All three eras we saw Apocalypse are actually 3 distinct stories in the comics that were told at different times. As far as Age of Apocalypse, we could revisit the animated AOA world that inspired the comics, the AOA where Wolverine and Storm are lovers. It was highlighted in the early credits as well

Kang was actually teased in the original X-Men series, he appears as Immortus at the end of Beyond Good and Evil but they never paid it off.

I think Season 2 will be half Apocalypse and the other half Onslaught. It seems as Apocalypse storyline happens they can slowly lead into Onslaught for the finale. Also I wonder why Beau DeMayo was fired, makes you wonder despite the show's success what happened to have Marvel not even consider bringing him back.

I loved the original series, but I didn't read any of the comics when I was younger. I've been catching up on all the great story lines by googling and reading the wikipedia for them. Keep that in mind. Now, if Woverine does NOT become one of the horsemen, then how does he get his adamantium back? I think he almost has to for that reason alone. I'm actually starting to wonder if all of the orsemen will be members of the X-men? I both think and hope season 2 is dedicated to Apocalypse by himself. There's essentially going to be three different stories unfolding all season long. I don't know if you can resolve everything you'd need to in the past, present and future with 2 episodes each and then that would only give you four episodes for something else? The only way that would work is with a four part season finale in the present that also involves apocalypse. I think Onslaught is season three. Doesn't Bastian at some point become Nimrod?

Written differently, this could easily been connected to the MCU. But I’m glad it’s not. It’s its own thing and should be its own thing. Let the animation be its own universe. Now, they could cross it with What If, but even then that could be a stretch. Either way it’s fine. I’m still going to watch it.
