Whoever buys this projector keep this in mind: use "electric focus" option to adjust the sharpness of the two upper corners. The recent firmware switches it back to Chinese but it's still at the same location. This is a decent projector. You don't really need to calibrate it. Just adjust the color tone to your taste. Your 1080p movies will look fantastic and much clearer than watching them on any 1080p projector out there. I use it with the silver ticket gray 92in. You can watch it in daylight as long as no direct sunlight.

Very "pricey". He is a high end/reference reviewer and calibrator. You don't ask Luciano Pavoratti (Passed away) to sing a Taylor Swift song!!!! He did do some duets with "Pop" singers and it always turned out awful. Vincent is a subtle sarcastic funny professional at what he does. Usain Bolt does not run against elementary school children, so don't ask him to do budget model televisions. This projector is a "budget" model. There are way more expensive UST projectors out there. An Oled TV is not that expensive. Try high end audio equipment if you really want "pricey".

Has anyone tried 4K Firestick yet? I bought this and thank you for the help with translation. For anyone wondering, I am using a normal “Mickey Mouse” AC cable with US plug and it works fine with zero issues. I may put a power conditioner in front but I doubt there will be issues. It is a projector so the same applies as to other projectors. You need a special UST-ALR screen to give you good image in the day time.

It's very high if this is the same projector as the Vava. Probably around 80-100 since the lag is 'noticeable' on that one.

Hold down the menu button on the right of the remote for 4 or 5 seconds and the 3D menu will pop up on the left of the screen. I have used it a couple of times and the 3D is great, if not a bit dark. I assume I can ramp up the brightness to counteract that issue.

Hello Vincent. Thank you for your reviews. I have a question about this projector, if you could please check it and include in your review: can this projector’s speakers work as center channel when connected to external speakers? What I’m trying to achieve is use Sonos amp and 2 Sonos 1 for a wireless 4.1 setup with this projector in mind. Sonos amp uses hdmi arc for input, so it would be wonderful to set this up and also get that center channel from this projector’s speakers. I know I could just use normal receiver but Sonos has some advantages like night mode and convenience of setup and using it as a music device with their app or airplay 2, and it would be a waste to not use built in speakers of this projector anyway. Also what features of HDMI 2.1 does it have? Thank you 🙏

christopher crowley nope. I did exactly what he said and emailed him multiple times until he finally responded saying that because he couldn’t see my order # on his back end (which is not my fault) he couldn’t tell me the settings. You would think he would just give it to me out of good will because I watched all his videos, subscribed to his channel and did exactly what he said but that says a lot about this guy. It was ridiculous. Some people just don’t care to help or be kind. Hopefully he’ll be able to see your order #. If he does, it would be great if you could send me the settings.

Its OK but it works better with an ALR screen or in a dark room.

The Truth. Images are still washed out during day even with a cinegrey matte screen. No Dolby Vision support. Therefore you miss out on netflix dolby vision. You must buy a very very low profile tv stand to display 110 inches and above as required by the clearance. Expect to be very near to ground to get and good comfortable screen position above 110 inches. Turn off HDR on apple tv as the projector does not process apple tv HDR well at all. Might require the $1000 PET crystal Screen if you want it anything close to being clear like an LED TV especially during day time with some light.

No HDR on projectors, though, right? So what’s the advantage, large display OLEDs have gotten affordable, large LCDs now have decent black, and HDR is a much bigger step forward than 4ak was.

On the website, " it says 5000lumen or 1500 ANSI lumens. then how does this compare with other projectors who spec ANSI on all their spec sheets? when comparing ANSI this projector isn't that good at all! Also 3000:1 contrast is very low when even compared to non laser projectors! Website: "Light source brightness 5000 lumens screen brightness 1500 ANSI lumens" What I would love to know is how this projector compares to the big brands in terms of their specs as the specs listed for the Xiaomi seem off!

I just received it 2 days ago. This is my first UST projector. I am quite disappointed with it. I am not sure if all the UST projectors in this price range suffer from the same lack of settings, but: mine does not do 4k@60hz, only worked @50hz with a 0.5 meters long cable. 4k@60hz with that cable caused flickering. The projector with a 2 meters cable only does 4k@30 hz. It has absolutely no zoom to help you out and the electric focus does work up and down. (the upper part will always be less focused). *Later edit: Xbox/PS4 work with 4k@60hz (tested both) but I don`t think they do Chroma 4:4:4 but 4:2:2. From the laptop, I could reach 4k@55hz (custom resolution) with some minor flickering (I think the laptop pushes/forces the projector to go Chroma 4:4:4.). I am not sure but I think an nVidia Shield might help, or those HDFury adaptors.. In theory you could achieve good results. *Now, input lag is a different matter... but if you need 4k what is the alternative? Kind of nothing... if space/price matter for you.

I’m pretty sure he would recommend the 77” OLED. Hell the new C9 is awesome. 8K is not worth buying right now especially considering how much content is still 720p like broadcast cable and sat. In 4-5 years it will be different when 4K broadcast is a thing. Wait for ATSC 3.0 if you live in America. HDMI 2.1 is only half of the equation.

lecorsaire Thanks for your advice. The thing is, I have absolutely everything Sony. The new PlayStation is going to be 8K. Plus, the TV comes with a five year warranty so I won’t be changing it for at least five years. I also have the Sony 4K HDR Blu-ray player with a large collection of UHDBDs, Apple TV 4K HDR… I don’t watch broadcast TV and I live in the UK. I don’t want the decision to be swayed by money at all, purely upon picture quality on the biggest possible Sony screen (excluding the 98 inch which is listed at a crazy £70,000). I guess a simple question is whether full array local dimming on the 85 inch is considerably worse than OLED on the 77 or has FALD technology caught up?

Johnny Darko It’s actually not. It will be able to upscale output to an 8K TV but no games, movies or TV shows will actually be 8K. It’s just like how the OG PS4 and One S can upscale to 4K but they cannot render at 4K and that’s a big difference. The PS5 will try to target 4K60p but will actually be 4K30p with most games. No Hollywood movie has an 8K DI. Most are 2K DI upscaled to 4K and some are native 4K. There is no 8K Blu-ray in the way at all. Not now and not in 5 years either. You still need at least a GTX1080ti for smooth 4K60p. That GPU is still $700 at least. The AMD APU Sony and MS will use will be much weaker. It will be more powerful than the One X but not a huge difference. In case you don’t believe me. Here’s a video showing two 1080ti’s running in SLI for 8K. That’s $2000 just in GPUs without the octa core Intel i7 or i9 and the at least 32 GB DDR4 RAM. And the NVMe SSD. This is like $4000 total! No $400-500 console will be able to do this for a decade. Johnny Darko FALD will never produce pure black. On OLED the black is black just as if the TV is off and not dark grey. I would go with Sony A9F or A9G whenever it comes out if the best contrast possible is more important to you than a brighter screen. If you watch movies in the dark OLED is the only way to go.

it doesn't appear that this projector can use internal apps (youtube, netlix, or any other) to stream 4k hdr, instead the gui and any streaming app is capped at 1080p.... in order to get 4k hdr you need to supply a feed from an external source (bluray player, htpc, nvidia shield, etc.) via an hdmi input... do i have this right? if so, isn't that pretty weak, i mean why have a tv launcher app installed on a 4k hdr projector if internal apps can't be streamed in 4k hdr?

Hi I just bought the projector and I have four main problems: 1) my eyes are burning after 10/15mins that I watch it. When I stop to watch it i see little white spots everywhere (like when you watch the sun and it takes awhile before you can see again clearly) 2) the fan is pretty loud and there's a constant whistle as soon as the projector starts. When the input is HD and not 4k probably because of the upscaling after 2/3 mins the fan become so loud that u almost can't hear the voice of the film. 3) Connected to Apple TV when I watch a film Audio and Video are not at sync. Audio is almost half a second delayed 4) connected to a PS4 it seems delayed and after a while i feel nausea playing (my previous HD projector didn't do that effect at all) Any advice? Thanks

Yes, it comes with an adapter plug if you choose your country. I just happen to have a Mic key mouse power cord that I saved from a printer and it works great. You don't need a converter to convert the voltage to use it on 110V.

@@shukuraltay6781 what i find interesting is that most (all?) other very similar ultra short throw 4k laser projectors (jmgo, lg hu85la, vava, dell s718ql) are equipped with 100-240v power supplies, so why would xiaomi/wemax opt for a 200-240v power supply? is it that the 200-240v ps are a cheaper option? do the other companies have the foresight to include a power supply that will work in different global regions but xiaomi doesn't? none of this seems likely... moreover if you go to the avsforum, several u.s. owners of this projector have compared using a 240v step-up to just their 120v power outlet and they see no performance difference at all, they say the projector runs the same... if the projector really required 240v, it would seem that something wouldn't function properly using a 120v outlet, like brightness, fans, etc... could it be that spec for the power supply is wrong, and like all other ust 4 laser projectors, the xiaomi/wemax projectors are aslo using 100-240v power supplies?

@@shukuraltay6781 are you saying this because you tried it with 120v and it didn't work properly or didn't power up? or are you saying it because the spec sheet says the power supply is 200-240? i ask because it seems that more than a few u.s. owners of this pj are using it with 120v power and aren't having any problems at all, some have even used a 240v step-up at first but stopped and went straight to their 120v outlets because they didn't like the heat, size and space the step-up took up. moreover it seems that most/all of these type of ust 4k laser projectors (jmgo, lg hu85la, vava, dell s718ql, etc.) use 100-240v power supplies except for the xiaomi/wemax projectors, so i'm wonder if xiaomi just record the power supply spec correctly?

I'm waiting for the review of this over the previous two less than terrific models before I buy it. (Ultra Short Throw Projectors should be the future) The review of this "budget" UST might not come. Vincent doesn't and shouldn't ever do budget models. (Even though I'd like to see this reviewed by an UP.....That's short for Vincent is an ULTRA PROFESSIONAL)

Not convinced with this review. Could have been a demo with testing, discuss the quality of the PJ, keep your settings secret of-course but at-least say if the PJ is Good, Decent, Rubbish without sponsored/affiliate bias.
