Binge watching Student Of The Gun today. As a little senior lady who is really good with a pistol but nothing else, I enjoy getting an education about these wonderful rifles. Thank you, SOTG!

That's a nice build you have there. I'd love to do a clone one day.

Professor, how about talking about the Stoner 63; this was the modular weapons systems that could be fed by the box magazines, or belt fed and the barrels could also be changed out quickly as well. These were used by the U.D.T. Seals.

And the E1, due to a different buffer, actually ha a slightly higher cyclic rate than the later M16A1. Thanks for the video.

Great video. The only issue I have is that original XM16E1's did not have any 'polymer". The stock, handguard, and grip were made from composite materials.

Sgt maj Plumly went on record before Ia Drang valley stating he hate that plastic gun & stuck to the 45 even at the peak of the battle

Draw back to the M16 was the caliber, many vets proclaim its lack of stopping power compared to the 7.62 or M14. We were still debating that in Desert Storm when I was in, then again in the GWOT.
