Interesting, my door cards aren't loose but a couple of the cars I saw did have issues with them. Its a little interesting getting into the world of Jag videos/fixes/owners, having spent a few year messing with mx-5s/miatas, there is definitely a lot less DiY ethos among jag owners lol. Like you actually bought a new door card instead of making a new, custom one (popular on mx5s because it increases interior room by going to flat door cards, would probably look crap on the jag although the way the jag's window seals work, I think it would actually be easier on the XK than the mx-5), or doing some simple crafting to fix the retainers/clips. Either way, so far I am finding the skills I learned doing interior stuff, auto electrics, diagnosis, fabricating/making etc on the mx-5 and my Toyota pickups is proving invaluable on not breaking stuff when working on the much more expensive XKR. One trick I have learned from pulling several interiors, and been confirmed to me by a few mechanics, is that when removing door cards and interiors with plastic trim clips, it is a mistake to try to gently prize things apart, in actual fact a sudden, strong (but not too strong) jerk will usually remove fasteners cleanly without breaking them. Its counterintuitive, but since I started being a lot more violent I have broken far fewer tabs. Also, if you are doing any interior work on your car or anything that invovles removing plastic fasteners, get one of those big fastener selection boxes (2000s ford and GM style ones are a good fit on these cars for the most part) with 2-300 assorted pieces from amazon for like $20, and you will rarely be lacking a workable replacement fastener when you do break things, and 20 year old plastics will break. I just replace when I break clips, no biggie. Every used car Ive bought Ive gone round and replaced broken/weak/missing clips and it makes a huge difference to the random knocks, rattles and creaks you get from older cars.

Thanks for the comment Iain. I wouldn't mind getting an MX5 to play around with one day. I agree that sometime a little less finesse when removing panels works well. The door card plastics are a particular area of weakness and would likely shatter as some already had. Great tip for replacing fasteners. Cheers !!

John, I've got these screws in the end of the door cards too. Probably a standard Jaguar rework. Looks like you've got aftermarket speakers ? Nice video regards Damian

Thanks Damian. I think you are probably correct about the rework. Although the holes were in different places on each door card. It was quite a lot of work to swap everything over as you will see in part 2. I fitted the speakers last year when I upgraded the radio. I had to make adapters to take the bigger size. It seems I don't like thongs to be to easy
