I just saw them live in Tampa and they thanked us for coming out even with the hurricane barreling towards us lol. Jamie has such an amazing stage presence and Angela does such an amazing job on the darker songs they play. I’ve been wanting to see them for years now and I wasn’t gonna let storm prep stop me

Yay!! Glad you enjoyed it, Xiu Xiu is such a unique and special band. Most of their albums I think are great but "Plays the Music of Twin Peaks" is a true masterpiece in my opinion. It's everything I love about Xiu Xiu in one album but with a stronger focus on the instrumentals with numerous tracks being purely instrumental with vast structures that take you on crazy sonic journies. The singing is also pretty varied. And the song "Falling" I think is Xiu Xiu's greatest achievement, a towering song.

Xiu Xiu has a lot of sounds, GWBOF of fruit was one of them, this is another one! Very diverse band :3

Everyone is already telling you to listen to A Promise but honestly all of Xiu Xiu’s first three albums are fantastic, definitely my favorite era of their career. Those albums are definitely experimental and uniquely Xiu Xiu, but they’ve also got a heavy dose of early 2000s angst and emotionally charged-ness that I just love so much.

This is in my top 5 albums of the year! You definitely should listen to A Promise, and Fabulous Muscles. But if you want something more accessible then Forget is another great one to check out. Xiu Xiu is an amazing band.

Awesome album, I saw on AOTY that you already listened to The New Sound, will there be a reaction video on it?

you should definitely check out "Forget" and "The Air Force," two of their other catchiest and more accessible records.

Since it's the spooky season you should react to Enter The Slasher House by Avey Tares Slasher Flicks, it's a very Halloween themed album that I feel you'd enjoy since you like AnCo

Compared to GWBOF this album is damn near uplifting (on its own merits it is still very odd and creepy but very good)

I'd pitch in to get you some new headphones. Enjoy watching you experience so many albums for the first time and loving it. A used pair of HD650's or something can be found for $200-300. I'd want to pay for you to have them if I had extra money. Love how much you enjoy music, and I'd love to see you have that. Some of my most memorable moments were listening were through those, and it absolutely makes a difference. Especially when listening to so many great albums. Anyone down to pitch, I'd be good for $100. He'd just need an old Xonar STX or some external amp for the sound levels, and he'd be good to go. Msg me if we can set this kid up. (He'd have to be on board and search for the headphones locally, and we send money to him on the promise to do it)
