Ive been meaning to replay this for 17 years now. I remember loving the gunplay and rage quitting at the stealth. But now I know I can charge through it which is what I normally enjoy, aggresive stealth. 🙃 Buuuuuut with another 17 years of control and design evolution I wont be surprised if it doesnt hold up to my memories.

XIII 2 was made ;) it was only released on mobile phones at the time. You find footage of it online.

With nearly every shooter where you fight human opponents, it doesn’t matter what guns you use. I don’t see why this is a big problem.

I don't know why i post this comment after 2.5 years, but i just want to say that it's a good XIII review. Honestly, I love XIII for its comic book roots, but i hate it even more. *Firstly* - i hate that checkpoint system. What, your grappling hook is kinda broke down, and you have fall to your death? Bad luck, try again, pal...Just replay those last 20 minutes, not a big deal right? *Secondly* - there's no interesting gameplay in gunfights at all. You just put a bullet in each one of some bad guys, take damage, and then just use a medkit to recover. In this game, stealth is more interesting than gunfights, because SSH2 and Submarine levels was more interesting that the rest of the game. I've always liked shooters like Max Payne, where you need to avoid damage, rather than just run alll guns blazing, and then regain your health with a medkit when everyone is dead. *Thirdly* - most of the guns just sucks in my opinion, which is real bad for a first person shooter like this. Frag grenades just *WORST* than in any other first person shooter i ever played, shotguns is useless, and 9mm pistol can't even put a guy in the grave when you take a headshot! *Fourthly* - i beat the game on PC, and you can't play this game with an original FOV in widescreen resolution, and it sucks. I tried many of good old PS2-era games with a widescreen fixes, and i can't even remember them to look *THAT* incredibly good! Unfortunately, XIII is uninvited guest at this party...So, you can't play with screen resolution larger than 1280x960. It's a good game with a strong *0/10* in the aspect of replayability. i'd love to hear your opinion, based on all of the above.

​@@ErbBetaPatched Thanks! I'm glad you read this comment. It feels like XIII was supposed to be something bigger than some passable first person shooter with a stylish comic book visual. And also, it feels like wasted potential in some ways. Shame.
