Ahh... Was chuffed to see you had posted a new video up, Alex. I had to go and grab a bottle of Proper Job IPA so I could enjoy it to the fullest! Great watch, the Roman and Norman coins are exceptional finds. Very interesting information about the Deus 2, these 'modern' machines are a whole new ball game compared to the 'switch-on-and-go' jobs I was using back in the day. The last machine I was using (and still have) was/is my Goldmaxx Power V. 4. I've not been able to get out for a few years now, but hope springs eternal! I like to think I'd used the GMP for enough years to know my way around it and feel confident with what I was doing. I did have the Whites DFX when it came out, but all the menu scrolling and such rather overwhelmed me! Having said that, I know some of these modern menu driven machines can far outperform my dear old GMP. I know... I'm an old Luddite! Here's wishing you and all your viewers much success at the bottom of every hole you dig👍. Oh, and give Tasci a big hug from me 🐶.

I just happened across your channel by accident but I’m so pleased I did. Very informative and entertaining. I’d just taught myself to leave the wispy signals (as I was spending too much time on them) and march on to the solid, more reliable tones. I’m going to have to rethink that strategy now 🙂 l use the manticore and the D2 master but I feel more connected to the D2 . With a bit more fine tuning of my ears I think we’re going to make a great team. Cheers for the video, going to have to catch up on your older ones now 🍻

Really interesting watching you do this. I’m about 6 weeks into owning a Deus II and have just begun to realise that I think I’ve been missing things by not bothering with ‘messy’ signals. I’d had access to a field where a lot of Roman coins had been found and I expected to at least find one or two that had been missed but found nothing. Thinking about it now - all the obvious nice clear signals had previously been dug but I should have listened more closely to the signals that I was finding. I started to do that on another field and found lots of non- iron targets that initially sounded like mainly iron so finding you doing the same was a revelation! Now I want to get back in that Roman field but suspect it has been seeded now 😢
@HolzHammerSagasАй бұрын

HS, a patinated copper coin at 14" is extraordinary. These Constantinus II seem to come up in good condition, like many of the later emperors. I wonder if the alloy was better quality, or a type less prone to corrosion.Well done on the Stephen -always hoped for one of these. PS, don't holiday in the Falklands. That is the windiest place.
@HolzHammerSagasАй бұрын
Im not sure Jeremy, the general consensus is the quality went down in the copper/bronze coins of the 4thC... maybe they are just in the ground for less time!!!! Hope all well - are you in the Falklands now??!! 😁
@jeremyholden2782Ай бұрын
@@HolzHammerSagas I know it did for the silver. The best condition Roman coins I see are usually later, with that brown patination. But it is probably just be soil type. I don't think time has much to do with it; I have found plenty of Georgian coins far more fried. Not in the Falklands now, but like Cambodia, another place it would be unwise to use a metal detector. Fabulous for birds, however.

Your enthusiasm makes me want to detect again, havnt been out for a while have deus 1 and had a farm permission that decided that they didn’t want detectorists on anymore. I have found a few nice bits and bobs, including a Celtic quarter stater and 3 Celtic silvers, hammered and a vesica seal and large finger ring that was probably worn over a glove with a medical symbol. Oh almost forgot the base part of a Bronze Age dagger that I nearly threw in the hedge as it was covered in mud and I thought it was one of those bicycle multi tool things.lol. And a sword pommel that I thought was a Victorian door knob. Dont throw anything until you take it home and check it.subed and liked,keep the content flowing and good luck.😊

I recently dug a weird signal it said iron but numbers kept going up to the copper but with my machine it could just be a ring pull but I dug it out and it was a piece of iron pipe with a narly piece of copper on one end, I don't think they would be linked just coincidence in the same hole but it was a strong iron signal deep that I'd often ignore and even though it was just a piece of copper it shows weird signals can have not just one item.
