I may be mistaken but I don't think the US plug is much different than the Canadian one. It should work in either country. You can get the Canadian one shipped from an LA warehouse, at least today you can.

Excellent video as usual. The gesture for full screen fpv is zoom out with two fingers. Some advices if you want to explore the range limits. Don't use the return to home feature because the speed is limited to 8 m/s as you have experienced. Just full stick forward if you lost connection and the drone is facing home or full stick backwards if you didn't. The speed is limited to 8m/s when the drone is in low battery (below 30% or 20% I don't remember). Take it into account. With the boosters you should be able to go well beyond 3 miles. But start the return at 55% battery or you will not be able to reach home again

Thanks for sharing this. Let me also say I am glad you don't take the kinds of risks I've seen other drone pilots take with their drones in terms of challenging what the settings are telling you. Great vid Dustin!! I'm very happily flying my Mi drone for about 3 months now and became a bit annoyed with the negative attention it got from several reviewers. Some of them obviously didn't pay any attention to get to learn this drone (for example, Ken Heron's only objective seems to ridicule it) even though it's all pretty easy and straight forward. Watched all of your extensive and outstanding Mi vids/reviews and can only confirm your experiences with it are simular to mine. This definitely is a great drone for a great price! Raffsy Vlog...I have one of these and I was getting perfect gimbal and pitch on the camera, the bird flys smooth as, you wont be disappointed with it either make sure that you put a decent SD card in the camera, I love mine I've only taken it 1 mile, but the footage is fantastic for 4k..anyway enjoy when yours arrives.

Very impressive. I am going to start saving to buy one of these soon. Footage is fantastic, silky smooth, well lighted and no jelly. Only wish, after seeing your great video is for the return part and if Xiaomi could add an auto picture taking from lower camera (Collision / return height estimating camera) right at the initial time of flight, say from your well contrasted yellow circular H flight path, and match it at the "Return home" time, to the GPS coordinates, to zero in a perfect landing spot, from where flight is initiated and possibly a better landing on the smooth wanted surface (To prevent propeller damage and drone fall) that though is a military type plan, is very easily possible for the current hardware, even as a firmware for the current models, that could really make some mind blowing comments, in terms of accuracy. I am sure smart Chines engineer can add this very easily and effortlessly, if they listen to me, when their drone is so well built with all the need gadget including under drone camera and sonar or even the flight path could be a two way communication for this purpose (Adding one more optional, useful gadget to buy). Anyways a great vide, great review of a great drone. All x4 in 4K! Happy careful flights.

Nice to see that they ironed out all the problems from version 1, which was an unqualified disaster. That was a huge 'black eye' that will take them some time to recover from (at least for me). Even though this has an ersatz DJI GUI, I still prefer the DJI GUI and controls on the RC. Glad you were able to get back safe, and not have to go crawling through brush/bramble on a recovery effort. Thanks for sharing. (wish WE had 67 deg temps now .. we have less than half of that .. but the sun is sort of out). Cheers.

Great range test Dustin, I have to admit I was getting a little nervous for you when the battery was around 50% and you hadn't started back home! Just a thought, maybe it was a little off the RTH spot as it goes into auto land at 15% battery, negating any final RTH position adjustments as it was landing.

Great idea for the tablet holder. I am using a cheap tri pod from BG for the Tablet with a home made sun hood from thick paper. I dont like the added weight on the transmitter. Height of the tri pod is around 1.5m for about $10.

Dustin. This was a great video and flight. I see Xiaomi has finally come into its own after ironing out the earlier bugs. It will still have to prove itself to some of the older enthusiasts that remember the "bad ole days'. I see it as a budget alternative to the cheaper dji series birds [p3 and maybe the spark]. Dustin I'm certain that wide open throttle is not the most efficient way to fly. I'm just commenting because you seemed to want to hurry back when you were worried about battery life but I believe that drained it faster. The drone even slowed itself down at a certain percentage to conserve power. Just a consideration. Great video!

Definitely the budget drone of choice for the $300-400 range, especially considering I've seen these for $340. I may even sell my Phantom 3 Standard for this, because its performance seems to be significantly better than that of the P3S.

Another good job Dustin, Just a couple of things to note, you don't have to turn the controller off in RTH to turn around, you can just YAW, you still have yaw control in RTH and gimbal as you seen. Also you comment a few times surprised that you can still use the gimbal at range, well, because you review so many it's alot to remember switching from one drone to another but if you look on the screen, ALL the way through the flight your actual RC signal strength said 'Strong' the graphics signal was at medium when it was right near you, 100ft or so, and stayed at medium until 3400ft,,,then was at 'weak' the rest of way. So, all told, very good, it does make you wonder how far it could go without boosters, I think the answer is going to be that the battery will run out first and maybe video signal,,,the RC signal looks like it will be good for alot more just stock.

I see, you purposefully wanted the drone to point it's nose at Home,,,I get it, you can't do that unless you lose RC connection and it then does it itself, which using yaw alone would be it or miss whether or not it is facing directly home. good tip thx

+Ray HSETWO right. Thinking more about it now the map is also an option. Going into the map and following the home line or at least pointing directly to the home point is another option. So I guess it's a little nit picky but I would have liked to see it face home when a manual RTH is initiated while still allowing the yaw control if desired. Maybe in a future update 👍

To be honest I am loving this drone, but there are some refinements they need to make, and then it will be up a class,,,,things like, put compass heading on the HUD, as long as you make a mental record of the heading on way out, simple subtraction of 180 gives you way home (doesn't allow for sideways drift though). 2. they also need to sort the GUI out, it is cluttered and those silly side dials take up alot of room,,I can see why they have done it, some developer has said oh, look our camera looks like an eyeball, let's now design the GUI as if we are the eyeball looking out, look at the sidebars they even are graduated similar to eye colour pattern,,,, dispense with them and just give simple intuitive overlays, with several icon buttons for various modes.,,,,,going into the menu as you mentioned to goto Atti mode is silly, especially as it is several steps too! I like the grid overlay,,,,great for centring on things and then doing a descent on them. There a few suggestions I would make for this drone as I do like it, the plastic feels good, decent quality.......Bye the way, two buttons on back of controller, 1 stops starts video, the other takes pictures, so no need to tap screen ;-)

In my area I get terrible range with the WiFi dongle. I get much better range when I tether to the transmitter. I also converted a DJI Phantom 3 Parabolic antenna to work on the Xiaomi, it helps.

Turn the quality all the up in settings. 50% was little to high for my tropical area so I went to 30 and it's perfect. You will need to take some video and adjust to what works for your environment 👍

Great video. I didn't know it could be set in ft.on the distance meter.. I should think yards would be great as well.. Beats having to convert from meters and Kilometers to miles all the time.. Dustin I know this is about another quad. I wondered if you have any tips for a upair one 2.7k 1.2 version. I didn't see a calibration for it. Its the 5.8ghz with the 7" monitor. +Big drone flyer77 Hey man. Yah that one was weird how it has no calibrate instructions. I think it uses 3DR ardupilot so no way to calibrate unless you plug into PC which I never did. That one didn't do very well for me. My FPV was wack and found out later that the cable internally was loose.

I just bought this drone, I really hope I can do all of what you did because my first drone flew away too many times and eventually broke after 3 months. I plan to do professional photography with this too. Videos for youtube, as well as awesome pictures. Can this drone return home no matter where it is?

That's great to hear! My first drone which I saw you do a video on "HG506 Challenger" is my first drone and like I said, I only was able to get 1 video and it was the one where it flew away. I got it back due to a nice cop who I talked to the same day I lost the video.

Noah Stakes I tried looking up the drone you mentioned (HG506 Challenger) and cannot find it anywhere. Must have been a short production or you misnamed it. I watched your video of it's fly away and that drone was all over the place. So shaky. I see you picked up the Xiaomi and have a lot better videos with it. Good luck and good flying.

Hi Dustin, great video and picture from the 4k looked sweet as, when I was looking at the mi drone 4k and the phantom 3 standard, I chose the mi 4k one simply for the camera, i'm so glad I went with the 4k mi drone...anyway great videos as always keep up the great work and I will be watching out for more things you try out with this drone :-) I forgot to mention I ordered that bracket that you use for the ipad it's coming on the slow boat from china lol

RC Andy Thx for your reply. I had my nomenclature wrong. I am actually looking for the large plastic clamp that Dustin mentioned he had in a previous video. You can see the clamp in this video holding the ipad. I bought a dji tablet holder that holds my tablet onto the controller. This holder attaches to the lanyard holder just below the rth button. While it does work, the disadvantage of this system is that the weight and leverage of the tablet causes the lanyard holder to loosen and the nut holding it in place comes off and is loose in the controller. I took the controller apart and reattached the nut using loctite so it wouldn’t happen again. Thanks Dustin for your excellent videos.

Why did the altitude stay at 42 feet when you flew off a mountain side and were much higher than 42 feet at a mile and and a half away??

I've always wondered if you could launch from a mountain and land and at my house if it was with in range. Maybe fly the quad out past it's point of no return and then go get it. My solo won't do that, if it loses connection it will try and come back to the launch point. Which would be bad if there was a mountain and trees in the way.

Dustin, This is an amazing drone and to think that you can buy 4 of these for the same price as one Phantom 4 Pro. WOW! I'd love to see you do a range test with the parabolic reflectors behind the antennae. Here in the UK we're limited to 500m (provided we can see it that far).
