OK well lets see... 1) I know you are a Photoshop user, and I don't expect you to change that, however it would be useful to know if the tablet works well with other popular drawing software. 2) Go through the features and usability of the driver software for the tablet. You could give your opinion on if you like it or think there should be improvements. Outside of that, I think everything you are doing now, is not only entertaining, but very insightful. I really appreciate that you have used the product for a decent period of time, to truly know what is good and bad, and not just new item excitement. Thanks as always for such an awesome video... It would be nice if you tested some of these, more technical things, out: 1. Ruler test with very slow diagonal lines to see if there's any wobble in the lines. 2. Draw very light strokes to see if the tablet can detect them or if you have to press harder (activation force). If so, that may be a bit annoying for light sketchers. 3. Do a smooth transition from black in a small area to see if there are jumps in the pressure sensitivity (I've heard it's not as good as the pen from the previous model of the same size, but that could have been due to older drivers and may be fixed now if the company updated them, I'm not sure). 4. Draw very quick lines to see if there are any fish hooks or tapering issues at the end of the lines. 5. Check if the cursor stays right under the pen when you go to the corners and sides of the monitor (in some tablets the cursor can go way off). 6. Test some of these with different programs like Krita or Clip Studio Paint. I think I'm asking a bit too much :P I guess I'm a bit picky about pen performance. Very useful review though and thanks for sharing your thoughts on the model after 3 months of use!

Yep, time to start rounding up money then. You sold it to me, can't wait to have something like this.
@Ghennesph5 жыл бұрын
So, just throwing it out there, it's not because it takes processing power to interpret the strokes in a smoother manner, it's that it needs more samples from the pen. Smoothing takes the last X samples(usually over 100/s are reported, iirc wacom is 250rps) and averages them, which eliminates sudden jumps in one direction and then another, since the average will still remain, well... average. This introduces delay because it's waiting for more samples to be sent, and it can't sample something you haven't done yet. I see things like this really often when people talk about art tablets(even some absolutely hilarious misinterpretations of the parallax effect as some kind of software problem???) but it's always good to understand precisely why a thing is the way it is, because understanding your tools can help you better to use them.
@Nadiaxel5 жыл бұрын
This is amazing!! Thank you for clarifying! I never completely understood because I have such a powerful computer and it didn't make sense that it couldn't pull some smoothing. This makes so much sense! The parallaxing being a software issue sounds like a really bad misunderstanding/misinterpretaion of software lag C:

@@IM_GOING_TOO_HAM If you want a really responsive digital tablet experience, I'd recommend using Win7 or older using Basic or Classic themes to remove vsync. If you can stand to draw offscreen with something like an intuos, getting a high refreshrate "gaming" monitor makes a huge difference as well, due to being made for fast response and short frame persistence. Sadly, not enough people know about this and chalk it all up to just being 'oh digital art tablets are slow because computers are slow' or things like that. not enough technology enthusiasts in the art communities, unfortunately.

Just too bad they never go above 1920x1080 resolution! :( When you sit this close to the screen, I'd expect at least 2560x1440 to get rid of the pixelated/grainy feel.
@Nadiaxel5 жыл бұрын
Yea that was my thoughts on the resolution as well - on my computer it looks great even tho. My main screen is 4K with 150% zoom and I think the tablet lools nearly as clear as my monitor ^^ I think it also depends on the screen setting and the zoom etc.
@scp_art5 жыл бұрын
I have a Cintiq 22HD which is also 1920x1080 ,so that res on a 15.6 screen would be pretty good,also higher res screens in Art programs will need a more powerful PC.So a 4K screen really isn't a great idea.
@olahaldor5 жыл бұрын
scpart higher resolution isn’t that demanding. If we’re talking games or otherwise very demanding GPU heavy stuff, then yes. 2D or even Zbrush (which is heavily depending on CPU), or any 3D modeling app which is usually single threaded anyway should run quite good even on an integrated GPU. Regardlesss, even if you had a tablet that had a higher resolution you could always have it run at a lower resolution if you were worried about performance..

Turn it off for a day or so and it should go back to normal newer screens aren't like old crt displays where the image would actually burn in they instead have "stuck pixels" which should relax if you turn it off for an extended period of time. Also keep the cords away from anything that would cause electrical interference i.e. other cords or a power strip with every slot filled.

Get the Cintiq 16 its the tablet that has less problems, I had this one for a month now and i am dissapointed by its performance and just 3 weeks of use and the problems started popping up, 1. Calibration, no matter what calibration i did the pen has different parallax in different parts of the screen, the center is the only place where the cursor is undernet the pen tip, the rest of the display there is 1 to 3mm distance from pen tip to cursor, absolutely annoying as inking is difficult its like using a non screen device. 2. Line jitter is terible, even with a stabilizer in Krita, Photoshop CC 2019, and Clip studio, this is apparent when your drawing face in manga when your inking, you often have to rotate the canvas to compensate for this problem. 3. A laminated display does not get rid of parallax the ofset of the cursor to the tip of the pen. This is very obvious on menus where you try to hit a button and end up hitting a different button. Thats the main issues i had with this tablet, remember only people who bought the tablet with actual money can give you a real world test. If you want a video of the problems with the device i can upload that.
@snoozyA1135 жыл бұрын
Giniel Villacote I say upload that video regardless. Some artists on KZbin have now resented even doing tablet reviews anymore because some shady companies require you to only talk positive about a product and have you edit parts that could be negative for a false positive report. People, especially beginners in art need to know these tablets aren’t what they’re cracked up to be.

Good info. Still yes if the display is really what we consider laminated then yes it will get rid (almost) of parallax. If that still is present then clearly there is some other issues here.
@screwdriver13375 жыл бұрын
Since I have the same tablet as you for the same amount of time I disagree with you: calibration is good and parallax is barely noticable, only when you look from an angle which is obvious if you know how the tablets are made. Haven't noticed line jitter, maybe you should try training your hand to steady it. Colors are great handsdown. And yes, I've bought it with my own money. so comparing it to the similiar sized Wacom 16 this one is definetely better:)

@@snoozyA113 I wouldn't recomend beginners these kind of tablets anyways, too expensive for what they offer, for example I think Wacom peaked with the old Intuos line, as the cintiqs aren't really better spec wise.
@snoozyA1135 жыл бұрын
BombaJead oh I agree, I have the 2017 medium intuos, but I had a beginners one a few years ago. They’re really solid tablets. Even The newer ones are great, you don’t really need a pen display imo

Those spring pens are really hard to get used to. Also they really need to add VESA mount areas for these 16 inch tablets, as they can still excel being used on an arm mount.
@paulgnsn5544 жыл бұрын
totally agree! got mine yesterday and the pen line quality is so much better than that of my old cintiq12wx or the 22 inch cintiqs I used for work last year. as a storyboard artist, I love getting a perfect line down first time.

Good review. I also have the 13HD and I'm looking to upgrade. My main issues with the 13HD has been a grainy screen, poor color accuracy, and the screen seems dim. The pen and actual drawing has been very good though. It's good to see a larger option that is more affordable than Wacom. I'm not sure on that bouncy pen tip though.
@Karrdeh4 жыл бұрын
I've got a 13HD too but I found myself going back to a non display tablet. The 13HD was just a bit meh for me and I kept having my hand in the way of what I was drawing because the screen is so small.

when you get a sponsored tablet sent from the company do you have to send it back after reviewing or can you keep it? im also looking at getting this tablet for Christmas so yay!

@Nadiaxel4 жыл бұрын
@@thesproutdoodles I'm not entirely sure what your question is xD Like in how do I get a sponsorship? Mostly, the sponsors are the ones reaching out to me asking if I'm interested. The bigger an audience I have, the more interested potential sponsors get. I'm turning down soooo many irrelevant sponsors because they only see the 100.000k+ people following me and don't care much if their product correlates with my target group. So I've become quite picky xD haha. I hope that was an answer to your question 🤗

buy the non-screen one, maybe it's around $79 iirc? yeah you'll be going hard on the way for mastering eye coordination but it'll get the job done. Also go with cheap non-screen tablet first, then if you wanna be professional and serious about it, get the screen tablet because your workflow will be less time-consuming with a screen tablet (which is non-screen tablet does consume time for perfecting a single GODDAMN line). Happy drawing~

@@shabbyshanks And those that wish they could draw. How do we learn to walk? We try standing, quite miserably. We peddle our legs to no avail. We flounder about and crawl. For months to years, we do nothing but fail over and over again. But even then, we require assistance. For years we still continue to walk by doing this strange, bow legged motion that allows us to somehow manage to get from place to place. We even try to do that quickly but fall flat when we try to go too fast. We don't usually get to where we are actually good at walking in a manner that is a bit smooth till about 4 or 5 years old. Do you know why that is? We have to build the muscles and nerves required to be able to not only lift ourselves up and move, but move well. And just like walking, we can see how people around us do it, so we just need to do the same thing, keep trying and failing over and over till you figure it out. Just like walking, how everyone has their own gate, everyone has their own style, and you are welcome to copy one that has better form for what you want to to incorporate with how you function; or just to copy and role play can be fun.
