this the footage straight from the drone or did you color correct it in post-edit ? * did you have to pay extra custom/duty-fees to import it ?

always catch it by hand when landing. its so much easier. just grab one of the landing foot :) enjoy droning :)

Looks like a nice quadcopter for that price. Generally your antennae should be perpendicular to each other and at a 45 degree angle. As someone mentioned you could try calibrating your gimbal and don't forget to calibrate the gps it will help with return to home should you loose rc signal. Manual landing is probably the hardest to master so 👍 on that. You should try to find a better level spot to launch from and trust the auto land and take off. That is what the sensors are for on the bottom. Video footage looks reasonable. Only down side i see so far is the charging times for the battery. You should watch as many tutorial videos regardless if it's dji Autel or xiaomi. Lastly can't wait to see some amazing videos. Such beautiful scenery in Spain. Fly safe mate.

Was quite stressful, didn't want to loose it but once flying I was good and felt confident after the controls seemed easy and like a quadcopter. I will I need to be out of the beginner mode with full speed to chase boats!

Are the camera video and the app video just not synced very well, or is that a true representation of the lag? EDIT: Oh, I see, it gets even more lagged as the video goes along, so It's just not synced.

Don't know about their Drones but their action camera the Yi 4K+ is much much better that a gopro hero 5. Also when buying from gearbest make sure you select the international version if you need English.

the video is in 4K, so should be exactly the same as the Phantom series. Are you sure you were viewing the footage on a 4K screen or monitor? nice views though and good review

Presumably, if you wanted to fly it higher and still stay within the regulations you could just start from a higher point. Seems that the maximum altitude is not set from sea level but from the height of the controller. There doesn't seem to be any restriction on how low you can go below your position.

To stay within the regulations you still need to make sure you do not exceed 120m Above Ground Level. That can be tricky flying downhill since the displayed height is Above Take Off point. And you risk falling foul by using the Return to Home function, as it automatically ascends to a level above ATO.

Love this drone, my DJI Mavic hasn't been in the air since my Mi arrived, so easy to set up and get in the air. A lot of those features are coming, with firmware updates. I've tried the dongle and then a tether between the transmitter and phone, I really didn't notice a difference in performance between the 2 options. When installing the gimbal you don't have to pull the clip back, just push down and the gimbal will automatically clip in. Which tablet will you be using to process the drone video? You did Awesome and perfect Landing.

Well, it can do 1080p 100fps the Spark can't do the high FPS. And the Spark has a 2 Axis gimbal, this has 3. I don't have one so can't compare them.

the live feed delay you had was probably because you had problems with the connection. try flying from open spaces, not below trees or building which can interfere with your reception.

Also - make sure the anteneas are faced to where your drone would be, atleast the direction. keep em facing upwards. just some things which really helped me with flying my DJI Phantom 3. (i do get tho that you dont have the automated systems i have, but for that price and 4K Res which is nice i get that this drone's worth it.)

Tho you can buy a phantom 3 standart for just about 400$ like i did. (refurbished ofcourse, but its DJI who refurbishes it as much as i know and it comes like brand new.) but then you wont be getting 4K (not legit 4k. you can still upscale it to 4K res but wont be as good as this i think.)

Cool, it's 2021, I took my Mi Drone out the box after a long time of not using it..want to update the app on my phone but it is not possible - I can't find it in the Google Store.. the one on the Apple Store is outdated and Xiaomi no longer sells Mi Drone 4k. It turns out it is now sold by Fimi, but still there is no software to be found not even on their (barely working) website. On top of that there is not a single article or video mentioning that drone that is newer than 2018... what a bummer. I guess I will now pay for the lower (but still now LOW) price with owning a deprecated device!

thatchinaboi the horizon levels out after the first flight. it got a lot better later in the video. no nd filters are available up to now. this I is due to the gimbal design, it's next to impossible to attach filters in a non-invasive way. quite a deal breaker, but I have figured out a way: get phantom nd filters with their own screw mount. glue the mount to the gimbal and then screw on an nd filter when you need it. will make a video on that

Have you calibrated the gimbal? Ocasionally the horizon loose the horizontality. After the latest gimbal update it is less usual, but sometimes still happens. However, in your video the issue is there even before take off. That makes me think a calibration could improve the situation.

TechTablets.com. If you had the gimbal conected when started the app you should have updated to latest version of firmware. I think the horizon issue in my videos is less noticeable (you can check it). That's why I recomend you to calibrate the gimbal

Great video, but you are a braver man than me - going out over the sea on a first flight? I've only been flying a few months (debating whether to buy one of these puppies for my fleet!), but I get very nervous if my quad gets high, or going over anything which would make retrieval difficult. There will be times when it will seem to be flying away, or get caught in the wind, and the only way to save it is to make a *cough* 'firm' landing! At those times, you do not want to be over water, or a dense forest, or (in my case) a chained and locked high school sports stadium.

very interesting video. Did I get it right: This drone is (software) setup to be legal within EU? as as I know there has to be an integrated map with airports etc that cannot be flight over? a "follow me" function would be important for me. is this up-gradable or you know an alternative?

There are no fly zones in the map etc, but I can't test that as I'm not close to any I know of around here. The beginner mode is capped to 120m which is my legal limit. Once disabled I'm not sure if it increases or in my case, it knows I'm in Spain and limits it to 120m. Follow me would be great as I wanted this for some cool mountain biking shots, but we will have to wait for an updated version for that. Maybe a Mi Drone 2.
