Mine pushes my model around with great authority, the model is 24lb dry. The 1.8litre tank gives around 5 minutes of flight time with just enough for a go around if I need it. Fantastic engines.

Oh wow! 1.8L tank? That’s great Paul!
@Hunterboy01 Жыл бұрын
@@thelightersideofrc it’s the HSD 1.8 Metre composite SuperViper. I’ve considered buddying up the 1.4litre smoke tank as fuel instead of smoke oil to extend flight times some. My Xcalibur with the 100 has the stock 2.9 litre tank and can stay in the air much longer.
@thelightersideofrc Жыл бұрын
Thought it was something like that Paul. If you don’t fly often with smoke that sounds like a perfect idea!

Great review!👍 One littel thing. I think in case of the xicoy, the data is stored in the Ecu (DRM). The reason for that is that if you have one Turbine and a second installation pack, you can have two different ecu's with maybe different settings (max. rpm. etc.) Gaspar thought of that and stores the data in the ecu with this reason....
@Daniel.Cedervall Жыл бұрын
No, that is not accurate. All data is stored in the ECU that's under the front cover of the turbine. What you guys call DRM, in xicoy language HUB, only works like a connection hub for the pump/telemetry adapter/turbine etc..

Watching jet engines start and run never gets old! What size tank / tanks will the F-4 have?
@thelightersideofrc Жыл бұрын
HAHA. No kidding Bert! I feel the same way. Always makes me smile! The F4 stock comes with 2 saddles and the main. I believe the total capacity will be 6 L. Now, not sure if the twin will have a different fuel setup. It's going to be interesting to have a single and twin built at the same time. So for twin 120's that's alot of fuel capacity. We may split the main tank and add in a smoke tank baffle into the mix. Will be an interesting build as there is alot of equipment to pack into a fairly small aircraft.

Wow that engine Guzzled up that fuel really fast! having never own or flown a jet powered plane i had no idea they are so thirsty at full throttle.
@thelightersideofrc Жыл бұрын
Yea they go through alot of fuel above 95% throttle. A couple thousand rpm at the upper limit also makes a huge difference in thrust figures.

The light version that box is a just a hub the compact version(this version) is a hub/GCU. The 120 is my favorite of the line so far, I will be fly 180s soon and then the 225 so that may change.

So the "Light" verson doesn't need the ECU box to be mounted in the plane correct? Thus saving that additional weight once it's been programmed and removed? (Unlike this standard compact version)
@Dragonrc. Жыл бұрын
@@fern6978 No the GCU can be removed it only needs to be in if you would like to use the playback feature.

Great video, I'm not understanding the outside air temp tie. From my private flying days our engines always ran better on cold days because of the denser air, but even with that once you are inside the density would match the inside temp. Altitude makes a difference since the pressure is the same inside and out. Am I missing something? Thanks for the great videos.
@thelightersideofrc Жыл бұрын
Hello Todd. People constantly complain on the turbine test videos that my measured output doesn't match what the turbine is supposed to produce. I am not an expert on DA but. 1. We are at 3200 ft ASL. All reported figures from manufactures are at sea level at 15 C. So at 3200 ft ASL at 15C we will see about a 5-10% Reduction. 2. As temp increases our DA also increases which effects the output. When it's 30 C we will see a larger decrease in thrust values closer to 20% +- 3. If I was to test a turbine on a day like today, its currently -24C here I can get figures above the rated output. At 3200ft ASL out DA can be in the negatives when it's this cold. So when I do the test it may be cold outside but warm in the shop but we open the big door to test so it's the outside air that really matters.

Any preference on turbines? Xicoy vs Swiwin vs Kingtech and why?
@thelightersideofrc10 ай бұрын
Swiwin because they are affordable, availiable and work great! Xicoy because they are Jewels! They are more expensive and there can be a huge wait to get one but they are nice.

The downsized engines burns about 20-25 % more fuel than larger designs, due to the higher aerodynamic loses, and lower efficiency. It's great design but there is a wall that is not worth to downsize engines anymore. From my experience engine up to 100 mm in diameter up to 7-8 [daN], the peak of performance vs efficiency Wren 70 higher than that as this size is "pumping fuel". It is like old russian AL-21F3 has better fuel efficiency than Snecma M53 and that is against "theory" that turbofan is more efficient than turbojet.
