I just built this on Xbox- everything in this video still works. I'm sure this will work for rexes and haven't tested it with a giga, but FYI anyone building this raft any storage structures placed by the driving area will be hit and demolished by trapped dinos- you need to put these as far back towards the ramp as possible. Additionally, Spino's do fit in these, but its very difficult to get them to fall in. I open up all the dino gates, kite the spino on top of the trap and fly around it so it rotates and falls in at just the right angle. Awesome raft to use!

Great Build. Not as indestructible when made of stone. I build it vanilla style. no cheats. I went for a boat ride West of Herby-Island. 1.5 minutes later I Took two Hits from a lvl 1 Alpha Leedsichthys. All was destroyed(including me). :) The official ARK Wiki said it cant damage stone , but believe me.. it can.

If they are in range of a raft they always hit, whether imbedded in stone or metal. Alpha Leeds are absurd, we've seen 5 alphas and 2 normal ones all together east of herb turned them to mosa food but it's the hot spot for them there.

again, your builds are world class man. ive been doing iterations of your motorboat builds in raft but now im getting good black pearl with a shark that i caught with ... your raft lol. oddest thing happened though - last night i finished this build on a motorboat, grinded for a bit for the x2, then came back to find the first 4 foundations missing!! just completely gone - everything else intact. i make plans to replace them this morning only to find that they have been replaced?! i do have 2 tribemates but they were not on nor would they do a weird thing like this. not a big deal cos everythings back to normal but have you heard of this before? i am on PC playing official cluster and this was on the island map.

Pro tip: You can lay a fence foundation in before you place the pillar, lined up right in front of where it's supposed to go. This will allow you to sink foundations without using a ton of pillars.

I'm having a problem (on PC). Everything works like magic except for the ladder. I've played the video frame by frame and I have verified that my hatchframe placed exactly the same as yours (there's a little bit of light showing between the hatchframe and the foundations, as is visible at your 8:05 mark) and my ladder is pulled out the same distance from the foundation (as is visible at your 9:09 mark), which means that I placed the pillars, ceilings and flipped-wall properly. But in spite of the fact that everything looks identical to your video I can't climb the ladder to the deck, it keeps on dumping me back into the water. The workaround I'm using at the moment is that I can snap a second ladder upwards, which takes me past the hatchfram and I can climb out, but of course this make the above-water taming pen less useful because larger animals can use that ladder as a step and get out of the pen. This means that I have to keep adding and removing the second ladder depending on whether I'm doing a land or water tame (and it's a bit of a pain to get that 2nd ladder to attach properly because of multiple competing snap points at that location). Do you know if something has changed that would cause the ladder to fail?

Of course I figured it out almost immediately after posting the question. When I put in the first pillar running downwards from the foundations, the first pillar went to a lower snap point and it needs to be on the higher snap point. If you build the pillars + ceilings + wall from the lower pillar snap point that creates too much of a gap between the top of the ladder and the hatchframe, and that gap allows the hatchframe to push you back into the water.

@@Articulate99 Thanks, I would never have figured this out. After making sure the 1st pillar was at the higher snap point, the ladder worked, but just barely (a catch at the top). I added another thatch roof and put a 2nd ladder on the opposite side of the hatchframe from the 1st and it works a bit more smoothly without a "catch" at the top. Not sure what would have happened if I had tried building out in that direction from the lower snap point pillar but I'm thinking it may have had a catch but still worked, since it seems slightly further away from the frame.

I made an identical metal raft and I guess it doesn't work anymore the giga just walked over the top 4 or 5 times and didn't fall in but it still works great for everything else.

PC local: Cant place the very first (thatch)Foundation after the initial lowering step. The thatch foundation is red when i try to place it level to the boats surface stating "is obstructed". Anyways awesome raft - thumbs up

Awesome high quality design, I just wish I could've made it nicer with mods. I spent an hour making the base 4x4 with vanilla snap points and getting it changed over to S+ glass, only to realize that for some dumb reason the S+ foundations don't extend the foundation support beyond that. :/

Don't appear to be able to build under the motorboat on official. I can snap the pillars to foundations underneath but when I attempt to snap the thatch ceiling to them it keeps telling me its blocked. Any ideas?

I'm gonna have to make this now that there is no tame limit. Did they remove the snap-points on the large hatchframe on the inside or do you have to place the ladder before the door because our treehouse had a ladder going through the large hatchframe for roof access.

Do you normally use the keypad to close your hatch's and dino gates? That would be a lot easier and way less risk of getting killed or having the dino slip out. :)

Great vid... just one comment, why on earth dont you just use the keypad to close the buttom (underwater) giant hatch when trapping water dinos ? and open the inner giant trapdoor when trying to get wild gigas out for that matter...

fair point about closing, but keypads change the direction they open, giant hatchframes open downwards when using a keypad making it harder to trap and cant get the dinos out.

See my latest video on the patch and its workarounds, you need to lower it twice over the rudder now and theres another method for floating the lower foundation as well, the latest patch broke a lot of things but it can still be made.

Sorry for the late reply, the answer is yes I just tried to build this boat and couldn't find that snap point. The solution is to build the first wall two high then ceiling on corner then two pillars down instead of one.

I had a problem with this, after I made the 4x7 with the hole in the middle and lowered foundations just like him, I just didnt add the bottom part for water creatures and I couldnt place the gates, it said something like too high above ground and no snap point and I couldnt even place walls there either, pls help

Min. 1:25 could I use this system to place a wall splitting a foundation in half? Is there a system to place walls in your base that split foundations? Example make a hallway that doesnt have to be minimum one foundation wide.

Black pearl are far more readily available now. Motorboats are in loot drops on gen 2 you can also pick them up there. They've patched this boat out though, limiting Dino gates to 2.

Hello, thanks for this amazing build and the great video tut. I’m new at Ark, yesterday i tryed to rebuild this boat. I used the raft and stone materials, but if i want to place the dinogates, at the back and left/right side rear i can’t place it and get the message its to high over the foundation. Did i something wrong or is it changed at a update? I also don’t build the underwater cage because i think i don’t have enough blocks and get the message you reached the maximum allowed blocks. With stone on a raft you have to use a 3x6 foundation, is that what you used? and no you cant place the underwater pen on the raft as well it has to be a separate raft like my "shark cage".

xONEWINGx not entirely true. I was able to replicate the upper part of the design on a raft, including the gate on the floor. The key is to use a fence foundation for each Dino gate. So I put two fence foundations on each back corner to snap the back four gates, and went ahead and used two more fence foundations for the front most gates that attach to the ramp. Doing that allowed me to use the 4x6 layout and use all four Dino gates.

Here’s a question... If you have to destroy one of the lowered inner foundations, AFTER placing all the thatch ceiling/metal foundations around... Can you replace the inner foundation at the lower snap? Is it possible? I’ve wasted a ton of resources because it keeps placing at the higher snap, despite showing it being in the lower when I hit the trigger.

yeh its possible but its competing with a lot more snap points at the higher level now, use your body to obstruct the high snap point and use the snap cycling button to find the lower one (prob oly briefly stays there).

Tried this on a private server and it gave me too many gateways error. Was wondering if that was changed on official or not because I haven't been able to find any info on that. I can easily change it to allow me to build but want to keep it as close to official as possible. Nevermind I found someone else saying they have now limited it to 2 metal gateways :(
