Both of the crew were injured. One of them was in the Hospital in Miami in an induced coma. Last we heard he was stable and improving and expected to make a full recovery.

That was a different boat and accident. We are praying for the boys involved in that accident you are referring to. The X boat that flipped. The throttleman Grant Bruggemann and Driver Randy Kent walked away from. Grant actually got in a boat after this and raced.

My opinion after 60 years of running $10,000 powerboats = grey boat throttleman lifted in time & white boat didn't. Look at 4:50 video. DF Young boat started up as well.

The XInsurance helicopter missed filming it... You can hear the helicopter crew yelling about it. The DF Young boat almost blew over too! Look at the 4:50 mark of the video. Yikes!

This type of accident tends to happen often when 2 tunnel hull (catamaran) boats get too close to each other. It's seen in F1 boat racing as well. Maybe there should be a rule that you can't get too close (like within 10 feet) in offshore racing. Sure, it wouldn't be exciting but it's not worth risking racers lives, imo. Glad the throttleman and driver were ok.

pretty sure they don't insure the boats or the driver and T-man. it's just b.s. insurance.
